Forums - General Discussion - George Zimmerman Trial

Anybody else watching this?

Maybe it's just due to watching scripted shows before, but both lawyers seem kind of incompetant.

That said, I hope their aren't any kind of riots or anything when the case is over, because the prosecution seems to have really messed up.

A lot of the  prosecution witnesses sounded lik they were supporting the defenses case once they hit cross... seems pretty likely there will be at least some level of reasonable doubt.

Yeah the prosecution has almost destroyed their own case. The witnesses are so unprepared. And they are making it look like they are coaching the witnesses to say what they need them to say to get the verdict they want.

I see Zimmerman walking and all hell breaking loose afterwards.

They screwed up from the word "go" by overcharging him. There was no way a murder 2 charge as going to stick.

The most surreal thing has been watching lefties turn Rachel Jeantel into some kind of hero for being a stupid obese liar.

I'm casually keeping up with the trial.

No opinions except that the media's bias has never been more obvious regarding the facts that they choose to report and omit. Not saying that Zimmerman's innocent, but every story I've read from mainstream media paints a picture that simply isn't true.

well they didnt have much of a case in the first place, its just the media and "civil rights" leaders that wanted him to be guilty largely because their anti-gun agenda.

To be fair, I don't see what the relevence was to basically outting the fact that the girl was completely illiterate.

They already established she didn't write the letter.

I think it's less inentional and more they just jumped on the first likely interpetation of the case... and once the media has a story it's hard for them to "change" it and admit they were wrong.

The dangerous part is that most people stick to the media's first interpetatrion.   Most people aren't paying attention to the trial so if he gets off, most people will assume it's just another white guy getting off killing a black kid.  (Even though he's hispanic, but the media reported he was white earlier on.)

Which he may be... but either way, based on just how bad it feels like they're botching it... it's hard to not see reasonable doubt.

I was referring to her lying under oath about why she wasn't at the funeral. (Also lying about her age, omitting Martin's words, etc.)

The beef seems to be that, basically, West shouldn't do his job as a defense attorney because Jeantel is young and black and female, so the optics are inherently bad if he tries to undermine her story (which, again, is his job). Whereas if she calls him retarded, she's just "keepin' it real". I mean, the hagiographies of her at Salon and The Nation and other places are just beyond parody. I seriously doubt Joan Walsh would be stressing the need for cultural sensitivity if Jeantel were, say, Honey Boo Boo's mama instead.

Zimmerman is definitely guilty, but I dont think he is guilty of murder 2...

I heard that Rachel Jeantel messed everything up because she lied and was being rude.

I was on Trayvons side but i heard that she supposedly "admitted" that Trayvon circled around to confront Zimmerman or something like that. Is this true?
