Forums - Sales Discussion - Calling it now. The PS4 will outsell the Xbone 4:1!!

It will be 2:1

Any ratio higher than that is almost impossible, because remember that there are tens of millions of people invested in Xbox Live and Gamerscore and who have all their friends in the Xbox echosystetm. These people won't be easily pursuaded to switch console.

The only thing XBOX has that Playstation doesn't (at the moment) is an outstanding online service, but you have to pay for it, and in the case of the one vs ps4, the xbox live service is more expensive than the plus, and it is not better than the plus neither.

About the exclusives, Sony has a lot of them while MS still need to "prove" that they can dominate the first-party market, you may prefer Gears of War or Halo than Infamous, Killzone or God of War, but unlike you, there are people on the other side.

About this "casuals" you say, both consoles will drop prices, do you actually think that the xbox prices will drop to 100 dollars while the ps4 will stay the same? both consoles have a huge "casual" market, and while xbox has the Kinect, playstation has the PS Move.

AND I don't blame you for getting an Xbox over a PlayStation, if you like the console it's your money and you decide what to do with it, I just give you my point of view, and I ask you to be realistic more than optimistic.

You keep mentioning only Gears of War and Halo; just to let you know: before making such a comment, realize that a) Gears of War isn't first-party and b) There are more exclusives than those two.

I'm pretty sure the PS3 was supposed to dominate the Xbox 360 too. -_-

I love your complacent 2006 mindset. It’s exactly the same frame of thought that caused Sony their market share loss this gen. The irony is in the fact that you don’t see the same thing is beginning to happen with Microsoft. You’ll reply back with something US centric or casual kinect coupled with price drop with Halo mountain dew sippy cups but I’ve seen your posts before. So I won’t reply back to anything else, just quietly wait for December NPD numbers and bump this very thread just for you.  :)

There is no reason for YOU and other Sony fans to get a Xbox One over a PS4 but for me and other people there are plenty of reasons. Xbox One has the proven online infrastructure while Sony still has to prove they can even provide a quality chat service. Xbox One has exclusives that I prefer and a lot of my other friends prefer. Also casuals like Kinect and that will be appealing once the price drops to a mass market price. Sony is only targeting the gamers now. There is no reason for casuals to pick up a PS4.

I don't think the casuals will pick up the Xbone when they are probaly more interested in Ipads and  the Kindle.

@trixiemafia86
Yes I could see Nintendo releasing a successor to the WiiU but it will be coming in 2018 which puts it mid lifecycle against the PS4 and Xbox One. After that I don't believe dedicated gaming consoles will be released any longer.

I gave examples, in that case, am I supposed to mention ALL the playstation exclusives?, I know the exclusives xbox has, but those two are the most popular ones

and Gears of War is published by Microsoft, for Xbox and Microsoft Windows, it is the most similar thing to a first-party game

I really don't care about the ratio that much, but would love for the PS4 to sell at least 120 million units of hardware. A man can dream.

im always baffled about people interest in what console sells more and what number.   now if i had stock in a company and my portfolio depended on its success sure.  but just because?  help me to understand that logic.  i pretty much only visit these groups to see news about the consoles and apparently get banned lol

The size of the install base makes a world of difference to the breath and especially the variety of releases on that console. Compare the libraries of really successful consoles to the libraries of failed consoles. As a gamer, you should care.

In my opinion the Dreamcast had a way better games library than the Wii, the dreamcast had even better games than the PS2. The N64 was not that successful but it had amazinge games, the PS2 was the best selling homeconsole of all time and yes it had really many games but the amount of really awesome games was not much higher than the Xbox1 or even the Gamecubes amount of really awesome games .

If a console is really successful most notably the amount of crap casual games increases but the amount of quality games for the core gamers increases not necessary.

@lxhizy
PS Move might as well be discontinued. Casuals don't know about it and it's not bundled in every box. MS can afford to take the financial hit if they need to and can match the PS4 price at any time with Kinect bundled. The Xbox One also has more media functions which will appeal to casuals along with Kinect.
