They also said you would own the games, but you don't.  You can only play the game while your signed into xbox live.

You don't need to be signed in if you're using it on the console that has the license. The license can be transfered as well.

When they said you own the game. Perhaps they meant it doesn't go away if you cancel gold. Contrary to PS+.

I think your wrong, tbh I haven't tried downloading the free games yet because of what I said earler, but early when I got my 360 I downloaded Banjoo-Kazooie, recently I tried playing the game while I was offline and it wouldn't let me, it treated the game as a trial version.

Defense Grid is a great game. Free for 2 weeks? Wonder if this means they cycle games every 2 weeks.

I'm pretty sure the two weeks in question pertains to the window in which one could download the game. Once downloaded, however, the game will be playable indefinately.

Well. Just tested it with the free Fable 3. Runs fine offline.

I've already got Defense Grid on the Xbox, Steam and PS3. - Easily the best Tower Defense game ever.
The extra bonus is the second game is currently being made, hopefully they do some more Tie-ins with Portal. :)

Thanks a lot for the heads up, Ill download it after all then.

*sigh* MS... I can't even download this game, it wants me to pay 400 ms-points. Disappointing actualy. I really wanted Halo 3 and AC2 because I don't own them.

That's better than AC2 or Halo 3 which have been played by pretty much everyone.

Is it just one game? how does it work exactly?

Always complaining. There have been plenty of games offered by PS+ that weren't for me. Just get the free game, or don't. I think every 360 owner, that has gold, should be happy about this. I had XBLG for 5 years, and recently didn't renew my subscription, and I am still glad that Microsoft is following suite with Sony. Just be happy you're getting anything, unlike I did for 5 years. It tempts me to renew my XBLG account. So, it's a smart move. I have too many games from PS+ to play. Too bad for Microsoft that Sony made their move first.

Didn't the first game MS offered was Fable III on 15th of June?
I don't remember MS said the first 2 games will be ACII & HALO3. They just said in the conference that these 2 games will be included in the free offering games for Gold.

When you post something, could you please firstly check?

I doubt this because in PS3/Vita also the games works fine in offline till the Subscription date ends since those games downloaded are activated till that date, so try those games offline when your Xbox Live Gold ended.

GAMING is not about spending hours to pass/waste our time just for fun,

its a Feeling/Experience about a VIRTUAL WORLD we can never be in real, and realizing some of our dreams (also creating new ones).

So, Feel Emotions, Experience Adventure/Action, Challenge Game, Solve puzzles and Have fun.

PlayStation is about all-round "New experiences" using new IP's to provide great diversity for everyone.

Xbox is always about Online and Shooting.

Nintendo is always about Fun games and milking IP's.

It's AC2 not AC3. If it would have been AC3 I would have actually been a bit impressed by MS.
