Welcome!

The more, the better.

No borders is a nice feature of the EU having the Euro makes it cheaper to travel and less complicated too. But my country was always in the EU so I don't know what changes for a new member. The biggest impact I felt was Euro and no waiting lines on boarders

Eh, Croatia's in a more stable position from what i've heard. Depends on how the Euro was doing against the kuna.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Oh, afair Gotovina used to be a big EU-advocate. He's golden now, free and in EU :D

Kuna was pegged to Deutsch Mark and now is pegged to Euro. Becoming a member of fiscal union is Croatian goal and according to accession treaty also an obligation.

How deep down Croatia this year will be, deppends on tourist season. But for now all numbers are up (both preseason bookings and current bookings). I assume in fall we'll have budget rebalanicing, and I can actually foresee students striking because the Universities raised tuition that will apply from next academic year (and if governemnt will need to cut something they'll probably cut on education, health care etc - social stuff).

Everybody from EU thinks that we'll be overflooded with European goods, while not realising that we already are. The only difference now on is that the prices should be lower for poblic since imports from EU won't go through customs. Almost every fruit you pick up in a store is either from Greece or Spain. Sure there are few domestic ones, but they are usually more expensive. And Croatia is full of German and Austrian stores - Kaufland, Billa, Lidl, Metro, OBI, Bauhaus, Kika... and the list goes on.

EU is a good thing, Euro could have been, but thanks to inept and corrupt people like our Mr.Prodi (sorry Europe for having sent that piece of sh.t out of our borders) it was implemented in a horrible way.
So welcome in, but beware of greedy bankers and politicians' traps.

So you are not mad or angry? Just meh about it?

Fighting against it at this point seems like a complete waste of energy, so I'm keeping an open mind. I'm not mad, angry, happy or anything. Though I'm not a man of few opinions, I've never actively protested or supported something.

For better or worse, we're in EU now, and that's that. As I said, we'll see how that goes.

(wasn't even planning to say this much, but hey...)

I hate the EU. There's nothing good about it.

Welcome to the club. I'm actually excited you guys are in the EU now. This way we can take WAAAY more Slivovic and sausage products back to Germany after vacation, since there are no more customs
