Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Forza 5 Anti-Aliasing Still An Issue Unless Developing At 4k, Says Turn 10

“Yes, it’s changed with Foza 5 but the biggest [cause] is the cars, especially the ones with louvers on the back,” he said. “When you have a really bright sky it’s going to create a high contrast which makes lines look jagged. So, what we had with Froza 4, was a game that was running at 720p and now with Forza 5 we have 1080p and 60fps and there’s a lot of post processing going on as well.

“So, is that going to solve the jaggy line issue entirely? I think it will still be there in the louvers because it would look that way even with a digital camera. While we’ve taken big leaps and bounds with tech, the idea of completely eliminating the jagged lines technically, it would require a 4K resolution or something like that.”

Are you back?

OP. Highter resolution = less aliasing = less needed of AA... that's how that works.

Please no. The only reason I'm so hyped up for the next gen is AA and I have seen 1080 p gameplay of a lot of games and I can't see jaggies. Maybe its' just Forza 5.

It's not only Forza 5.. even PC with ultra high resolutions and 8xAA have it.

4k will not fix that too just make less noticiable... pixels are squares and not circles.

But I have played PC games with not setting not even that high and I didn't notice jaggies.

There are... you can't see but there are.

What the size of your screen? Lower screen sizes with high resolutions makes even less noticiable.

Although this site sucks compared to 2007 and 2008 days, new consoles are too exciting!

I always see jaggies.

Played Witcher 2 on 360 yesterday on a 50" tv and it felt like I was playing a PSOne game.

If the next gen disappoints me with gfx as much as this one did (KZ2 looked terrible), then I suppose I'll move onto PC for good.

Turn 10 is the shiz niz.

Turn10 is at least honest and all devs should be. Of course we will see jaggies in games. 1080p also needs AA, some don't seem to realize it.
But this is also a good measurement for bullshots! If you see no jaggies, you can be sure that it's a bullshot :)
