I was disappointed at first, but after trying it out, I thought it was really fun. I also like the idea of being able to play each level differently, with 1 of 4 different characters.

I was going to buy a WiiU for this......

..... maybe for Sonic instead now ;-(

I just can't believe how low they set the bar. They replaced rich, fantastic worlds with possibly the most bland levels I have ever seen since the PS1.

At lease MarioKart looked good!

Well, I just watched this video by one of the creators:

The world still looks very bland and I'm still disappointed, but you seem to be able to pan the camera around you a bit with the gyroscope if you play single player so it looks a bit less 2.5d which I like.

yeah still disappointed, I loved 3D Land, on my frickin 3DS. Even the name makes no sense :/

Yes it does:

Super Mario Land - A handheld version of Super Mario Bros.

Super Mario 3D Land - A handheld 3D version of Super Mario Bros.

Super Mario World - A console version of Super Mario Bros.

Super Mario 3D World - A console 3D version of Super Mario Bros.

OT: No. I was at first, but that was before I had analyzed the situation and was still expecting a Super Mario 64/Galaxy sequel. In reality, there was no way that Nintendo could have pushed out a 3D Mario titles of such scale in 2013 without severely cutting its quality. Instead, they opted for an alternative title that is different, yet similar enough to keep people interested.

It was either this game or nothing. (Because, fortunately, cutting the quality is not an option for Nintendo.) And I'll gladly play it while waiting for their next big investment. Its 4-player mode should also help make it stand out even next to a grand 3D Mario in the long run.

Super Mario Galaxy should be a new IP with a new characters since Nintendo always make each 3D Mario game so different for each of their home consoles and fans and critics really love the Galaxy series. If Sega can make Sonic Lost World look like Super Sonic Galaxy, Nintendo can make a Super New IP Galaxy as well.

But Nintendo also always has trouble with bringing every IP they have into each console as well... They really need to hire more developers.

Still looks horrible.

Still a punch in the face of both 2D and 3D fans.

I LOVE ICELAND!

I was disappointed in the fact that we didn't see the true Galaxy follow-up and the true new entry in the 3D Mario series. Disappointed that we need to wait even longer for that game to arrive.

However, I wasn't disappointed in the game, Super Mario 3D World, itself though. Game looks a lot of fun. People should just take it for what it is and not see it as a 'Mario Universe' replacement. Because it isn't.

Was dissapointed at first but after watching more footage I'm actually really excited for it. I know there will be killer level design. It's from the guys who made Galaxy 2. Also you have more replay value cause of different characters with different skills.

Also:

People seem to forget that we still don't know what EAD Tokyo 1 is making right now cause EAD Tokyo 2 is making SM3DW. I bet we will see a 64 like Mario on the Wii U.

At first, I was too. Still a little bummed, but I'm sure I'll like it when it actually hits the shelves. I wasn't necessarily expecting another Galaxy, don't get me wrong, but I was hoping to be a bit more surprised when I got my first glimpse of the next 3D Mario game, is all.

Hmm
