Which is the greater console war?

Sony VS Microsoft 72 38.50%

Nintendo VS Sega 115 61.50%

Total:187

All of us citizens of the gameindustri are constantly caught up in the storm of the unforgiving console wars, which are waged day in and day out. Some of us take part in it with our hearts and souls for the console we believe in, while others take a more passive approach of watching from the sidelines as the soldiers of each corporations, commonly known as "fanboys" slay each other to ascertain their victory. No matter what the stance, everyone amongst us feel the effect of the console wars during our daily gaming lives.

In this day and age, the armies that are at each others' throats are commanded by Sony and Microsoft. Sometimes, one side pulls out the power of the "GDDR5 RAM" while another side unleashes the power of "cloud computing", and new weapons of mass destruction are invented on a dialy basis. Thus this war continues on endlessly.

But...Sony and MS are not the only entities that have stepped into this console battlefield. In fact, there was once two ancient titans who waged a similar war decades ago. These two entities were Nintendo and Sega. They used ancient weaponry that involved using the power of the "blast processors" and "bits" which at the time caused tremendous chaos among the masses. Even though Sega ultimately went the way of the dodo due to various reasons, the shocks from that cataclysmic battle still echo through the land to this very day. What a battle it was, for those who witnessed it will never forget.

Hence, I ask thee, o gamer who has witnessed much bloodshed: Which war is the greater war? The war between Nintendo and Sega of the past, or the war between Sony and Microsoft of the present? Let your voice be known.

Maybe it's just nostalgia but Nintendo vs Sega seemed more entertaining to watch

Xbox One, PS4 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Prediction: Switch will sell better than Wii U Lifetime Sales by Jan 1st 2018

PS3 and Xbox. Sega were always dirt compared to Nintendo, if they didn't have Sonic they wouldn't have been a second thought.

Better than anything from the Sony-MS war.

Why is this question even being asked?

Sega VS Nintendo obviously. They both had their unique talents and weaknesses, and brought unique gaming libraries to the table.

Sony vs MS is a joke, their libraries are 99% similar, and so are their consoles.

I LOVE ICELAND!

Am i missing something here?

Nintendo vs Sega didn't have internet. No internet. No constant d**k measuring contests on every gaming site imagionable.

Nintendo vs Sega rivalry was done via commercials and in person.......which is done this gen as well.

And check out the SNES vs Genesis lifetimes sales gap. Not even close. This gen was all about a struggling PS3 clawing and scratching to eventually take the lead. Its a statistical tie now, far more drama then SNES vs Genesis.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

I remember the 16-bit era fondly because it was two game makers really going at one another. The over lap in libraries was nowhere close to what it is now. if you only owned one system back then you were guaranteed to miss out on a bunch of great games so the decision was very tough. Also, maybe because it was the play ground and not the internet there was more of a competitive excitement between camps rather than hostile vitriol. I remember having SNES or Genesis parties at friends houses and how the opposing side would be genuinely happy to see a Sonic or Mario in motion. I think Mortal Kombat (Genesis with blood!) Donkey Kong Country (SNES) were actually th ebig jaw droppers no one could believe were possible.

Also, back then it was all games and a bit of specs (not that we knew what bits were really). So, with nostalgic goggles on it felt more pure than arguing about ancillary features.

Sony vs. Microsoft might have an extra bit of that special something since their libraries are 99% identical, with only a few dozen games differentiating them. But that cuts against them too: Sega v. Nintendo was something else entirely, as the two were really quite different.

Nostalgia makes for some serious rose-tinted shades.

THIS!

What Sony and M$ are doing is just ripping off of each other or ripping off Nintendo. Let's do another shooter and racing game for launch titles, how original.
