Space mystery Outer Wilds resurrected by Edith Finch publisher, coming 2018
https://www.pcgamer.com/space-mystery-outer-wilds-resurrected-by-edith-finch-publisher-coming-2018/
Outer Wilds, you may recall, is a first-person game about exploring a solar system in 20-minute intervals on account of the time loop the whole shebang is trapped in. We played and rather enjoyed an early build in 2015 but haven't heard much about the game since, until now. Today, developer Mobius Digital Games announced a partnership with publisher Annapurna Interactive, who also published What Remains of Edith Finch and Gorogoa. Together, the two will finally bring Outer Wilds to PC later this year, well over three years after its announcement.

Overwatch is already dialing back Sombra's recent buffs
https://www.pcgamer.com/overwatch-is-already-dialing-back-sombras-recent-buffs/
Just a few weeks ago, the Overwatch hacker Sombra received a pretty significant buff. In exchange for hacked health packs no longer generating ult charge, her weapon spread was reduced, making it much easier to deal damage, and her Hack time was sped up considerably.
Many in the community said this was too much. In particular, the increased Hack speed made the ability near-impossible to interrupt, as it's now possible to squeeze in a Hack between reloads or a few missed shots. Well, it looks like Blizzard has taken note, and nerfs are incoming.

A typo in a Civilization 6 data file is messing with the AI's priorities
https://www.pcgamer.com/typos-in-a-civilization-6-data-file-are-messing-with-the-ais-priorities/
There's a story going around that sounds too improbable to be true: that Civilization 6's AI leaders have been acting strangely all this time because of five misspellings in a data file. The likelihood that Firaxis wouldn't have noticed such an obvious error for so long seems minuscule. And yet, inside one of Civ 6's loose data files, Leaders.xml, are the following five lines.
Update: Firaxis has confirmed that the spelling errors are a mistake.

Far: Lone Sails, a land yacht journey across a barren desert, is coming in May
https://www.pcgamer.com/far-lone-sails-a-land-yacht-journey-across-a-barren-desert-is-coming-in-may/
Far: Lone Sails reminds me quite a bit of The Final Station, another 2D journey across a desolate, end-of-the-world landscape, and based on that alone it has my interest. But the muted beauty of the trailer and the promise of slow-burn environmental storytelling rather than wholesale zombie slaughter have my expectations elevated: I really want to play this game.
Far: Lone Sails is scheduled for release on May 17 on Steam.

This new Sinking City video features a very good looking GDC demo
https://www.pcgamer.com/this-new-sinking-city-video-features-a-very-good-looking-gdc-demo/
The Sinking City is an open-world investigation game with a Lovecraftian twist, set in the 1920s in Oakmont, Massachusetts, a city plagued by flood. And not just any floods: Supernatural floods. It's the biggest game ever made by Ukrainian developer Frogwares, which has previously developed a number of Sherlock Holmes games and the 2013 Portal-esque Magrunner: Dark Pulse. With its first public showcase about to take place at GDC and EGX, the studio has released a trailer looking at the challenges of creating a demo that will properly showcase what the game is all about.

Neo Cab is a lovely-looking 'emotional survival game about gig labour'
https://www.pcgamer.com/neo-cab-is-a-lovely-looking-emotional-survival-game-about-gig-labour/
Neo Cab is the debut game from Californian outfit Chance Agency. It's a survival game, of sorts, but not what we're used to from the genre. And it looks gorgeous.
"Neo Cab is an emotional survival game about gig labor, tech disruption and the experience of being a driver-for-hire… perhaps the last of their kind," reads a tweet from the game's newly launched Twitter account.

Scavengers is an ambitious multiplayer survival shooter, spiritual successor to Halo 5's Warzone
https://www.pcgamer.com/scavengers-is-an-ambitious-multiplayer-survival-shooter-and-spiritual-successor-to-halo-5s-warzone/
Scavengers is the debut venture of Midwinter Entertainment—a studio led by ex-343 Industries studio head Josh Holmes. Inspired by Halo 5's Warzone mode, the game bills itself as a multiplayer "co-opetition" survival shooter. But don't be put off by that because Scavengers sounds impressive, pants portmanteau aside.

Itch.io says it's 'not super-interested' in replacing human curators with algorithms
https://www.pcgamer.com/itchio-says-its-not-super-interested-in-replacing-human-curators-with-algorithms/
Curation, as Itch.io explained in a recent blog post, "is the act of selecting games to highlight and present to customers." Different platforms do it differently: Steam, for instance, relies heavily on algorithms to handle the mass of games it offers, with sometimes mixed results. But Itch.io, content director Spencer Hayes explained, is "not super-interested" in taking that approach.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance mod removes the “Save & Quit” mechanic for true purists fans
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/kingdom-come-deliverance-mod-removes-save-quit-mechanic-for-true-purists-fans/
And we went full circle. When Kingdom Come: Deliverance came out, there wasn’t any ‘Save & Quit’ option, something that frustrated a number of gamers. As a result of that backlash, Warhorse had added that option via an update. And here we are today with a mod that removes that recently implemented option.

>>Get the mod from Nexus Mods.

This mod significantly improves the ambient occlusion effects in Kingdom Come: Deliverance
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/this-mod-significantly-improves-the-ambient-occlusion-effects-in-kingdom-come-deliverance/
Modder ‘bravo16mt’ has released a new mod for Kingdom Come: Deliverance that greatly improves its ambient occlusion effects. This mod, called Ambient Occlusion Fix, makes ambient occlusion more noticeable, thus making most of the environments feel less flat and more realistic.

>>Again, this mod is available from Nexus Mods.

This realism mod makes Kingdom Come: Deliverance brutally hard
https://www.pcgamer.com/this-realism-overhaul-mod-makes-kingdom-come-deliverance-much-tougher/
Kingdom Come: Deliverance is not exactly an easy game, but you can transform Henry from lowly peasant to fearsome knight fairly quickly if you know what you're doing. Modder Knoxogoshi's Ultimate Realism Overhaul looks to change that by making the game harder, especially early on. It bumps up the difficulty of combat, slows down progression, and makes Groschen—Bohemia's currency—harder to come by. It sounds brutal, but if you've already finished your first playthrough then it might be a good excuse to start all over again.

SilverTM and a team of gamers are currently working on a fan remake of Half Life/Black Mesa in Unreal Engine 4. While the team does not aim to recreate the entire game, it will release a playable version of the game’s first chapter so that everyone can experience it.

Occult Scrim takes Half Life into the third-person and improves enemy AI
https://www.pcgamer.com/occult-scrim-takes-half-life-into-the-third-person-and-improves-enemy-ai/
Occult Scrim looks like a fun twist on Half Life: it's not quite a fully top-down shooter, but it's nearly there, with the camera floating way overhead. Your job is to blast through enemies to rack up points, which you'll spend on new weapons and items when you return to your base, an armoury.

>>This mod is available from ModDB.

Hearthstone finally gets an official deck tracking app (but only in China)
https://www.pcgamer.com/hearthstone-gets-finally-gets-an-official-deck-tracking-app-but-only-in-china/
Hearthstone is in rude shape right now, with a good amount of deck diversity on the ladder and a spooky expansion waiting around the corner. But there's always room for improvement, and one perennial complaint about the game is that it does a terrible job of tracking your stats. The only data the client exposes in-game is your total number of wins with each class, and overall across constructed and arena. Thin gruel, given that the game is well-suited to statistical analysis, with sites like HS Replay and Vicious Syndicate designed to give players an edge using data. There's also a range of deck tracking software which all use Blizzard's API to give you a ton of extra info and help ensure you know what's left to draw.

>>Maybe they'll bring it over here too.

It will add 149 cards to the game based on the mystical realm of the Dunmer, and also make some big changes to the core mechanics of the game, foremost of which are the addition of new three-attribute cards and an increase to the already voluminous deck size limit.

RICO reminds me of F.E.A.R., the solid horror shooter from Monolith Productions, but without the scary bits. It's a co-op cop shooter in which you and a partner blast through procedurally-generated levels, slipping in and out of slow motion as you bust down doors and shotgun bad guys from three feet away, sending them flying across the room.

Ambitious space MMO Dual Universe hires one of EVE Online's original designers
https://www.pcgamer.com/ambitious-space-mmo-dual-universe-hires-one-of-eve-onlines-original-designers/
Dual Universe's ambitions are vast: it's a space MMO with PvP combat, freeform voxel tech building tools, and an end game in which you have to master a built-in scripting language to reprogram the behaviour of your ship. After Evan saw it up close he described it as "one part EVE, one part Minecraft", which means the latest hire from developer Novaquark is probably a good fit. It's recruited Hrafnkell Oskarsson, one of EVE Online's original designers.

Super Mega Baseball 2 details online multiplayer modes, supports crossplay with consoles
https://www.pcgamer.com/super-mega-baseball-2-details-online-multiplayer-modes-supports-crossplay-with-consoles/
Super Mega Baseball is one of my favourite sports games of the past five years, and the sequel looks like it will improve on the arcadey original in nearly every way. One of the major additions to Super Mega Baseball 2 is online multiplayer, and developer Metalhead Software released a video (above) this week detailing just how that will work.

Nightmarish disco platformer Octahedron gets free demo ahead of Tuesday release
https://www.pcgamer.com/nightmare-disco-platformer-octahedron-gets-free-demo-ahead-of-tuesday-release/
Jody took an in-depth look at Octahedron, a colourful platformer in which you have to escape from a neon underworld, last month, and his piece should tell you whether you'll end up enjoying it or not. But if you're still undecided ahead of the game's release on Tuesday (March 20), then developer Demimonde has released a free demo in which you can try out a selection of levels from the full game.

Bandai Namco's Little Witch Academia RPG out in May
https://www.pcgamer.com/bandai-namcos-little-witch-academia-rpg-out-in-may/
Bandai Namco's beat 'em up version of Netflix-only anime series Little Witch Academia is coming to PC on May 15, the developer has announced. Little Witch Academia: Chamber of Time features an original story following the show's main character, Akko, who accidentally creates a time loop in a library (as you do). She and her friends at Luna Nova Academy have to get things back to normal.

Ex-Hitman and The Division devs form new studio to work on unnamed 'cult classic'
https://www.pcgamer.com/ex-hitman-and-the-division-devs-form-new-studio-to-work-on-unnamed-cult-classic/
What do you get when you mix a group of ex-Hitman and The Division developers, who've set off on their own and are working on an as yet undisclosed "cult classic"? You get Sharkmob, a new indie outfit comprised of ex-Ubi and IO folks that's headed by former Massive CEO Fredrik Rundqvist.

Ni No Kuni 2's launch trailer is bursting with colour and battles and fireballs

Vibrant colour scheme? Yes. Whimsical characters? Uh-huh. Orchestral score? Yup. Big bastard baddies and a fair whack of ham-fisted voice acting? You betcha. Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom's launch trailer is bursting with discernable JRPG traits, and it looks rather wonderful.

Please excuse my bad English.

So, have you guys heard about what has happened with AMD and an allegedly "security company" from Israel? That's some sh!t of the worst kind.

The security company is unknown and they went against standard industry protocol... Why did they do that? So they could make a name for themselves and profit from it.

The security issues require some pretty intimate access to the host machine anyway. So to me it's ultimately a non-issue... You give me administration/low-level/direct hardware access to a machine and I could do all sorts of things.

Just remember that whether you own AMD, Intel, nVidia, ARM... All processors have flaws, some are horrific, some are pretty benign.
Some need to be fixed in a hardware revision, others just need a software/firmware update or in some cases a simple BIOS setting changed, what should be the concern is if said machines are used in a sensitive environment or becomes a very common attack vector to compromise machines.

With that in mind... One of the flaws attacks USB host controllers, namely Asmedia ASM1042, ASM1142 and ASM1143... Which are ALSO found on Intel Platforms. (My own x79 board uses the ASM1042 controller.)

Does anyone here know an OS/2 and OS/2 Warp emulator? I have some games but no way to play them.

Virtual Machine perhaps? It's how I get old Win95 games running on modern OS's.
You do tend to loose things like GPU acceleration though. (Unless that has changed in the last several years.)

In-fact, here is a guide for just that.

Yes.
The future is, soon.

"Hunt: Showdown gets a beautiful GDC 2018 tech demo video, showing the capabilities of CRYENGINE V"
The game is seriously impressive (and very fun).
Too bad it isn't on a console (and a first party / exclusive, title), and therefore won't win best graphics of 2018.

"Occult Scrim takes Half Life into the third-person and improves enemy AI"
"Half Life is coming to Unreal Engine 4, first screenshots, first chapter will be fully playable"
Both of these projects look great.
Hopefully both projects make their way to Source 2, when it is made available.

Also the HTC Vive has received a price drop, and the Vive Pro has received its launch price.
800 USD for the Pro, without base-stations or controllers.
The base unit Vive will now be 500 USD for the HMD, two controllers, two base-stations, and a copy of Fallout 4 VR.

Real time ray tracing sounds like marketing fluff right now. It would be nice if they'd just incorporate ASICs in their Chips 100% designated for raytracing. But I gues we'll have to wait a few generations until it reaches mainstream GPUs in a meaningful capacity. And then the asshat developers would have to jump on it too, which they won't because consoles go up in flames even thinking of raytracing.

So yeah, can't wait to see the first fully raytraced game in 2030.

Hopefully by that time industry will move on to something like voxel octrees.
