So guys, I got a gaming laptop!! It's an ASUS ROG Strix GL753VD-DS71 17.3. Not sure how powerful it is exactly since I don't know all that much about PC gaming, but I got it with student grant money.

Noicee. A 1050 is plenty powerful and you should be able to play a ton of games at max settings in at least 30fps if not higher.

Although none of that really matters cause that laptop has rgb lighting which makes a true pcmr laptop!

Yay!! I know you suggested a different laptop to me, but I had issues purchasing it (I now know why), but in any case I'm satisfied with my current one. I also got a headset and a mouse to go with it. Though as I already have a PS4 and XB1, if I can't play new games on this it isn't really a big deal.

Mhmm well, it will still perform much better than if you played the same games on a ps4/x1 anyway so... Still an upgrade :P

I'll test some games out that were gifted to me by a few different users here, I assume they'll run just fine. Man, I'm glad I got a mouse though, much better than using a trackpad.

Congrats on your purchase. I hope you enjoy many hours of gaming on it... but only after you're done with study!

And yes, a proper mouse is a must have.

It is a very capable notebook, can't complain about that hardware.
May all your games be good ones.

Looks fine though I'm a bit confused. In the details they say 1050 but in the description they say 1050ti, that's a noticeable difference. You should check that.

Intel Core i7-8700K Cinebench CB 15 Benchmarks
http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/intel-core-i7-8700k-benchmarks.html
Tech Youtuber Karl Morin ran a Cinebench with Intel Core i7-8700K on a HP Omen PC. Intels six core and twelve threads processor scorded 1230 points in the multicore test. And that number is good enough to use in a bit of an overview.

Morin was attending at an event showcasing the HP Omen PC with the new Intel processor. Karl recorded a thing or two, however with an incredibly poor quality video. So, the PC did not have a monitor active yet Morin got ballsy and disconnected another monitor and closed it on the PC, then turned Cinebench. Below the multi-core result, I placed them into on of our own charts to compare with:

>>This is what Cinebech says, but if we look at Geekbench...

Retail Core i7-8700K Surfaces on Geekbench Database
https://www.techpowerup.com/236932/retail-core-i7-8700k-surfaces-on-geekbench-database
As Intel's 8th generation Core "Coffee Lake" processors inch closer to their 5th October launch, those with early access to the retail chips are putting them through their paces. One such test landed on Geekbench database. A top-end Core i7-8700K six-core chip running on an EVGA-made, Z370 chipset-based motherboard (model code: 121-KS-E375).

Running at its standard (out of the box) clock speeds, the Core i7-8700K scored 5,773 points in the single-threaded bench, which is higher than the 4,900-ish scores one can expect from the Ryzen 7 1800X. In the multi-threaded test, it scored 24,260 points, which is lower than the 28,000-ish points typical machines with Ryzen 7 1800X score, due to the two extra cores it packs compared to the i7-8700K.
