For some reason, besides the site being in the poor condition it is now, I've made a double post.

*Edit* I'll use the magic of double posts to post a magic trick:

I only have one question: White chocolate? Really?!

Kinda sad that GearVR is the number one reason why I haven't bought PC VR yet. The quality is absolutely horrible but the "no cable" feature beats everything else. Currently thinking about ordering the slightly better GearVR for 120€. My buddy says the quality is better than on OR.

Doesn't the quality mainly depend on your phone tho? Do you have a Galaxy S8? If so, then perhaps.

I only have an S7 Edge so it probably won't improve much. My next step in VR is gonna be the Pixel 2(whenever that will come out) and the best Daydream  Headset I can find.

Hi!

Does any of you use Firefox? I'm asking because I don't know why, but today it has decided to block my access to a lot of sites for "insecure connection" and I want to know if it's something messing with my antivirus or it's Firefox that's acting nuts.

For reference, I can't access Videocardz.com but I can go to Wccftech. Or I can go to Anandtech, Guru3D or Tom's Hardware, but I can't access Bit-Tech.net, HardOCP, TechPowerUp or PCPer.

Firefox and Chrome too as of late are really  tough on bad certificates. There might've been an update that labels specific attributes in the cypher suite or certificate chain as insecure. The easiest thing would be to check what FF is saying about the certificate of the site.

You can also post a screen shots.

edit: just checked the sites with the latest version of firefox, they seem fine. It might be a security application messing with the certificates. Or it could be a virus that fucked with your host file. But I would have to see the site's certificates first.

Thanks for the answer.

My antivirus, Kaspersky, has updated today and has installed something called Kaspersky Secure Connection, that I'm gonna uninstall right away because I don't like that programs install other programs without at least asking permission first.

The screen that appears instead of the blocked site doesn't say much, it only says "Your connexion is not safe" and then "The owner of *insert one of the sites I'm mentioned here* has configured your website incorrectly. To prevent your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected to this website." And then, a link to get more info.

I'm going to uninstall that new software and then check the AV program to see if something has changed.

A quick check tells us that it was indeed Kaspersky. That program works as a proxy and establishes the connection to a website for you. It then relays to you its own certificate or an altered version of the site. The browser will then check the cert and see that the Kaspersky cert and the website do not match and block it. It's especially bad for Firefox users as Firefox uses its own CA database instead of the centralized one in your Windows. It could be that Kaspersky installed its certs onto Windows, which means that with IE/Edge or Chrome you wouldn't have noticed anything.

As my professional opinion it's pretty stupid. While this proxy technology is widely used in enterprises all over the world(like in mine) it's basically useless for home end consumers. It does build a secure connection for you but the browser can do that on its own anyway. It's just another security layer on top of everything else and typically just leads to scenarios just as yours.

Mhmm, just make sure to get one with the highest resolution then. Cause if the Pixel 2's base model is still 1080p, it would probably be a downgrade from the S7 Edge unless you get the XL model.

Yep, it was Kaspersky. Uninstalling the new program and tinkering a bit in the configuration of the AV has solved the problem.

Thanks for the help.
