So Valve held their Steam platform overview presentation and something caught my attention.

At 27 mins, someone asks them the question on the state of freemium games on Steam. He was answered with something pretty bogstandard, more of a PR statement than a legtimate answer if you ask me.

Oh shit, I didn't know you were from the land of moose and maple syrup.

Well at least you'll be able to fap in 3D unlike me, who only has the 2D waifus.

Kinda sad that GearVR is the number one reason why I haven't bought PC VR yet. The quality is absolutely horrible but the "no cable" feature beats everything else. Currently thinking about ordering the slightly better GearVR for 120€. My buddy says the quality is better than on OR.

More than 40,000 Steam users were banned the day after the Summer Sale
http://www.pcgamer.com/more-than-40000-steam-users-were-banned-the-day-after-the-summer-sale/
The end of the 2017 Steam Summer Sale also marked the end of the line for more than 40,000 Steam users who were hit with the Valve Anti-Cheat banhammer. The big swing took place on July 6—the Summer Sale ended on July 5—and is far and away the biggest single-day ban wave in the history of Steam, nearly tripling the previous mark of 15,000 bans that was set on October 12, 2016.

>>I'm perfectly ok with Steam banning cheaters, but waiting until after the Summer Sale to do it so they could profit from those users, because that's the real reason this happened after the sales, is just wrong and shows how greedy Steam is.

Jump is a subscription service that's 'like Netflix for indie games'
http://www.pcgamer.com/jump-is-a-subscription-service-thats-like-netflix-for-indie-games/

Having entered into beta yesterday through July 24, Jump plans to charge prospective users $10 per month for access to a 60-game strong library at launch—and sign ups for the beta are now live over here.

Sergey Stepanov is a Moldovan saxophonist whose performances have widely been described as epic. Hence the name, Epic Sax Guy. He's a bit of a Eurovision mainstay, but because this is the internet, he's popping up in a lot of other places as well. Just recently, he's popped up in Dark Souls.

The news, part two:

Battlefield 1 'Premium Trials' will offer time-limited access to expansion maps
http://www.pcgamer.com/battlefield-1-premium-trials-will-offer-time-limited-access-to-expansion-maps/
Back in March, EA announced a new Battlefield 1 feature called Premium Friendsthat enables everyone in a multiplayer group to play on expansion-exclusive maps as long as at least one person in the group actually owns them. The new Premium Trials feature comes at the problem from a different angle: It will give all players access to a limited selection of expansion maps, for a limited time, regardless of ownership status.

Fable Fortune's Early Access release has been delayed
http://www.pcgamer.com/fable-fortunes-early-access-release-has-been-delayed/
Fable Fortune, the Fable-based CCG announced in May 2016 by a team of ex-Lionhead developers calling itself Flaming Fowl Studios, was scheduled to go into Early Access this month—which, as the calendar hounds among you will have noted, is tomorrow. However, as you've doubtless already worked out, a bump in the road has been struck, leading to the delay outlined in this blog post.

Icewind Dale 2 can't be 'Enhanced' because the source code is lost
http://www.pcgamer.com/icewind-dale-2-cant-be-enhanced-because-the-source-code-is-lost/
Beamdog said back in 2014, not long after the release of Icewind Dale Enhanced Edition, that releasing an EE of Icewind Dale 2 would be a "nightmare." The changes from the original to the sequel "are deep," co-founder Trent Oster said at the time, and would "require a pretty thorough rework of the entire game to bring in the features from our Infinity Plus Engine." Since then, he has apparently changed his mind, but as he recently told Kotaku, there's another, far more intractable problem: The source code is missing.

New Destiny 2 PvP details revealed, including a look at the revamped Nova Bomb
http://www.pcgamer.com/new-destiny-2-pvp-details-revealed-including-a-look-at-the-revamped-nova-bomb/
In the latest video dispatches from IGN’s month of Destiny 2 coverage, we get a tour of new PvP map Endless Vale, plus matches played from the perspective of the Sentinel Titan and Voidwalker Warlock classes. Bungie also shed some sweet light on the revamped Control mode, which has some vanilla Destiny vets worried because the format is moving from 6-player teams to a tighter 4v4 format.

Try stealth horror game Hello Neighbor for free with the 'pre-alpha' demo
http://www.pcgamer.com/try-stealth-horror-game-hello-neighbor-for-free-with-the-pre-alpha-demo/
Hello Neighbor is a stealth-horror game about the perils of living next door to a really creepy guy—although the fact that you are the one who keeps breaking into his house to poke through all his stuff makes me wonder who the creepo here really is. The issue of legal and moral culpability notwithstanding, it does sound like fun, and going head-to-head with an AI in a break-and-enter battle of wits is certainly an interesting idea. It's currently scheduled to come out on August 29, but you can get a taste of what it's all about right now, and for free, with the demo that was released on Steam last week.

Vicious Fledgling's reign of terror in Hearthstone's Arena is being toned down
http://www.pcgamer.com/vicious-fledglings-reign-of-terror-in-hearthstones-arena-is-being-toned-down/
For a long time, Hearthstone's Arena didn't get quite the same love as the ranked Standard mode, but that started to change when Blizzard announced a number of small but significant changes to card distribution in the limited, draft-based format earlier this year. That trend seems to be continuing, as Blizzard has addressed one of the mode's most problematic cards in today's game update.

Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD will be removed from Steam next week
http://www.pcgamer.com/tony-hawk-pro-skater-hd-will-be-removed-from-steam-next-week/
Released in 2012, Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD was a fairly underwhelming throwback to the classic PS1-era Tony Hawk games.
If that's a piece of gaming history you need to have in your Steam library, then you'd better act quick: according to a Steam announcement, it's being delisted on July 17. No reason was given, though given the prevalence of licensed music in these games, it's most likely got something to do with that.

>>That's probably why the game is one of the 294 deals on Steam, with an 80% off discount.

Hearthstone update suggests 'Appear Offline' mode is finally on its way
http://www.pcgamer.com/hearthstone-update-suggests-appear-offline-mode-is-finally-on-its-way/
The option to appear offline in the likes of Overwatch and Hearthstone has been something players have been badgering Blizzard about for quite some time. The latest patch for the latter now suggests this function could be on its way.

Killing Floor 2 just got a lot harder with this weekly challenge mode
http://www.pcgamer.com/killing-floor-2-just-got-a-lot-harder-with-this-weekly-challenge-mode/
With last week's ludicrous big-head mode still on our minds, the new Killing Floor 2 Weekly Outbreak is a little less lighthearted. You'll fight an insane amount of Fleshpounds in the "Poundemonium" Outbreak, but they're not all created equal.

Conan Exiles update adds climbing mechanics
http://www.pcgamer.com/conan-exiles-update-adds-climbing-mechanics/
One of the first features Funcom's Conan Exiles locked down upon entering Early Access was adjustable dong sizing and realistic dong physics. Given much of the game's open world surviving involves crafting towering camps and multi-storied base HQs, it seems a wee bit odd climbing mechanics have only now been introduced. Nevertheless, they have—as have a few other nips and tucks of which those still roaming The Exile Lands and beyond will most likely find interesting.
