Wow. A 500GB SSD was quite expensive 5 years ago.

I assume he upgraded it in the meantime. They also were like half as fast 5 years ago. My games are rocking on a 512GB 850Pro. And Doom still takes too long to load.

Maybe he has upgraded, maybe not.

As for your Doom comment: 1) How much is too long? (I ask because not everybody feels suffer times the same way); and 2) Is that 850Pro an SSD or an M.2 (or other variant)? Because the latest ones are much more faster than a regular SSD.

I meant of course the 960Pro which is M.2 only. My shitty 850 Pro is for the OS.

A level of Doom to load takes about 5 sec, could be longer because it feels like an eternity. What makes it even worse is that you always have to manually press space after it's done loading instead of just automatically loading into the level.

Yeah, a "shitty" 850Pro...

Having to press space is a bit odd, unless you start to get attacked the very first moment the level starts, but in any case, five seconds is not a long wait.

Some gamers are reporting trouble getting Watch Dogs 2 to run after installing Nvidia's 384.76 WHQL drivers that were released yesterday. If that is a game you play, your best bet is to avoid the driver update for the time being, or roll back to a previous version if you've already installed them.

Fallout 4 modders are bringing skills back to the wasteland
http://www.pcgamer.com/fallout-4-modders-are-bringing-skills-back-to-the-wasteland/
Fallout Cascadia is an ambitious overhaul mod for Fallout 4 under development by a team of dozens of members of the modding community, including some veterans of the Skyrim expansion project, Beyond Skyrim. Designed as an entirely independent entry in the post-apocalyptic RPG series, Cascadia takes place "decades after previous Fallout games, in the year 2329" in the ruins of Seattle. It won't allow players to import their existing characters from Fallout 4, but there's a good reason for that: Cascadia will feature the series' classic skills system which was controversially removed for its fourth entry.

Thanks to Beyond Skyrim - Bruma, a massive Skyrim mod that releases today, you can now revisit Bruma and its surroundings some 200 years later, to a time when returning dragons are one of the main talking points.

H1Z1 update adds new nighttime skirmish and team scoring
http://www.pcgamer.com/h1z1-update-adds-new-nighttime-skirmish-and-team-scoring/
H1Z1: King of the Kill's latest update introduces a bunch of tweaks, changes, and additions to Daybreak's battle royale shooter. Most notably for those who enjoy playing with friends, team scoring has arrived, which will display alongside individual performances at the end of the match. And, the matches will be ending in lots of new spots from now on: changes to the encircling cloud of death-gas means the final circle will end up in "thousands" of new spots, while other areas, like the edges of the map, have been removed as possible final showdown zones.

New report says Mass Effect: Andromeda isn't getting any single-player DLC
http://www.pcgamer.com/new-report-says-mass-effect-andromeda-isnt-getting-any-single-player-dlc/
We reported yesterday on a rumor that planned story DLC for Mass Effect: Andromeda had been canceled because of the tepid response to the game and the changes that have taken place at BioWare as a result. The whole thing was quickly confirmed as a hoax—producer Mike Gamble said he'd "never heard of Sinclair Networks," the company that claimed to be developing the DLC—and that was the end of it.
Until today, that is, when Kotaku reported that the hoax actually got it right: According to three sources "familiar with BioWare's plans," Andromeda will not get any single-player DLC.

Fight Knight blends dungeon-crawler exploration with first-person fisticuffs
http://www.pcgamer.com/fight-knight-blends-dungeon-crawler-exploration-with-first-person-fisticuffs/
If you've ever wondered what it would be like if Batman took on an old-school dungeon crawler, then Fight Knight, which debuted (and was funded) today on Kickstarter might be something you'll want to take a look at. It's a game about a hard-punching knight—the Fight Knight, as you may have guessed—who embarks upon a quest to ascend "the Tower" armed with nothing but his clenched, armored fists.

Destiny 2's weapons and armor won't have random rolls
http://www.pcgamer.com/destiny-2s-weapons-and-armor-wont-have-random-rolls/
Earlier this week I wrote a feature outlining the nagging worries I have about Destiny 2’s design, a game I am otherwise almost uncomfortably excited about playing. Clearly inspired by the article, Bungie has decided to pile on a new worry. According to an E3 interview game director Luke Smith gave to Mashable, all the gear in the game—i.e. weapons and armor—will drop with set perk rolls.

Dead Cells update adds new biome, monsters, gear
http://www.pcgamer.com/dead-cells-update-adds-new-biome-monsters-gear/

The Lion's Song's fourth and final episode out July 13
http://www.pcgamer.com/the-lions-songs-fourth-and-final-episode-out-july-13/
Cast your mind back to 2016, and you might remember a little adventure game named The Lion's Song, which released the second of its four chapters at around Christmas time. It's a game about art and science in Europe in the early 20th century, and that wonderfully fresh setting is supported by some lovely pixel art and music. I appear to have missed the launch of episode 3, but here's news that the fourth and final chapter of The Lion's Song will release in a couple of weeks, on July 13.

Five Nights at Freddy's 6 gets cancelled
http://www.pcgamer.com/five-nights-at-freddys-6-gets-canned/

Taking to a Steam community update post, Cawthon explains he simply no longer wants to work on the game and that he's been "neglecting other things in [his] life for the sake of trying to keep up with mounting expectations."

When our James got to grips with Middle-earth: Shadow of War at last month's E3 he described it as a "violent Tolkien fan-fiction generator" whose "new tools at every level make for unpredictable, dramatic, and memorable encounters." Developer Monolith held a livestream this weekend that showcased some of the above, and also offered a glimpse at the Shadow of Mordor follow-up's PC settings.
