TN panel. Only 1080P. And 24.5". 6-bit panel with some tricks to make it 8-bit.

They are okay if you don't mind suffering from extensive eye bleed. Haha

Bonus would be responsiveness on that panel. TN usually holds an edge. 240hz is icing on the cake.

Which would be better suited?. Bear in mind I am aiming for a 1080p one, with a 1440p as a backup choice.

I forgot to mention about the colour banding issue I have with my current monitor, i'd love to avoid other monitors with said issue.

Sure is. Especially if you have the hardware to push it.
I used to have a 240hz CRT monitor back in the 90's. And it was amazing.

I mean, it's not the same kind of "wtf" kind of jump you get from 60 to 120hz where you might spend an hour moving your mouse cursor and windows around due to how smooth everything looks... But it's still significant.

Then you probably wish to have a 10-bit panel rather than 6/8-bit. What current monitor do you have?

I know what you mean though. I have an LG 27" 1080P E-IPS display on my core 2 rig... Being only a $300 AUD monitor, it's only got a 6-bit panel and colour banding is prevelent.

Make sure you have a better gaming mouse with polling rate 1000hz, this is very important or a must if you owned a 240hz monitor.

Edit: I almost forgot, do gaming keyboards also have polling rate?

Chazore, you do know that there are back Noctua fans, right?

https://www.scan.co.uk/products/120mm-noctua-nf-s12b-redux-pwm-1200rpm-quiet-case-fan

or https://www.scan.co.uk/products/120mm-noctua-nf-f12-industrialppc-2000rpm-high-performance-fan

though this one won't be quiet at all

As for the monitor, given that you want a 27", 1080p, 144Hz and G-Sync, I'd go with the Acer Predator Z271

https://www.scan.co.uk/products/27-acer-predator-z271-1920x1080-144hz-curved-169-va-display-nvidia-g-sync-4ms-dp-hdmi-usb-hub-black

It's a bit pricey and curved, but it has an VA panel with a 3000:1 contrast ratio, 4ms response time, Flicker Free and the TFTCentral review of it is very positive

They sure do have a polling rate. USB ones anyway.

PS2 keyboards have lower latency, full n-key rollover and use interrupt rather than polling.

I hate Ubi. Can't they just stop making games when I got better things to do? Now they announced South Park on the same day as Elex.

Also ACO looks even better after the longer gameplay demo. It seems they have gone full action RPG. It feels more like Shadow of Mordor than any AC. It's also a lot more Far Cry than any previous AC.

Well, South Park will be fairly short game - Stick of Truth was around 15 hours or so.

As for ACO - after watching demo, I'm bit more confident I'll find things I'll like in it. On the other hand, things like fighting hypo with spear like he did under the water was just plain ridicioulous, so I don't have my hopes that high - all in all, combat doesn't seem very good, but if the world is good enough I think I'll manage.

I don't see much similarities to Shadow of Mordor, but then again, I really disliked it and uninstalled it after an hour or so.

Talking about monitors, Samsung has something perfect for those that run two 1080p monitors, because the new one is exactly that, a single, 43", 32:9, 3840x1080 monitor!

http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/samsung-c49hg90-qled-monitor-is-49inch-curved-at-329-aspect-ratio.html

I can't embed the images from Guru3D, but you have to give it a look to see how ridiculously large this thing is.

As someone who only cares about ranged combat I can tell you that it changed a lot. This is the first AC where you can actually aim.

Anyway I booked my vacation today. 2 weeks from the release of Elex. That should be enough to get a lot of shit done. This might be the very first game in a long time that I'm gonna binge for more than 20h.

Wolfenstein 2 has a neat collector's edition that actually comes with the game
http://www.pcgamer.com/wolfenstein-2-has-a-neat-collectors-edition-that-actually-comes-with-the-game/
When it landed in 2014, the Wolfenstein reboot—named The New Order—was, somewhat surprisingly, quite good. Its Panzerhund Edition, on the other hand, not so much. Why? Well, despite setting punters back $100 it didn't actually come with the game. Luckily, Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus has a special edition that not only looks pretty neat, but also comes with the newly announced game in tow.

http://www.pcgamer.com/sea-of-thieves-on-pc-will-support-ultrawide-displays-high-framerates/
Microsoft stopped by the PC Gaming Show to talk a bit about the Windows 10 version of Sea of Thieves. It's not a port of the Xbox One version, said Microsoft's Ted Timmins, rather the two versions were developed alongside each other. It'll have an unlocked framerate and support ultrawide aspect ratios, both of which are good to hear. And of course, 4K resolutions will be supported.

Check out the exclusive trailer above to see Age of Empires Definitive Edition's remastered 4K graphics and soundtrack, new zoom levels, and improved gameplay.

Ubisoft announces Skull and Bones, an open world multiplayer pirate game

Praise Poseidon, they've gone and done it. It's been four years since the best Assassin's Creed, Black Flag, gave us a taste of the pirate's life. Ubisoft's finally taken that potential and spun it out of the Assassin's Creed universe in a new game called Skull and Bones.

The Crew 2 has been unveiled at the 2017 Ubisoft E3 conference and, according to the game's creative director Stephane Beley, aims to take the "iconic vision" set by its predecessor "to the next level." Most interestingly, this means adding planes and boats to its vast array of cars and bikes.

New Far Cry 5 gameplay trailer shows guns, planes, and dogs for hire
http://www.pcgamer.com/new-far-cry-5-gameplay-trailer-shows-guns-planes-and-dogs-for-hire/
At Ubisoft's E3 press conference, executive producer Dan Hay described the situation in Far Cry 5, in which the player is trapped deep inside cult territory with no roads to freedom and no cellphone service. "People are fucking scared," is how Hay delicately put it. Luckily, you can hire some help, as the gameplay trailer above demonstrates.

Beyond Good and Evil 2 trailer debuts at E3
http://www.pcgamer.com/beyond-good-and-evil-2-trailer-debuts-at-e3/
Ubisoft delivered an unexpected surprise during its E3 press event today with the reveal of a proper, full-on cinematic teaser for Beyond Good & Evil 2.
Creator Michel Ancel, who seemed close to tears at times, made a point of thanking everyone involved for their patience over the game's 15-year—and, to be clear, still incomplete—development, in particular Ubisoft CE Yves Guillemot. He also threw a shout-out to the fans of Beyond Good & Evil, "for sticking with us for so long."

>>If you think the game looks nothing like the original one, here's the reason: Beyond Good and Evil 2 is "like GTA but in space" says Michel Ancel.

The Artful Escape of Francis Vendetti, which I is apparently now being called just The Artful Escape, is a game about "great expectations, famous folk singers, lingering shadows, space Gods, hallucinogens, individuality, reptile shops, and wild imaginations." And if you think that's confusing, wait until you feast your eyes on the new trailer.

Ooblets trailer shows off exploration, dancing and fashionable poop hair
http://www.pcgamer.com/ooblets-trailer-shows-off-exploration-dancing-and-fashionable-poop-hair/
Since the beginning, Ooblets has been all about adorable Pokemon-esque creatures, and also dancing. The trailer above, which debuted at this year's PC Gaming Show, stars both of those things, but it also gives us a look at parts of the game we haven't seen much of before. Inspired by life sims like Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing, Ooblets will let you customize your character and deck out your own house. Crucially, you can have hair that looks like a poop emoji (or soft serve ice cream, but let us live this dream for a moment).

Jordan Weisman unveils first Battletech single-player campaign footage
http://www.pcgamer.com/jordan-weisman-unveils-first-battletech-single-player-campaign-footage/
Any doubt about the level of interest in a new turn-based tactical combat game based on the storied Battletech franchise were quickly washed away when Harebrained Schemes' 2015 Kickstarter pulled in $2.8 million from backers, more than ten times its initial goal. On stage at the PC Gaming Show today, Jordan Weisman and Mitch Gitelman unveiled the first footage of its single-player campaign, and the massive Argo ship that will serve as your heavily armed home away from home.

The Creative Assembly's Al Bickham got on stage to talk about the sequel to one of our favorite strategy games of last year, and the footage he brought along shows the Lizardmen charging against some High Elves. With dinosaurs, which hardly seems fair.

Tunic, which previously went by the name Secret Legend, stars a cute fox taking part in some surprisingly fast-paced sword-swinging and dodge rolling as it explores a gorgeous isometric world.

Take a first look at gameplay from cyberpunk sidescroller The Last Night
http://www.pcgamer.com/take-a-first-look-at-gameplay-from-cyberpunk-sidescroller-the-last-night/
It's a gorgeous art style, and a look that instantly evokes things like Blade Runner—which it said was an influence, but The Last Night takes a more optimistic take on cyberpunk. Odd Tales founder Tim Soret described its genre as a "cinematic adventure game," which means that "it's not a game like Mario, where you jump around," but is more akin to classics like Flashback, which it's been compared to previously, or Odd World.

>>I definitely agree with his "$60 multiplayer-only game bullshit" comment.

Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord footage shows what happens when armies clash
http://www.pcgamer.com/mount-blade-2-bannerlord-footage-shows-what-happens-when-armies-clash/
There are strands of PC gaming that feel specific to our desktop boxes – that no other gaming device could do as well, or with such vigour. Driving a truck across a barren patch of Nevada, for instance, or relentlessly clicking on goblins until you're covered in loot. Or, more relevantly in this instance, ordering angry, bearded men across a huge battlefield. If the latter is your jam, you'll be wanting to see this new footage of Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord, exclusively unveiled at the PC Gaming Show.

El Presidente returns in Tropico 6
http://www.pcgamer.com/el-presidente-returns-in-tropico-6/
El Presidente is still in office, it seems, because today Kalypso Media has announced Tropico 6, due out for both PC and consoles in 2018.
After five Tropicos, I feel like the setting has already been mined extensively, so I’m not sure where it can really go without losing steam. Its new developer Limbic Entertainment, whose previous work was mainly on Ubisoft’s Might & Magic series, seems to want to go bigger.

>>I don't know if giving the franchise to another studio is a good idea or not. We'll have to wait until next year to see how it goes.
