I've seen Mafia 3 on retail for less than 15 €, but given the reviews it has, I'm not even sure it's worth that much.

Also, most if not all the Final Fantasy games on Steam is 50% off until the 20th. Given that FF games never drop below that 50% during the Steam Sales, this moment is as good as any other to buy a game.

Please excuse my bad English.

Don't think it's worth it at that price either.

Let's go with the news!

1-Drivers

Intel launches full support for Vulkan API
http://www.pcgamer.com/intel-launches-full-support-for-vulkan-api/
Last month I took Kaby Lake for a spin and decided to see how the HD Graphics 630 would handle modern games. The result wasn't too surprising, with framerates struggling in many games, but at least the drivers worked… mostly.
I noted at the time that Doom Vulkan as well as a few DX12 games refused to cooperate with the HD 630. Intel informed me that they were working on a proper Vulkan driver, and that work has now come to fruition. As of the 15.45.14.4590 drivers, which support all Skylake and Kaby Lake processors, Intel has Vulkan support (1.0.33.0 API version).

>>I kind of feel dirty for putting Intel at the same level as of AMD&Nvidia when it comes to drivers.

http://www.dsogaming.com/screenshot-news/new-work-in-progress-apocalypse-now-screenshots-released/
American Zoetrope has released some new WIP screenshots for Apocalypse Now. And while these are WIP screenshots they look kind of… bad. In addition, American Zoetrope and Erebus announced that they will be moving the Apocalypse Now videogame adaptation project from Kickstarter to a unique, independent crowdfunding platform at its official website.

>>I'm not going to say "It looks like a PS2 game" like some users do, but I think it could compare to early PS3 games.

>>Still far, very far from the price I'm waiting for to buy the game.

Think TV dating show Love Island but with weapons and where relationship issues are portrayed by physical enemies, and you're some ways towards understanding Roguemance—the latest pixelated project in the works from solo indie dev Lucas Molina. He plans to launch his "romantic roguelite about love and relationships" on Valentine's Day next year, but is celebrating the beginning of that journey by opening alpha signs-ups today.

http://www.pcgamer.com/hearthstone-nerfs-confirmed-small-time-buccaneer-and-spirit-claws-hit/
Hearthstone game Director Ben Brode promised a balance patch was on its way weeks ago, and today Blizzard announced the details of that update. VA-11 HALL-A NOW INCLUDES "REDUX" PROLOGUE CHAPTERS
http://www.pcgamer.com/va-11-hall-a-now-includes-redux-prologue-chapters/
The cyberpunk bartending sim VA-11 HALL-A didn't make a smashing impression in our review, but the user reviews on Steam are "overwhelmingly positive"—a case of a game requiring a specific audience, perhaps? However you want to look at it, fans got some good news today when developer Sukeban Games announced that a "redux" version of the prologue chapter, which was originally released in 2014, is now included with the full game.

RAW FURY OFFERS TO PAY STEAM DIRECT FEE FOR INDIE DEVELOPERS WHO CAN'T AFFORD IT
http://www.pcgamer.com/raw-fury-offers-to-pay-steam-direct-fee-for-indie-devs-who-cant-afford-it/
Last week Valve announced Steam Direct, a replacement for Greenlight which will allow any developer to submit their game to Steam for a "recoupable application fee." Valve hasn't decided what the fee will be, but says it's considering values between $100 and $5,000. For small or one-person indie developers, five grand could be well out of reach, locking them out of Steam unless they take out a loan or crowdfund. Publisher Raw Fury, known for games such as Kingdom and Gonner, has stepped in to offer help. If the fee winds up being on the expensive side, the publisher plans to cover the cost for developers who can't afford it.

>>I hope it's an honest measure (and not an attempt to earn money from the work of others once the game goes on sale) and that they pay attention to the quality of the projects submitted, unlike Valve.

MY MEMORY OF US TEASER TELLS A TALE OF CHILDREN TRAPPED IN A WAR-TIME GHETTO
http://www.pcgamer.com/my-memory-of-us-teaser-tells-a-tale-of-children-trapped-in-a-war-time-ghetto/
My Memory of Us is a game about the friendship between a young boy and girl, set in a Jewish ghetto in Poland during the Second World War. Developer Juggler Games says it will be "a truly unique, emotional" game, taking place during "times of terror, pain, and exclusion in a world where people were forced to live in two artificially detached worlds." But because it's told from the perspective of children, it also features bizarrely-anthropomorphic machines, robotic Nazis, and a visual style that's highly reminiscent of Disney shorts from the '20s and '30s.

BARD'S TALE REMASTERED TRILOGY WILL BE FINISHED, OLDE SKUUL BOSS SAYS
http://www.pcgamer.com/bards-tale-remastered-trilogy-will-be-finished-olde-skuul-boss-says/
It came to light yesterday that work on the remastered Bard's Tale trilogy, offered as a backer reward in the 2015 Bard's Tale 4 Kickstarter, had apparently stopped. A message on inXile's forums said the studio believes that "it's unlikely that Olde Skuul will finish development on the BT remasters," and mention of the trilogy had thus been removed from the Bard's Tale 4 backer's site. But Olde Skuul boss Rebecca Heineman said the message was a surprise to her, and that she still has every intention of finishing and releasing the games.

OVERWATCH LOOT BOX DROP RATES HAVEN'T CHANGED SAYS JEFF KAPLAN
http://www.pcgamer.com/overwatch-loot-box-drop-rates-havent-changed-says-jeff-kaplan/
Last year, a Reddit user by the name of Ourobouros challenged their seemingly unlucky Overwatch loot box drop rate success by attempting to calculate the odds of landing a Legendary. Take what you will from this particular assessment, however the lack of decent pick ups in Blizzard's team-based shooter has again been queried—leaving many forum users questioning whether or not the rates have been changed.

heh, got an email from Steam saying I've requested a significant number of refunds recently and should like at customer reviews before buying stuff

Well aside from the fact that customer reviews aren't particularly reliable. I wasn't technically buying stuff. I use Steam refunds like demos, if the game isn't worth the money then I just refund it. What's wrong with that?

While there's nothing inherently bad in that, you are clearly abusing the system.

At least, if Steam changes their refunds policies, now we'll know who is to blame .

Sure, blame the bear

And eh, I'm used to getting demos for stuff. Was pretty cool at the start of 7th gen when digital demos became a thing. I wonder why they died out, seems very very rare for a game to actually get a demo these days.

Demos were a thing long before Gen7, at least on the PC platform. In fact, it was during the Gen 7 era that demos started to disappear, mostly because the HD jump from consoles was so expensive that devs became scared that demos could show how their games actually were, aka. not as great as they wanted us to believe with their videos.

But going on to buy a game just to try if you like it or not, and then asking for a refund if you don't is, at least in my opinion, going way to far. Watching videos on youtube and reading reviews from trusted sites is what I do to know if I may like a certain game or not.
