Is it your first SSD? If not, do you really notice the extra speed compared to your old drive?

Nahh, I had the Samsung 850 Pro in my laptop for sometime now but I never bothered with my desktop. It is 110% noticable cause the hard drives in my desktop are super old and all of them are in "caution state" so they have gotten super slow too.

I remember when I got my first SSD and how ridiculously fast the PC booted.

The move from an HDD to a SSD is one of the best upgrades anyone can do.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

After using an SSD for the OS and some games, I really don't want to ever go back to HDD's, even though I'm sporting a WD black for all my other games.

Speaking of storage, I'm gonna finally do my big migration tomorrow. Gonna put those 4x3TB HDDs in my new PC and combine them with Windows 10 Storage Spaces. Finally I have my big storage in the same case. My mini server is gone now.
Also tomorrow, putting my old 940 Pro 256GB into my PS4 Pro. That means my current games go on a smaller partition on my system SSD 950 Pro und Samsung finally hurries the fuck up with their 960 Pro so i can put my games on it.

DONE!

The only things left to finish my PC now are:

- Get the 960 Pro for my games once Samsung fucking releases the fucking thing
- Get an actual GPU once fucking Nvidia releases the fucking thing

I'd want one myself, but the price Nvidia will likely sell it for will be insane. If they sold it brand new for around £500 then I'd go for it. I'm thinking of just settling for a 1070 though since the 1080 is expensive as well and I don't expect the Ti model to drastically reduce the price.

It will depend on AMD and Vega.

If Vega ends up being on par with a 1080 or faster (which I find unlikely as it would have to be twice as fast as the RX 480), then I could see Nvidia lowering a bit their prices. If that doesn't happen, Nvidia could price the 1080Ti between the 1080 and Titan XP and still sell it.

So guys will a 1070 be enough for 1440p@60 for a few years? I don't need to absolutely max everything, I'd be okay with turning down some settings to achieve a steady 60fps, and if I'm lucky, the monitor I'll get will also have G-sync, so framerate drops won't be as noticeable.

Well?
