^80GB of storage... that's insane.

The specs at least are reasonable, but how can they compare a 980Ti or Fury X with a 1080?

This has to be marketing/advertising, they also did add newer cards on recommended spec with RX 480 & GTX 1060.

Oh yeah, one more thing. ~80GB of storage~ rip HDD.

But the 480 and 290X will offer the same performance, and the 1060 is just a bit faster than a 970, so they are well used, unlike the 1080. The 1070 would have been a better choice, but it would defeat the marketing purpose.

As much as I want, SSDs for that price are still overpriced for simple storage.

I wonder how many shrinks until SSDs will kill HDDs. I mean it can't be that long now. SSDs are currently at 7-8x the price per GB.

Hmm fair enough, we'll see the benchmark after release.

At the very least you would want to wait for Vega as it should help drive the Radeon 470, 480 and Geforce 1060/1070 prices downwards with some luck.

Keep in mind though, you are probably looking at a 500% performance increase or more going from a Radeon 5850 to a Radeon 480, so the jump isn't to be understated... But you could probably wait it out as well. I would hazard a guess most games you can still do medium/high settings still?

I don't think Vega will lower the price of the 480/470 and 1060 as they are already low enough, but the 1070 surely will drop in price... at least I hope. And yes, the performance jump I'd get right now is ridiculously huge, but it's roughly the same I would have had one year ago with the 390/390X cards.

On most games I can still enable medium with sometimes a bit of high settings. I think having only 1GB of VRAM is the main problem. Still, because the PS4/X1 have raised the bar, many new games are completely out of my range as they ask for a 7870/660 in the min. requirements.

Dude I was rocking a GTX550ti last year. Then I sold the PC. I've had my 3440x1440 monitor for more than a year now, still no PC/GPU. Though I've decided on an i5, I have not decided on GPU (aiming for ~$300 card). But while waiting, I might as well wait for next Intel and AMD's Zen.

With that monitor, waiting is you best bet, at least for the GPU. There's currently no card for ~$300 with enough performance to run every game at that resolution without lowering the settings. A 1070 or a used 980Ti may be your best bets right now, and they are out of your budget.

By the way, the latest rumors talk abour Zen not arriving until 2017 (source: SemiAccurate forum / article: Wccftech)

So the wait may be long.

Crossing my fingers for the 490. I can go as high as $350 but would rather stick to $300. I don't PC game a lot, it would be mainly for Dark Souls games and maybe a couple others. But i'd be content with 2560x1440 resolution as the widescreen is mainly for work.

At this point i'm strongly leaning for Intel. I'm positive I wont have regrets. But I really like AMD

Don't go AMD for the CPU right now. They are terrible value for money.
They are hot and have terrible performance.

The Radeon 480 8Gb is actually a fairly decent card for 1440P, sure you won't get 60fps in every game, but at an average of 40fps across most titles, it's pretty respectible and it does switch into another gear entirely once you flick the Direct X 12 switch.

I would personally want more, but if you are on a budget, it's worth considering.

INKLE'S SORCERY! CONCLUDES IN SEPTEMBER WITH THE CROWN OF KINGS

http://www.pcgamer.com/inkles-sorcery-concludes-in-september-with-the-crown-of-kings/

Before Inkle made it big in Time Magazine with 80 Days, it released the first episode of Sorcery!, a narrative adventure based on the Steve Jackson gamebook of the same name. It was originally a mobile game (and a very good one), but the first two parts were ported to the PC early this year, followed by part 3 in April. And in September, the tale will be concluded in the fourth and final episode, The Crown of Kings.

PC gamers won't be playing it, because we are a complicated and inquisitive species, but at least we can watch the trailer.

AGONY GAMEPLAY TRAILER SHOWCASES A FIRST-PERSON CRAWL THROUGH THE BOWELS OF HELL

http://www.pcgamer.com/agony-gameplay-trailer-showcases-a-first-person-crawl-through-the-bowels-of-hell/

Agony is a first-person horror game being developed by Polish studio Madmind. It was announced in May, and will see players take a tour of the depths of hell, as experienced by a tormented soul with no memory of the crimes that led to him landing in the burny basement. But you can look for clues in the debut gameplay trailer which was released today: It's eight unpleasant minutes spent in a chittering, nightmarish underworld, utterly without context or plot.

AFTER 15 YEARS, A CANCELLED GAME BOY RPG FINDS LIFE ON PC

http://www.pcgamer.com/infinity-game-boy-game-pc/

Every year, countless games are cancelled and forever go into the dark abyss known as vaporware. But every once in awhile, one claws its way back out of development hell, and into the world of the living.

That's exactly what’s happened with Infinity, an RPG for the Game Boy Color that was cancelled back in 2002 and has now resurfaced as a freely available ROM along with source code thanks to its developers. I've played an hour of it, and it's not hard to see that Infinity could've been one of the greatest RPGs on the Game Boy—making the fact that it was never published sting just a little bit more.

DEAD RISING 4’S PRE-ORDER DETAILS, PRICE REVEALED

http://www.pcgamer.com/dead-rising-4s-pre-order-details-price-revealed/

Yesterday, new screens and a snippet of in-game footage for Dead Rising 4 made their way out of Gamescom, and I must admit I was suitably impressed. Fast forward one day and the game’s pre-order details—including how much Capcom Vancouver’s zombie slaughter fest will cost on the Microsoft Store—have left me slightly less enamoured.

FOOTBALL MANAGER 2017 RELEASE DATE SET FOR NOVEMBER

http://www.pcgamer.com/football-manager-2017-kicks-off-in-november/

The football management sim that only ever seems to depart Steam’s top ten most played games chart when being substituted for its most recent iteration has been criticised in recent times for being unnecessarily complex. An inconsistent 3D engine, not to mention the fact saves aren’t transferable year-upon-year, are likely its biggest shortcomings, yet it’s still above and beyond the master of its genre. Today, Sports Interactive and SEGA have revealed its next annual instalment is due November 4.
