Warner Bros and Rocksteady announced that the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight will be available for purchase at the end of October. SteamSpy has revealed the September sales numbers for Valve’s distribution service, Steam. According to the stats, more than 70 million copies of games were sold last month. Now do note that this number includes all the free offers (free to keep games plus free weekends). If we exclude these free offers, the stats fall down to 28 million copies.

Average price: $11.47
Average discount: 16.61%

Almost every 4th Steam-user already switched to Windows 10.

24% have installed the 64-bit-version, 0.88% the 32-bit-version (probably windows tablets). 

80.42% of the GPUs are DX11-compatible. Additional to the usual DX11-, DX10-, DX9-rankings there is an additional list with all GPUs... probably the preparations for the switch necessary due to DX12.

What's nice in the new list: GPUs over 0.15% get counted (in the DX11-list GPUs under 0.30% doesn't get counted), so more data! Nevertheless none of these cards has already reached 0.15% of the Steam users: R7-300-series, R9-300-series, R9-Fury-series, GTX 950, GTX 980 Ti or GTX Titan X.

What's not so nice in the "all GPUs"-list: only data for May, June and September. So I multiplied the DX11-percentages of the other months with the respective DX11-share of each month (f.e. the GTX970 in August: 3.97% * 79.65% = 3.16%) and the results fell in line almost perfectly:

The only inconsistency in the Steam data is the Intel HD 4000: it is much closer to the GTX 970 in the "all GPUs"-list and all other GPUs gain 0.0x% from that:

There's something wrong with that list. I remember when you posted the July numbers and we discussed if DX 11 cards would reach 80% in August or not, and these were the numbers

July = 79.70%

Now, in the table you've just posted, it shows July = 80%, then in August it goes down to 79.65% and in September it goes up and surpasses 80% again. And the DX 10 numbers also changes in July.

Juniper Research has contacted a new research, according to which the digital games industry will generate software revenues of just over $80 billion this year, rising to $104 billion by the end of 2018. The majority of this growth will stem from the contributions made by the PC market, with this industry alone accounting for 42% of games revenues this year.

According to the press release we got, mobile platforms will account for ever increasing contributions, with a market share approaching 35% by 2020. Meanwhile, driven by consumer uptake and software purchases from the latest generation of games consoles, software revenue generated by this segment will reach $27 billion by 2018, up from an estimated $21 billion this year.
