Seems that enabling Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling for Nvidia's 2000 series GPUs are showing some good gains based on around the internet user benchmarks. Take it with a grain of salt of course until we see some real benchmarks but Read Dead Redemption 2 and CodMw are seeing some good gains. Remember, you do need Windows 10 version 2004 as well as Nvidia's 451.48 to enable this feature in Windows. The update does enable Direct X 12 Ultimate feature set for supported GPUs too! The gains are also very game dependent.

It also seems to improve stuttering issues greatly!

I wish the GTX 1000 series got that kind of gains support. Still not buying into the 2000 series tho.

^Yeah, a bit of love for owners of the 1000 series would be welcome.

https://www.techpowerup.com/269007/amd-ryzen-9-3900xt-geekbenched-roughly-5-faster-than-3900x
TUM_APISAK discovered a Geekbench 5.1 submission of a Ryzen 9 3900XT 12-core/24-thread processor sample. The processor is paired with a GIGABYTE X570 AORUS Master motherboard and 16 GB of dual-channel DDR4-3600 memory. The 3900XT scores 10945 points in the multi-threaded test, and 1324 points in the single-threaded one; both of which are roughly 5% higher than those of the 3900X.

Raja Koduri likes to show off his work in GPU engineering, way back from his days at AMD. His latest bragging rights is what he calls the "BFP" (big fabulous package), a large GPU package that's larger than even an AMD SP3 package, roughly 75 mm x 80 mm in size, looking at its "family" photo where a AA battery is used for scale.

Here's the pic:

And, for the sake of a better comparison:

These pics seem to confirm the news about chips with 1, 2 and 4 tiles (MCMs). Oh, and the big one is exclusive to servers.

Also Wccftech did some benchmarks with HAGS (Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling) now enabled. While these benchmarks are kinda dumb as neither games they tested are very demanding...

It is still quite impressive that even these types of games show improvements. On high end GPUs where it isn't very constrained, it still sees some but minimal improvements but on lower end GPUs, it sees pretty good improvements. It does make me think that some Turing GPUs will hold it's own when the next gen arrives but will still age poorly compared to Nvidia's 3000 series and the performance gains that will have. It is amusing to see how after 2 years since it's launch, it does finally gets to show off the features it was built for other than ray tracing only to have it's successor steal the crown and have significant improvements to those features. Truly a generation of, unless you need a new GPU, skip as Pascal was a much better value.

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Yea depending on the game and GPU. Some games like Read Dead Redemption 2 are seeing a even more gains while others like Shadow of Tomb Raider is seeing minimal gains but significantly less stutters.

It's a very good update for those that have Turing GPUs.

Yeah, Turing was more of a test bed for new feature sets; RT, DLSS, VRS etc. Its compute performance in games wasn't that much of leap if we compared Maxwell to Pascal. If we go by what rumours are saying, Ampere's second generation ray-tracing performance will be much improved as will DLSS with 3.0. Also 3XXX series will have support for HDMI 2.1 and have Tensore cores across the range so budget gamers will get even more bang for buck.

I mean GTX1080Ti is still a potent card and even lower end are still capable of running modern games at high standards.

Here come the news of the last couple of days. As such, there will be a fair amount of news::

SALES /PLAYER COUNT & DEALS

Ori and the Will of the Wisps has now over 2 millions players
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/ori-and-the-will-of-the-wisps-has-now-over-2-millions-players/
Microsoft and Moon Studios have announced that Ori and the Will of the Wisps has passed over 2 million players. Do note, however, that these are not the game’s sales. After all, this new Ori game was available on Xbox Game Pass at launch.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps is the sequel to Ori and the Blind Forest. The game came out on March 11th, meaning that it took three and a half months in order to hit the 2 million milestone.

GOG has two new sales and some new releases with discounts:

Steam has several sales going on, but all except one will end later today with the start of the Summer Sale (keep in mind, then, that the site will be Inaccessible for a while). The sale that not only doesn't end today but will last for most if not all the Summer Sale is Children of Morta, with a 40% discount: https://store.steampowered.com/app/330020/Children_of_Morta/

MODS, EMULATORS & FAN PROJECTS

Super Smash Bros. Melee emulation now has a fully-featured online mode
https://www.pcgamer.com/super-smash-bros-melee-emulation-now-has-a-fully-featured-online-mode/
Super Smash Bros. Melee didn't ship with online features—it released in 2001 exclusively for the GameCube. The Dolphin emulator changed that, allowing players to compete online in what is still considered the best competitive Smash game.
Those online features are now greatly improved thanks to the development of Slippi, a fan-made plug-in for Dolphin. It has an impressive features list, but most important is the implementation of rollback netcode, which is considered basically mandatory for competitive online fighters due to its efficiency at eliminating lag and input delay.

A modder has made a basic Overwatch map editor
https://www.pcgamer.com/theres-now-a-basic-overwatch-map-editor-in-the-workshop/
Overwatch players have been clamouring for a map editor since it launched, but Blizzard has so far stopped short of letting players make changes to the growing list of arenas. The Workshop lets you create new rules that can have a massive impact on play, but the maps themselves have been left alone.
Thanks to a Workshop mod from Yurrod, however, some very basic editing is now possible. The mod only lets you add things, and those things are exclusively walls. You can create walls of different sizes and shapes, connect them up, and there are some more creative uses, like using them to make ramps.
It's still in development so Yurrod isn't sharing the code yet, but you can see it action courtesy of Stylosa's video below.
