Control update will add more graphics options, including motion blur and film grain toggles

This game turns Tetris into a roguelike dungeon crawler, and it's playable in your browser
4-Block Dungeon has an amazing yet simple concept: what if Tetris pieces were traversable dungeons? And what if the player needed to manage not only the layout of the Tetris piece dungeon, but also a tiny playable character inside?
That's the objective in this neat browser prototype, which indie developer SquareAnon uploaded following some very enthusiastic feedback on Twitter.

Free action game Goreball offers some sublime physics fun
The name, of course, is excellent, although it only sort of fits, as there isn't really any gore to speak of in Goreball. Instead, the demonic enemies you square off against will readily explode in clouds of bitty pixels. It's still an excellent sight, however, as it means there's one less monster left in each difficult, puzzley level.

Fallout 76 players aren't impressed with the new $7 fridge
Fallout 76's latest patch hasn't gone down very well among the citizens of post-apocalyptic West Virginia. The update brings with it some big changes to events, a new Nuclear Winter map and a bunch of rewards, but it's the Atomic Shop additions that have ruffled feathers, inspiring a multitude of critical posts on the subreddit.

Ubisoft isn't planning to go back to smaller games
Even as open worlds become ever more common, Ubisoft remains the publisher most closely related to the genre. It's been churning out big playgrounds consistently for over a decade, and they won't stop growing. CEO Yves Guillemot says that won't be changing.

World of Warcraft's new Recruit A Friend rewards have been revealed

Spiderweb Software's latest crappy-looking RPG is now live

Yep, you can fire your Sea of Thieves pets out of cannons
The latest Sea of Thieves update, Smuggler's Fortune, is live, and it brings new voyages, skeleton sloops, bugfixes, and especially the Pirate Emporium, where you can spend real money to purchase pets. And the first thing I did after buying a pet was to stuff it into a cannon and put it into orbit.

It's almost as enigmatic as last year's teaser, which was an in-universe advert for the titular Bradwell Electronics, but this one also gives us a very quick tour of the museum and the secret complex beneath it. Give it a watch above.

Drive big rigs to 'honour your father' in Truck Driver
Truck Driver's latest trailer has the air of a corny sitcom, which is only reinforced by the sim's setup. Back in July, we shared an overhaul mod for Resident Evil 3. And today, we are happy to report that Mathieu Philippe and his team have released a similar mod for Resident Evil 2. Resident Evil 2 Seamless HD Project improves FMVs, upscales textures via AI, and improves most of the visual effects.
Furthermore, this overhaul mod upscales 3D model textures, restores integrated text, upscales menu elements, HR portraits and more. The RE2SHDP texture pack also solves the seam issue that always comes up when any kind of filtering or upscaling is applied to the game’s mask textures.
However, we should note that this overhaul mod is for the GameCube version of RE2. Therefore, PC gamers will have to use an emulator – like Dolphin – in order to enjoy these new visuals.

The Game Awards is coming back in December
The Game Awards are kind of like the Super Bowl, in that we are nominally there to watch the event but the advertisements are what we're really paying attention to. That's not necessarily a bad thing, particularly when it comes to TGAs, because so many of the ads are announcements for brand new games, which are (sometimes, at least) legitimately exciting and informative.

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep gets updated content roadmap and weapon buff breakdown
Destiny 2: Shadowkeep and New Light are coming on October 1, which will see major structural changes to the game, the kickoff of a new season—Season of the Undying—and a move to free-to-play for much of the game's older content. Mutazione is a 'mutant soap opera' due out next week
Indie studio Die Gute Fabrik are the developers of Sportsfriends, but their next game is something a little bit different. Mutazione is apparently a "mutant soap opera" where you play a 15-year-old girl named Kai who travels to an isolated community called Mutazione that is full of unusual characters—a cat-lady who plays guitar, an angry bug, a mischievous bean thing, some kind of radish person, and plenty more I can barely describe.

Shoot robots and wall-run in the impressive free demo for Arsenal Demon
It's you versus a bunch of robot angels in the demo for Arsenal Demon: a kinetic first-person shooter with a delightfully chunky, retro art style, and hefty guns.
As in Devil Daggers, you're simply trying to survive for as long as possible here, as waves of robots swarm towards you, hungry for blood. You have several guns at your disposal, that you can map to either the left or right mouse buttons, meaning you can dual-wield a shotgun with a flamethrower, a revolver with a minigun, or any other combination of those four weapons.

Hot Lava, Klei's sizzling parkour game, is arriving next week
After a year in open beta, Hot Lava is almost ready for release. With Oxygen Not Included appearing in July, along with the Early Access launch of Griftlands, I confess I'd forgotten all about Klei's first-person parkour game, despite its abundance of personality. To mark the impending launch, you can watch another brief episode of Global Action Heroes, Klei's homage to cartoons like G.I. Joe.

Kind Words is a sweet game about supporting strangers
Kind Words is a peculiar game about writing nice letters to real strangers while listening to chill music. There's no pressure, tension or objectives—you just relax in your cozy bedroom, scribbling away. It's incredibly sweet, with a surreal but reassuring atmosphere. A deer delivers your mail! I love it.
