Looks like Nvidia and AMD's next gen GPUs will be launching in September!

https://www.digitimes.com/news/a20200521VL200.html

It's worth keeping in mind that the article talks about GPUs, not gaming GPUs. There's a chance that some of those could be enterprise products.

But I hope they're the gaming parts because... well, it's always interesting and it would also be about time!

That's true but since Ampere is already shipping to their enterprise customers, I am more hopeful that it's their gaming series GPUs.

We shall see though. I'd like the announcement at this point more than anything loll.

Looks like Steam has launched its Spring Cleaning Event.

No sale nor anything else. It looks like it's just a way to promote its new "Play Next" feature.

Sweet, my birth month.

This'll hopefully give me enough time to save and see which one I can go for by then.

It'll likely be Nvidia though.

Same unless AMD manages to pull something truly amazing which to be fair, they did before with Zen loll.

AMD will further close the gap, and that will already be a success. Anyone who expects anything else than that will be disappointed.

I suppose that in itself is a pretty big benefit since it should keep Nvidia's prices in check.

Could also be paper launches.

Either way, we are due for new GPU's.

Yeah. nVidia is moving to a smaller fabrication process this time around, there isn't going to be the 12nm vs 7nm difference we saw with Turing vs RDNA.
That will potentially give nVidia an efficiency edge.

AMD needs to work on it's GPU architecture and not manufacturing to drive it's efficiency up, they can't exactly move to 5nm yet to remain competitive, RDNA 2 will introduce a slew of new features though to the red team.

Might be time to upgrade that GPU of mine later this year...

Here come the last news of the week: the Friday news!

NVIDIA Marbles RTX Demo looks insane in these screenshots, running in real-time on a single RTX GPU
https://www.dsogaming.com/screenshot-news/nvidia-marbles-rtx-demo-looks-insane-in-these-screenshots-running-in-real-time-on-a-single-rtx-gpu/
Gavriil Klimov, Senior Art Director at NVIDIA, has shared some amazing screenshots from NVIDIA’s latest real-time RTX tech demo, Marbles. The NVIDIA Marbles RTX demo uses full ray traced effects, and showcases some truly incredible next-generation graphics.
As Klimov stated, this tech demo runs in real-time on a single NVIDIA single Quadro RTX 8000 graphics card. Unfortunately, Klimov did not specify the framerate and resolutions. Still, the fact that we can have this kind of graphics on a current-gen graphics card is insane.
>> Given that they're screenshots, and not a video, I'd say that the framerate isn't great.

MODS/EMULATORS

You’ll soon be able to ride giant bats, throw fireballs and cause chaos in Red Dead Redemption 2
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/youll-soon-be-able-to-ride-giant-bats-throw-fireballs-and-cause-chaos-in-red-dead-redemption-2/
Talented modder JulioNiB is currently working on a pretty cool mod for Red Dead Redemption 2. The Pig Rider mod will allow players to ride a number of animals, and one of them will be a giant bat. This giant bat will be able to throw fireballs, thus allowing players to cause chaos.
While this mod is currently still in progress, JulioNiB released a video that showcases the giant bat in action. And, to be honest, this looks ridiculously fun.

People Can Fly has released a new set of screenshots for its upcoming co-op shooter, Outriders. And to be honest, these latest screenshots look stunning. My guess is that People Can Fly has “doctored” them, so it will be interesting to see whether the final game will look this good.

The Friday news, part two:

Borderlands 3's next DLC promises a Wild West-style adventure
https://www.pcgamer.com/borderlands-3s-next-dlc-promises-a-wild-west-style-adventure/
The tradition of Borderlands 3 DLC with long, clunky titles that don't fit well into headlines will continue in June with the release of Bounty of Blood - A Fistful of Redemption, a tale of a stranger who plays both sides of a vicious blood feud against each other, leaving nothing but death in his wake.

Desperados 3 extended gameplay trailer shows the importance of being sneaky
https://www.pcgamer.com/desperados-3-extended-gameplay-trailer-shows-the-importance-of-being-sneaky/
Desperados 3, as Fraser explained last month, is "a western-themed tactical stealth affair where you'll need to direct your gang across a series of sandbox maps primed for creative murders." You can stay sneaky and cause all kinds of Hitman-style accidents, or you can skin that smoke wagon and try your luck with a guns blazing approach.

Neversong dev accidentally gave away 3500 Steam keys to each of his Kickstarter backers
https://www.pcgamer.com/neversong-dev-accidentally-gave-away-3500-steam-keys-to-each-of-his-kickstarter-backers/
Neversong, originally known as Once Upon a Coma, is the sequel to the much-loved Flash game Coma. Successfully Kickstarted for more than $85,000 in 2018, it debuted yesterday on Steam, and based on user reviews—and multiple pre-release awards from SXSW, Indie Mega Booth, and others—is quite good. But as creator Thomas Brush explained today on YouTube, the launch itself was not quite so good.

Sea of Thieves sails onto Steam on June 3
https://www.pcgamer.com/sea-of-thieves-sails-onto-steam-on-june-3/
More than two years after its debut on the Microsoft Store, the multiplayer high-seas hijinks game Sea of Thieves will arrive on Steam on June 3. Developer Rare said it's looking forward to opening the game to "a whole new community of PC players," and also confirmed that the Steam release will have full cross-play compatibility with the Windows Store and Xbox One versions.

Steampunk survival game Volcanoids finally gets co-op play
https://www.pcgamer.com/steampunk-survival-game-volcanoids-finally-gets-co-op-play/
Volcanoids is a first-person "steampunk shooter survival" game in which players explore a rocky island, build giant drillships to tunnel through it, and deal with explosions caused by a hostile race of robots that uses the nearby volcano as an energy source, and who apparently don't take too kindly to your mucking around with it. We lamented the inability to actually drive the drillships around when it was announced in 2018, but even so it looked "pretty darn cool," particularly since it promised to support co-op and PvP play as well as solo survival shenanigans.
Co-op play wasn't supported when Volcanoids went live last year, but as of yesterday, it's there.

Dive into the depths of Maneater with this new trailer
https://www.pcgamer.com/dive-into-the-depths-of-maneater-with-this-new-trailer/
Maneater is an upcoming open-world shaRkPG. Not familiar with the concept? You’re not alone. In a way, it’s the first game of its kind. Sea-based action games have certainly been around, but in Maneater, your objective is to become the apex predator of the sea; the type of shark that makes it into the history books. The most recent trailer shows off several ways you’ll be accomplishing this megalodon-sized goal through details about gameplay systems as well as some fun commentary from the game’s reality show inspired narrator.

Playtest Surgeon Simulator 2 this weekend
https://www.pcgamer.com/playtest-surgeon-simulator-2-this-weekend/
Bossa Studios hasn't had a lot to say about medical malpractice sim Surgeon Simulator 2 since it was announced back in December. It has been hosting brief playtests, however, and there's one starting this weekend.

Microsoft Solitaire is 30 today and trying to set a new record
https://www.pcgamer.com/microsoft-solitaire-is-30-today-and-trying-to-set-a-new-record/
Microsoft Solitaire, the appendix of Windows PCs, has been knocking about for 30 years. You might not always remember it's there, or why it's there, but it's always hanging around on the rare chance that you'll need it. Or maybe not so rare, because its current incarnation attracts 35 million players a month.

Before we wrap the news, let's check the deals at GOG and Steam during the weekend:

+GOG

+Steam

And that's it. Have a happy and gaming weekend.
