I think a 3080 sounds like a nice upgrade for me over my 1080ti.

Just hoping t his time around Nvidia doesn't charge for insane prices around this time.

Unless RDNA2 challenges them, they will for sure, they are NVidia after all.

RT is exactly why I didn't want to splurge on the 2080ti yet. Turing was basically just a prototype with very few RT and Tensor cores. Since they were so few it was natural to assume that the second generation will have and increase of at least 100%, which would already be huge.Considering the shrink and increased IPC performance it is very easy for me to believe that we'll see a 4x increase in RT performance. Also can't wait to see what they can do with many more tensor cores and DLSS 3.0. God, I love Nvidia for being so progressive and putting cool stuff into their chip, even if it slightly reduces rasterization performance. RTX voice is already crazy good and with the inclusion of hardware accelerated AI the possibilities are limitless.

I wonder if we'll ever see innovation like that in CPUs. For example using AI to improve multicore usage.

It's nVidia.

Yeah, it's pretty much a given at this point, but I still wanna hold out a glimmer of hope.

RTX voice is definitely a selling point for me, even though someone's figured out how to do it on non RTX cards. It's still a must have piece of tech for me, considering I get fed up of having background noise in my mic chats.

I had to look at it, and turns out that the HBCC described in those slides to be the reason for the development of NVCache is from AMD, from their Vega cards. But I don't know if AMD decided to keep it in RDNA or not.

It will be interesting to see if both use something similar or if AMD decided to simply add more VRAM than Nvidia to their cards.

I was considering getting a new graphics card last summer, and while I still haven't exactly got much real need due to the games I've played recently, my GTX 770 is that the risk of running into something it runs poorly is getting greater and greater. Thus getting a new one is sounding quite appealing right now. I really hope RTX 3060 is going to be priced similarly to RTX 2060 (or lower), otherwise the decision's going to be between RTX 2060 and RTX 3050 or whatever...

A 770? You've squeezed that card to its fullest!

I think that, right now, it could be better to just wait until next gen consoles launch, see what's the min. req. card recommended for the new games, and get a card one tier above that.

After all, the only new game coming this year that will put our cards to shame is Cyberpunk 2077. We can wait a bit to see what we'll be dealing with in the coming years.

I had a 960 which has same performance as 770 up until one year ago when I upgraded to 1660ti. My 960 was still very good for modern games at 1080p medium to high settings, I only upgraded because I'm kind of a tech enthusiast.

Second that. If I really go for it my new monitor probably costs more than the entirety of my new rig. Asus seems to have scrapped the PG27UQX and instead gone for a PG32UGX, which is on paper the best monitor you'll be able to get for some time, but you'll probably not get that for less than $3000, probably much closer to $4000 and that is just crazy. It's certainly not worth that much but there are simply no alternatives on the market.

A 32" gaming monitor should not cost more than the best 65" OLED TV with 120Hz and Gsync.
