id Software developers react to DOOM Eternal speedrun
https://www.dsogaming.com/videotrailer-news/id-software-developers-react-to-doom-eternal-speedrun/
It’s been almost a month since the official release of DOOM Eternal, and speedrunners have already finished the game in under a half hour. Which is insane, especially when you see exactly how they do it. I mean seriously, these guys probably spent hundreds of hours playing the game and exploring every-freaking-thing.

Tuesday news, part two:

Cut up corpses and then get chased by them in Autopsy Simulator
https://www.pcgamer.com/cut-up-corpses-and-then-get-chased-by-them-in-autopsy-simulator/
Autopsy Simulator follows a pathologist named Jack—like Cher, he needs no surname—as he cuts up cadavers and uses science to uncover causes of death. A straightforward autopsy sim sounds like an intriguing, if morbid, curio, but unfortunately some "sinister forces" won't let Jack get on with his job, instead opting to scare the poor guy.

Hardspace: Shipbreaker, a game about the horrors of blue-collar work in space, is coming in June
https://www.pcgamer.com/hardspace-shipbreaker-a-game-about-the-horrors-of-blue-collar-work-in-space-is-coming-in-june/
Hardspace: Shipbreaker, from Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak studio Blackbird Interactive, is a game about a having a job—specifically the job of a Cutter, living and working in space, breaking down massive derelict spaceships into scrap and spare parts. It sounds like a cool gig! In reality, though, it sucks.

Games Done Quick speedrunners raised $400,000 for coronavirus relief
https://www.pcgamer.com/games-done-quick-speedrunners-raised-dollar400000-for-coronavirus-relief/
The recently-concluded speedrunning extravaganza Corona Relief Done Quick was a big success, raising $400,000 to support Direct Relief, a charity organization working to provide personal protective equipment and other medical items to healthcare workers battling the COVID-19 outbreak. That figure is lower than the multi-million-dollar amounts raised by the long Awesome Games Done Quick and Summer Games Done Quick events—they each run for a week, while CRDQ was a 60-hour weekend fling—but the GDQ team said the total "marks a new high for our side event efforts."

80 Days studio Inkle is looking for a little help making its next game
https://www.pcgamer.com/80-days-studio-is-looking-for-a-little-help-making-its-next-game/
In early April, 80 Days studio Inkle revealed that its next project is a "strategic narrative" retelling of King Arthur's final battle called Pendragon. As you'd expect from Inkle, whose previous games also include the narrative-focused Sorcery! and Heaven's Vault, the story will be central to the experience, and it's looking for a little help pulling it all together.
Inkle said on Twitter that it's looking for "500-word, lightly-interactive 'campfire tales'" to include in the game, which it detailed more in this doc. Submitted stories should be written as dialog between two characters, one the storyteller and the other the listener, who occasionally interjects "to pace the flow."

Gorgeous and surreal bullet-hell adventure ITTA releases this week
https://www.pcgamer.com/gorgeous-and-surreal-bullet-hell-adventure-itta-releases-this-week/
ITTA is an isometric bullet-hell shooter with an art style quite at odds with your usual bullet-hell game. It's set in a beautiful, pastel-hued world, which is home to 18 giant foes. The main character, Itta, moves through this world at the behest of her cat — the last living member of her family. This beloved feline gifts Itta a gun: those 18 foes better watch their backs.

American Truck Simulator now lets you get out of your truck to stretch your legs
https://www.pcgamer.com/american-truck-simulator-now-lets-you-get-out-of-your-truck-to-stretch-your-legs/
American Truck Simulator's 1.37 update, out now, mainly benefits your ears, introducing a new sound engine that's changed how the team mixes the cacophony created by vehicles and the great outdoors, but SCS Software has also thrown in a few more treats for good measure.

The Elder Scrolls Online's DLC is free to try all week
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-elder-scrolls-onlines-dlc-is-free-to-try-all-week/
The Elder Scrolls Online is shedding the price of its subscription for a week, letting everyone try out ESO Plus membership, which includes access to all the DLC game packs, until April 27.
The MMO is playable without a subscription, but that leaves you with a lot of DLC to buy; ESO Plus membership lets you save your crowns, however, giving you access to a whopping 16 game packs, up too and including last month's Harrowstorm DLC.

Artifact is getting a singleplayer campaign
https://www.pcgamer.com/artifact-is-getting-a-singleplayer-campaign/
After it failed to set the world on fire, Valve went back to the drawing board with Artifact, and lately it's been teasing some of the significant changes coming to the new version of the card-battling romp. One of the most notable new additions, at least for story-hungry people like myself, is a singleplayer campaign.

Yeah. They're really high and kind of odd (the 2080 is quite faster than the Radeon VII).

In my case, I barely meet the min CPU, I pass the recommended GPU and RAM, but damn 150GB of storage? And in SSD form for the max ones. I thought this game was supposed to use the cloud.

It's Flight Simulator. That one always needed very high specs.

@JEMC And as to why a Radeon VII instead of a 5700X: It can possibly put it's raw power better to use, similar to GPGPU workloads. Again, that's something which wouldn't be too surprising for Flight Simulator. Either way AMD doesn't have anything as powerful as a 2080 in gaming workloads yet, so they couldn't put something of equal performance there either way.

You're right, in some cases the Radeon VII is faster than a 5700XT, and maybe this is one of those games where this is the case.

That's something that won't happen again with AMD (finally) splitting their architectures in two, for gaming and HPC.

6GB HD Texture Pack released for Dark Souls Remastered, overhauling maps, objects and enemies
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/6gb-hd-texture-pack-released-for-dark-souls-remastered-overhauling-maps-objects-and-enemies/
Evelyn Schwab has released a new HD Texture Pack for Dark Souls Remastered. This new HD Texture Pack weights around 6GB in size, and overhauls a lot of textures. Thus, we strongly suggest using this pack in case you want to replay this game.
According to the modder, this is a full faithful texture replacement for maps, objects and enemies. Evelyn Schwab has used a mix of hand-made textures and ESRGAN upscaling tech. Furthermore, this pack is compatible with overhaul mods, and you can use it while playing online.
(...)
In order to install this mod, you’ll also have to download and extract TKGP’s Texture Packer and Unpacker. After that, you can download all the main files for this mod. Then, you must extract both Map archives and the Object/Character archive into the texture override folder of the texture packer and unpacker. Run DSR-TPUP.exe, enter the correct game directory, click Repack and you’ll be ready to go.

Cook your enemies with this Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord fire mod
https://www.pcgamer.com/mount-and-blade-2-bannerlord-fire-mod/
Swords are, I've been told, pretty dangerous. They're sharp, apparently, and who knows was grime the blade is coated in? You could get an infection. But they're also a bit boring. I've seen loads of swords in Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord. After every battle, I usually have 50 of them in my inventory, just taking up room until I can sell them. Now, if they were all on fire, I'd probably take more notice.
Fire Lord heats up the Early Access sandbox by introducing fire arrows and slightly more mystical fire-enchanted swords, axes and polearms. Bannerlord doesn't have fire damage at the moment, so modder PureDark has implemented their own system where all warriors have an ignition bar that goes up to 100 points, at which point they start to get pretty toasty.

This open world Lego Bionicle fan game looks ridiculously ambitious
https://www.pcgamer.com/this-open-world-lego-bionicle-fan-game-looks-ridiculously-ambitious/
A few minutes into an extended gameplay video for Bionicle: Quest for Mata Nui, the narrator casually mentions that this fanmade open world RPG will support up to six players in co-op. It's the kind of impossibly ambitious fan project that sounds like it would never actually get made or released, but Quest for Mata Nui looks quite far along already, with nimble combat, NPCs with quests, and a bunch of different environments. Barring a takedown order from Lego, this one might live long enough to be finished.
