Far Cry 4: Redux mod is now available for download, brings multiple gameplay improvements & changes
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/far-cry-4-redux-mod-is-now-available-for-download-brings-multiple-gameplay-improvements-changes/
BigTinz has released a new overhaul mod for Far Cry 4. Far Cry 4: Redux is a mod that focuses on immersion, and aims to improve the gameplay mechanics of this FC game.
According to the modder, this Redux version of Far Cry 4 allows players to manually reload. It also disables Lens Flares, and allows you to holster your weapons.
Players can now jump higher and walk slower. Players also do not automatically draw their weapons after swimming or after leaving a building.
All weapons are unlocked from the start, though they must be purchased. Towers also remove the fog of war, but do not give free weapons. Not only that, but the full map is open from the start.
>> And those aren't the only changes, described in the article. You can get it from ModDB.

You can now experience the first The Witcher game in VR & Unreal Engine 4, supports Oculus, HTC & WMR
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/you-can-now-experience-the-first-the-witcher-game-in-vr-unreal-engine-4-supports-oculus-htc-wmr/
The Witcher fans, here is something for you today. Patryk Loan has released a brand new project that allows you to experience the first The Witcher game in VR. This “mod” currently supports Oculus, HTC, and Windows Mixed Reality.
Before continuing, let’s clarify something really important here. This project does not bring mod support to the vanilla game. Instead, the modder is remaking some of the game’s maps in Unreal Engine 4 with VR support.
At the moment, this project only features one map, Kaer Morhen. As such, players can walk and explore the iconic castle in VR. There aren’t any combat mechanics, and you should not expect to find any enemies.
>> You can find it at Nexus Mods.

Doosk is a Doom 2 mod that's full of weapons from Dusk
https://www.pcgamer.com/doosk-is-a-doom-2-mod-thats-full-of-weapons-from-dusk/
The newly released Doosk mod ports all the weapons from the fast-paced action game Dusk into the classic FPS Doom 2. Available to download on ModDB, The mod not only ports Dusk's weapons but also an array of features like game achievements, mutators, and an optional ZMovement.
The coming together of two of game's goriest retro shooters was uploaded by AlphaEnt and includes a bunch of features beyond just weapons. A few highlights are the custom HD that recreates the look of the original Dusk, an intruder mode where you start a level with only sickles for those who want a challenge, and the inclusion of ZMovement called "Dusk movement" that allows players to move around as you would in the original Dusk game. The mod description also says there will be a bigger Big John than Big Jon, keeping the meme from Dusk's developers New Blood Interactive alive.

RimWorld 1.1 beefs up mod support, adds tortured artists, ducks, and donkeys
https://www.pcgamer.com/rimworld-11-beefs-up-mod-support-adds-tortured-artists-ducks/
Hit survival-strategy RimWorld may have released in 2018, but it’s clearly not done with new stuff. A new beta of the game’s 1.1 update just came out on Steam, and it’s chock full of new features and tweaks. The biggest changes are all for the game’s network of extensive mods, smoothing and improving the experience of managing mods and mod compatibility. There’s also sharper UI at scale, so RimWorld looks better in 4K. It’s still an unstable branch, so there’s a bit of work to be done yet, but if you’re raring to go on more RimWorld you can jump in now.

Icy MudRunner sequel SnowRunner comes skidding to an April release
https://www.pcgamer.com/icy-mudrunner-sequel-snowrunner-comes-skidding-to-an-april-release/
Grab your snow chains and lock your differentials, SnowRunner is coming on April 28, 2020. This is the sequel to MudRunner, aka Spintires: MudRunner, and we first got a good look at it last summer as it—and the first game—cycled through several name changes. The game’s entry has just popped up on the Epic Games Store for an April release, with a Navistar 5000-MV in winterized digital camo as a pre-order bonus. There are also lovely new screenshots.

Tactical RPG Broken Lines’ new trailer and characters highlight a grim war
https://www.pcgamer.com/tactical-rpg-broken-lines-new-trailer-and-characters-highlight-a-grim-war/
We were pretty intrigued about Broken Lines when it was announced last year, and we’re definitely more intrigued now that we’ve seen more of it. Broken Lines is a tactical RPG with an emphasis on story that’s set in an alternate history World War 2, due to release on February 25th.. It’s supposed to be quite character focused, and much of the story is about the eight soldiers who form your makeshift and leaderless squad—their interactions, conflicts, and personalities. A new trailer really drives home that this isn’t an average RPG.

Survival RPG Outward has a DLC coming called The Soroboreans
https://www.pcgamer.com/survival-rpg-outward-has-a-dlc-coming-called-the-soroboreans/
Cult hit survival RPG Outward is getting a new DLC this spring focusing on its reclusive merchant-academic-wizard faction, the Soroboreans. The DLC will add more character choices, enchantments, and what seems like some post-game adventures to Outward. The game’s survival aspects will also get more hardcore, since a new system of Corruption will affect you in certain areas: “The level of corruption affects you in different ways,” said a press release, “and if you can’t shake it you could meet an untimely end. The world just got a whole lot scarier.” Which is kind of bothersome because Outward was already scary enough, thank you.

Paradox will continue to experiment with selling games outside of Steam
https://www.pcgamer.com/paradox-will-continue-to-experiment-with-selling-games-outside-of-steam/
Think of all the different ways you bought and otherwise spent money on games throughout 2019. Microtransactions, full games, early access, DLC, game bundles, subscriptions? I've always tried to stick to buying full games and maybe a bit of DLC, but recently I've started to branch out from that. I put it down to game publishers experimenting with new ways to encourage me to part with my dosh, and succeeding in doing that.
This is something that Paradox CEO Ebba Ljungerd touches on in the company's newly published year-end report for 2019. She notes that for the past decade Steam has been, and still is, an important distribution channel for Paradox. However, Ljungerd says "we know that player behavior changes over time and therefore it is important for us to continuously test new distribution channels."

13 of Steam's top 20 new games in January were made in Asia
https://www.pcgamer.com/13-of-steams-top-20-new-games-in-january-were-made-in-asia/
Valve's rundown of the top 20 games released on Steam in January 2020 comes with a fun little side of trivia: The top 20 games released in January 2010. The 2010 list isn't actually a top 20, though, but just a top 11, because there were only 11 new games released on the platform that month—and of that 11, only three would have made it into the top 20 list in 2020.

Someone is selling the free, open source Playnite launcher on Steam for $100
https://www.pcgamer.com/someone-is-selling-the-free-open-source-playnite-launcher-on-steam-for-dollar100/
Playnite is a free open source PC application designed to be an all-in-one answer to the growing number of game launchers we've all got on our desktops. In other words, it combines libraries from the likes of Steam, Epic Games Store, Uplay and GOG Galaxy, and then lets you organise them however you see fit. Jody tried it last year and came away impressed.
I should emphasise the "free" above: it is available straight from the source here and, according to the site, "no features are locked behind a paywall and the complete source code is available under the MIT license". The MIT license basically surrenders the software to any kind of use with no restrictions, including resales.
That latter point has clearly resonated for some, because a version of Playnite has appeared on Steam for a whopping $100 (£79 / AU$139). It bears the same Playnite logo, the same UI, and all of the same features. And as you've probably guessed, it's entirely within the publisher's rights to do so.

This Doom wad turns Zombies Ate My Neighbors into a first-person shooter
https://www.pcgamer.com/this-doom-wad-turns-zombies-ate-my-neighbors-into-a-first-person-shooter/
Zombies Ate My Neighbors released in 1993 for 16-bit consoles, and it was as straightforward as games come: you kill a bunch of monsters (not all of them are zombies) and rescue survivors. That very same year another game concerning the slaying of monsters released, and while it was arguably even more straightforward, it was a much bigger deal.
That game was Doom, and now in 2020, Doom and Zombies Ate My Neighbors are together at last. Modder Dude27th has been working on a Zombies Ate My Neighbors total conversion .wad for GZDOOM since at least 2016, and a demo was released last year. I only learned about it today (thanks, Destructoid), but it's worth drawing attention to, because the ye olde formula works remarkably well in a first-person game.

https://www.pcgamer.com/rainbow-six-siege-will-get-secondary-gadgets-that-let-attackers-carry-a-little-thatcher-or-thermite-in-their-pocket/
Ubisoft wants to crack Rainbow Six Siege’s attacking meta wide open. Currently, team composition feels hamstrung by the importance of hard breachers and electronic disabling operators like Thermite, Hibana, and Thatcher. On certain objective locations, attackers are at a huge disadvantage if they can't pop open a key reinforced wall. To add more variety to the meta, Ubisoft plans to distribute these roles to more operators via new secondary gadgets.

I believe the original plan was for 4 games.  Possibly 5 if scope has increased.  Assuming the games continue to make money, then I see no reason why the story won't be finished.

It's a bloody curse of modern age, everything has to get a remake for the masses - and sadly, it is painfully obvious those fuckers at THQ have no clue what made Gothic so different and special.
