Konami takes down the Unreal Engine 4-powered fan remake of Silent Hills P.T.
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/konami-takes-down-the-unreal-engine-4-powered-fan-remake-of-silent-hills-p-t/
And another one bites the dust. Last month, GameJolt’s Qimsar released a beta version of his PT remake in Unreal Engine 4, however, Konami got in touch with him and shut down the project. Not that this surprised us but… yeah… we all knew this would happen.
Still, the good news for Qimsar is that – according to him – Konami is offering an internship to him so he can do various stuff for Konami EU, US and JP.

>>Not surprising at all.

https://www.pcgamer.com/community-farm-is-a-24000-tile-stardew-valley-map-for-10-person-multiplayer/
Technically, Stardew Valley multiplayer was designed for four players, but technicalities have never stopped modders before and they're sure as hell not going to slow their roll for Stardew Valley, of all games. Case in point: Community Farm, a content pack by modder SgtPickles which comes fully loaded with a massive 156x156 map and support for 10-person multiplayer.

Friday news, the second part:

Old School Runescape pulled offline as billions of gold appear out of nowhere
https://www.pcgamer.com/old-school-runescape-pulled-offline-as-billions-of-gold-appear-out-of-nowhere/
Every Old School Runescape player dreams of one day attaining the most gold you can possibly carry: 2.147 billion, the fabled "max cash." Due to a bug introduced in an update this morning, for many players that dream suddenly came true: countless OSRS players received max cash stacks from sources which would normally yield a few thousand gold. As a result, roughly 20 minutes after the update went live, developer Jagex outright turned the game off, temporarily disabling all servers while they look into the gold duplication bug.
Update: Old School Runescape is back online following a 20-minute server rollback. In other words, all of the gold generated by the bug has vanished as quickly as it appeared. Additionally, mischievous players who purchased in-game bonds using ill-gotten gold and redeemed them for membership have had their 'bonus' membership revoked and "will also see action taken against their accounts and will temporarily be removed from the game." Everyone else should be in the clear, though Jagex advises some players "may be affected by an issue attributed to their save files which will prevent them from logging in," which the studio is still working to resolve.

Ben Brode's new studio is called Second Dinner
https://www.pcgamer.com/ben-brodes-new-studio-is-called-second-dinner/

Fortnite is making so much money that Epic is giving Unreal Marketplace creators a big raise
https://www.pcgamer.com/fortnite-is-making-so-much-money-that-epic-is-giving-unreal-marketplace-creators-a-big-raise/
Epic announced "a sweeping change" to the marketplace yesterday that will boost creators' take on their sales to 88 percent, a significantly above-standard rate increase that applies to all transactions going forward—and (this is the really good bit) to all previous transactions as well, all the way back to the launch of the UE Marketplace in 2014. In other words, marketplace sellers, especially those who have been around for awhile, could be in for a surprise, and potentially very lucrative, windfall.

CS:GO players in Belgium and the Netherlands can no longer open loot cases
https://www.pcgamer.com/csgo-players-in-belgium-and-the-netherlands-can-no-longer-open-loot-cases/
The latest update to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive brings both good news and bad news for players in the Netherlands. Steam trading and Steam Market functionality, which were disabled last month, have been re-enabled, but players in the country, as well as Belgium, are no longer able to open containers—which is to say, loot boxes.

Baldur's Gate lead designer James Ohlen has left BioWare after 22 years
https://www.pcgamer.com/baldurs-gate-lead-designer-james-ohlen-has-left-bioware-after-22-years/
James Ohlen has been with BioWare for an awfully long time: 22 years, in fact. He was the lead designer on the original Baldur's Gate and has racked up design and writing credits since then on games including Neverwinter Nights, Knights of the Old Republic, Jade Empire, Dragon Age: Origins, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and Mass Effect: Andromeda. Most recently, he'd been working on the upcoming Anthem. So it really marked the end of an era when he announced today on Twitter that he has left the company.

Ahead of the expansion's launch on August 14, Blizzard has just announced a date for the World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth pre-patch – and it's coming next week. On July 17 the patch will roll out, serving to bridge the gap between Battle for Azeroth and last year's Legion expansion. As always, it's not just tweaks and changes: there's actual gameplay stuff added as well.

'Indie is bigger than ever and also it is dead,' says Vlambeer's Rami Ismail
https://www.pcgamer.com/indie-is-bigger-than-ever-and-also-it-is-dead-says-vlambeers-rami-ismail/
The indie scene is busier than ever, and as such has become increasingly difficult to define. Speaking at the Develop conference in Brighton, Vlambeer's Rami Ismail said "indie is bigger than ever, and also it is dead."
As reported by MCV (via PCGamesN), Ismail explains this is a good thing—during his keynote alongside Mike Bithell—and that the "best thing that has happened to game development is that somebody took a sledgehammer to all those big concepts and then shattered them into a million pieces." He reckons indie game development, as it's perceived today, echoes the foundations of punk rock.

Cities: Skylines, Orwell, Darksiders join EA's Origin Access
https://www.pcgamer.com/cities-skylines-orwell-darksiders-join-eas-origin-access/
Here's what happens when four players try to run one town in Cities: Skylines. It ain't pretty. In fact it's so ugly, I reckon you're better going it alone—which you can now do via EA's Origin Access. The subscription service has now opened its doors to Colossal Order's city-builder, and seven other games.
Darksiders: Warmastered Edition also joins Origin, alongside Rime, Orwell: Ignorance is Strength, Mad Games Tycoon, Jotun Valhalla Edition, Ghost 1.0 and Crashlands.

>>Call me suspicious, but I think the author of the article doesn't like Origin...

Haze, Afro Samurai and Armored Core V running in 4K resolution on the PC thanks to RPCS3
https://www.dsogaming.com/videotrailer-news/haze-afro-samurai-and-armored-core-v-running-in-4k-resolution-on-the-pc-thanks-to-rpcs3/
John GodGames Emus has released some new videos, showing Haze, Afro Samurai, Armored Core V and Clash of the Titans running in 4K on the PC thanks to the Playstation 3 emulator, RPCS3.
From what we can see, Haze and Afro Samurai are completely playable on RPCS3 without any major graphical glitches. These games ran with constant 30fps in 4K on an NVIDIA GeForce GTX1080 graphics card with the Vulkan API, so PC gamers can finally experience them.
On the other hand, Armored Core V and Clash of the Titans are playable but Clash of the Titans has some annoying graphical glitches and Armored Core V has both graphical glitches and major audio issues. Still, performance appears to be fine so we are pretty sure that these games will be fully playable in the next future releases.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Sly Cooper & Chaotic: Shadow Warriors running in 4K on PC thanks to RPCS3
https://www.dsogaming.com/videotrailer-news/tekken-tag-tournament-2-sly-cooper-chaotic-shadow-warriors-running-in-4k-on-pc-thanks-to-rpcs3/
Yesterday, we shared some videos showing Haze, Afro Samurai, Armored Core V and Clash of the Titans running in 4K on the best Playstation 3 emulator, RPCS3. And today, we present you Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Sly Cooper, Chaotic: Shadow Warriors and FEAR 3 running on this amazing emulator.
According to the RPCS3 team, the first Sly Cooper game is now fully playable on RPCS3, from start to finish. Tekken Tag Tournament 2 also appears to be perfectly playable and runs with 60fps, though there are still some minor glitches.
Chaotic: Shadow Warriors is an action game based on the Chaotic TV series that came out in 2009 and from what we see, this title is also playable.

You can significantly overhaul the AI in Aliens: Colonial Marines by simply deleting one letter
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/you-can-significantly-overhaul-the-ai-in-aliens-colonial-marines-by-simply-deleting-one-letter/
Aliens: Colonial Marines was criticized by a lot of gamers for its mediocre AI for the xenomorphs. We’ve seen countless of GIFs with the aliens acting really stupid, and it was one of the – many – reasons that gamers despised that Aliens game. However, what if I told you that you can significantly overhaul the AI by simply deleting one letter in your .INI configuration file?
Seems impossible, right? However, that’s exactly what modder ‘jamesdickinson963’ discovered. For some unknown reason, the AI routine for xenomorph is spelled incorrectly in the game’s configuration file and by fixing you can make the aliens behave in a more sensible and clever way.

Doom 64 remake in Doom 2 is complete and available for download
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/doom-64-remake-in-doom-2-is-complete-and-available-for-download/
Modder ‘Mechadon’ has released the final version of his Doom 64 remake in Doom 2, called D64D2. This Doom 64 remake in Doom 2 basically brings all the map layouts from Doom 64 in the classic Doom 2 game with assets from Doom 2 for all enemies and objects. In other words, this is completely different to the Doom 64: Retribution mod we reported back in February.

Fallout 4 Northern Springs is a massive free fan DLC, larger than both Nuka World and Far Harbor
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/fallout-4-northern-springs-is-a-massive-free-fan-dlc-larger-than-both-nuka-world-and-far-harbor/
Modular Illusions has released a brand new mod for Fallout 4, Norther Springs. Northern Springs is a massive free fan DLC that is larger than both Nuka World and Far Harbor that adds an enormous land to explore with new quests, new weapons, new armor, settlements and much more to find.
Fallout 4 Northern Springs DLC features over 25 quests, 4 jobs to choose from, 4 new followers (that are fully functional and with voices), 3 settlements to find and build your own settlements, 2 player homes, random ghost spotting, as well as new weapons, armor and enemies.

Fallout Atlanta is a new massive Fallout New Vegas mod, featuring new areas, quests, weapons, textures and more
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/fallout-atlanta-is-a-new-massive-fallout-new-vegas-mod-featuring-new-areas-quests-weapons-textures-and-more/
Fallout Atlanta will feature a new environment to explore, NCPs with dialogue, new quests, new vendors, interiors to buildings (with couple of interiors that have been custom built e.g Super market , Subway), a new Casino, a new quest type such as piece-by-piece where you find keys to unlock rooms within a apartment left by a deranged killer, unique settlements such as vine city and the reverse, new textures and meshes, new weapons and amours, new items, new map markers, early development of factions that roam the city, well crafted unmarked locations and an early development of a new vibe that will be different to New Vegas or any other fallout game. This huge mod is currently in its alpha stage, meaning that all the aforementioned features have not been implemented yet. Its latest alpha version comes with new locations, new interiors, new NPCS, new dialogue and new vendors.

>>The mod is also available from Nexus Mods.

Fallout 4 meets Silent Hill 2 in horror mod Claustrophobia
https://www.pcgamer.com/fallout-4-meets-silent-hill-2-in-horror-mod-claustrophobia/
"After receiving a lead to a condemned apartment complex on the outskirts of West Roxbury, you are compelled to visit it." You probably wouldn't guess it, but that's the setup for a Fallout 4 mod (OK, sure, West Roxbury kinda gives it away, but play along). It's called Claustrophobia, and it's a little house of horrors inspired by Silent Hill 2 and Resident Evil 1 built entirely within Fallout 4.
Claustrophobia creator Supernath97 describes the mod as "a fan homage to the cancelled Silent Hills game," and says it takes about 30 minutes to complete once you make your way to the condemned apartment, which is apparently filled with unkillable monsters and secret notes. There's also a custom Deathclaw (created by modder Hopper31), which makes it sound a bit like an extension of Devil's Due, a sidequest that sends you to a creepy mansion turned Deathclaw nest, one of my favorite quests.

You can now play Darksiders 2 in first-person mode thanks to this mod
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/you-can-now-play-darksiders-2-in-first-person-mode-thanks-to-this-mod/
Perhaps it’s just me but I love mods that enable different camera perspectives. We’ve seen such a mod for Metal Gear Solid V and The Evil Within 2 even had an official FPS mode (that was later unlocked for the entire game thanks to a patch). And today, modder ‘Loki’ is offering a first-person mod for Darksiders 2. As said, this mod will change the game from third person to first person.
However, do note that this is a CheatEngine script, meaning that will need Cheat Engine to use it. This mod also does not affect the Reaper Form (which will be still in third-person) as – according to the modder – the current state of the mod would be terrible in a first-person mode for the Reaper Form.

>>Check the article for the links to both the mod and CheatEngine.

Resident Evil 4 HD project mod now available to download
https://www.pcgamer.com/resident-evil-4-hd-project-mod-now-available-to-download/
After four years of development, the fan-made HD update to Resident Evil 4 is now available to download.
Although Capcom released its own HD Remaster in 2014, it wasn’t the complete overhaul fans had hoped for. Specifically, many of the game’s textures were left in their vanilla state.
The HD Project mod aims to be the overhaul that Capcom’s version wasn’t, and its creators have gone to remarkable lengths to make it happen. The project lead, Albert, actually visited the locations where Capcom originally sourced the game’s textures (primarily Spain and Wales) to gather new images which the mod's higher-resolution materials are based upon.

>>You can download it from its official website.

The DLC, according to PCGamesN, will send players off to an island populated by worshippers of Rymrgand, the titular "Beast of Winter" and "god of collapse." Nothing can stop Dauntless' bugged laser beam
https://www.pcgamer.com/nothing-can-stop-dauntless-bugged-laser-beam/
Dauntless is a free-to-play co-op action RPG about hunting big-ol' monsters called Behemoths. It's a game explicitly about boss fights where positioning and timing are of the utmost importance and preparation is half the battle. So you can imagine how jarring it is to see players casually melt Behemoths with a rainbow laser beam from sniper range.
Update: Dauntless developer Phoenix Labs offered an update on the Godhand laser bug, promising a proper fix in an upcoming update.

https://www.pcgamer.com/episode-3-of-the-council-arrives-later-this-month/

Titled “Ripples”, the third episode will continue the story of Louis de Richet, who belongs to an 18th Century secret society whose members include George Washington and Napoleon Bonaparte. Its heavy emphasis on dialogue and player-choice is similar to DontNod’s Life is Strange, only with less teenage angst and more powdered wigs.

The Culling 2 gets hit with very negative reviews on Steam and low player numbers
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-culling-2-gets-hit-with-very-negative-reviews-on-steam/
The Culling 2 released on Tuesday, with Xaviant having halted development of the original Culling to produce the sequel. This decision hasn’t gone down well with its player base. The Culling 2 currently sports a rarely glimpsed “Very Negative rating on Steam, having received a slew of scathing reviews (13% positive at time of writing). “This is NOT the Culling”, says user Kaffe “It is more a bad rip-off of PUBG and H1Z1”. Steam user Fairlight was even less complimentary, stating “I stubbed my toe on the way to install this game. It was the most enjoyable part of the experience.”

MoonQuest hits Early Access after seven years in development
https://www.pcgamer.com/moonquest-hits-early-access-after-seven-years-in-development/
Procedurally generated Terraria-like MoonQuest has launched in Steam Early Access, after a whopping seven years in development.
The game looks like familiar survival and crafting fare set in a bizarre alien world. Players mine the game’s environment for both resources and adventures, building structures and crafting new equipment to sustain themselves in a world populated by hopping spiders and weird long-necked horse-things (NOT giraffes, I know what they look like). You can also wield environmental hazards like fire and lava to your advantage.

Seed, Klang's ambitious EVE-like MMO, teases scale of interconnected world
https://www.pcgamer.com/seed-klangs-ambitious-eve-like-mmo-teases-scale-of-interconnected-world/
Seed is a hugely ambitious in-development MMO that echoes EVE Online, Rimworld and The Sims. Developed by Klang Games and powered by Improbable's SpatialOS tech, its persistent simulation is inspired by Facebook and its construction and management systems pull from the likes of Dwarf Fortress. Its hugely ambitious, and its latest trailer teases the scale of its interconnected world.

Sekiro resurrection mechanic allows for deadlier combat than Dark Souls, says Miyazaki

Sekiro, From Software's next game, subverts nearly everything we've come to expect from Dark Souls, said Steven after a hands-off demo at E3. One major change is its resurrection mechanic, which lets players revive themselves immediately without returning to a checkpoint. And despite how it might sound, game director Hidetaka Miyazaki says this can make Sekiro harder than Souls, not easier.

It will be free, so of course I'll get it.

Then I really hope you share your impressions on it... you know, to safe the rest of us to play it if it's bad .

LPDDR5 is a surprising announcement. - Especially considering how many devices are still clinging to antiquated LPDDR3.
It's even borrowing a couple of tricks from GDDR5.

I just purchased a Galaxy Note 8 outright and retired the old Note 5, so at-least there is a reason for me to upgrade in a couple of years. :)

I don't care much about smartphones, and I tend to upgrade only when the one I use starts to fail, so I only have two reasons to care about LPDDR5:

1) That means that DDR5 for PCs is getting closer, which is both good and bad, as always.

2) That kind of RAM paired with a tweaked Nvidia Xavier SoC (details were revealed yesterday, with 8 Carmel AMR64 CPU cores, 512 Volta GPU cores, 16GB 256-bit LPDDR4 memory interface and capable of operating at 10, 15 and/or 30W) would make for a great Switch 2, capable of offering equal or better graphics than PS4/X1. But I think this is not the best thread to talk about it.
