I'm not playing it myself, but for competitive games, like this (CS:GO), 32:9 is really big bonus

What's more, those ultrawide screens would allow me to use 1600x1200 resolutions, something that my 1080p can't, so while I would still get black bars on the side (which I don't mind), I could actually play the game at a higher res than I'm doing now.

Well, almost any monitor with 1200p or above can do that, no matter if they are ultrawide, 16:9, 16:10 or 4:3. On the other hand, around half of the ultrawide models can't do that because they are only 1080p in height (2560x1080 still is quite popular for ultrawide monitors).

LOL, I love the new Cherry MX Blue keyboard I got, it's so satisfying pressing the keys and hearing the clicks!

I also ended up getting a new desktop as my old one crapped out, and man, I've never used a 144Hz monitor before today so it's going to take some getting used to

So, yesterday I saw in person one of those Samsung 49" monitors, and my God that thing is large! It's hilarious. If I had one of those, I would end with neck pain, like if I had watched a tennis match from the net.

I can't believe they've sold enough of those to make a bigger, 5120x1440, model... or maybe it didn't sell enough and Samsung is trying again with a bigger res to see if that changes something.

Well, gaming on ultrawides like that is great if you use them properly - as a way to have better peripheral vision. If you sit too close and do indeed turn your head too much, I guess you might end up with neck pain eventually (though, this is basically 2 wide monitors side by side, something that I've been using at work for some 15 years without any problems).

I used to run Eyefinity with a 5760x1080 and later 7680x1440 resolution. (Triple 1080P and 1440P)
The experience is (Excuse my language) fucking amazing.

You don't actually need to move your head that much, your peripheral vision does the work.

These days though... I am running with a 32" 1440P panel. 1440P seems to be the sweet spot in terms of hardware demands/cost in my opinion.
If anything, higher refresh rates would be good.

I stick with 16:9 because almost all games are optimized for that. IMHO the field of view of 16:9 - 16:10 is also the best.

For Excel & Co. I just enhance the desktop to monitor 2 to have more working space.

Majority of games pick up oddball aspect ratios or can be simply configured to support said resolutions.

The big issue is things like media which is typically 16:9.

True. I let my own situation slip through there.

First a PS4 Pro and now a new PC and monitor? You're spending a lot.... Did any of you heard about a bank robbery or something?

I own a mechanical keyboard too, but with dampened browns, and I like it a lot.

Correct.
It's just cruel telling us that he bought a new PC, without listing the components.
