40" 4K HDR 144Hz G-sync would be amazing.

Be happy with the 27" ones that will, finally, launch at the end of this month.

I just don't know why they're not going bold with this. That's the biggest leap forward in monitor technology in a long time and they couldn't spare a few inch more to appreciate the HDR and stuff more? 27" is fine but would it really hurt to go for 35"?

Someone is remaking the Gameboy Advance version of Grand Theft Auto in GTA 3, beta version available
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/someone-is-remaking-the-gameboy-advance-version-of-grand-theft-auto-in-gta-3-beta-version-available/
Modder ‘Xrtist//’ is currently working on a remake of the Gameboy Advance version of Grand Theft Auto in Grand Theft Auto III. GTA Advance is a sequel to LCS and a prequel to GTA 3. The game takes place in the year 2000, 2 years after LCS (98) and 1 year before GTA3 (2001).
However, as the modder noted, GTA Advance had a bigger Liberty City map than GTAIII and as such he will just create the year 2000 LC on the PC version of the city (and won’t recreate the entire map).

GTA Online's battle royale mode Motor Wars gets double GTA$ and experience

Following some unforeseen server downtime this week, it appears GTA Online is now fully functional. Rockstar has in turn rolled out its weekly update a day later than planned, which grants Motor Wars, VIP and Biker work double in-game money and RP. Likewise, last week's new Trap Door adversary mode is, for the second week running, extended the same bonus.

Try the first few hours of Stoneshard, a medieval RPG about building a caravan
https://www.pcgamer.com/try-the-first-few-hours-of-stoneshard-a-medieval-rpg-about-building-a-caravan/
Stoneshard is an isometric RPG inspired by Diablo and Darkest Dungeon. It caught my attention last year because, on top of permadeath, it has a profoundly punishing injury system. You don't just drink a potion in Stoneshard. You put splints on broken bones and poultices on open wounds, and there's no guarantee your injuries won't get worse or infected. You also have to take care of your mental health to fend off phobias and magic-induced insanity.

Runescape Classic is closing
https://www.pcgamer.com/runescape-classic-is-closing/
Yesterday, we reviewed Old School Runescape, a sandbox MMO based on Runescape as it was in 2007. And despite its advanced age, we found it to be pretty good stuff: "It's not always fun, it's often hard work, and most people don't know why the hell you would even bother. But it's damn satisfying to step back and see how your efforts have paid off." Today, in a coincidental bit of timing, Jagex announced that Runescape Classic, the even older, original Runescape, is finally being closed.

We Happy Few was refused classification by the Australian Classification Board earlier this week, meaning it won't be available to purchase in the country. Since then, the board has issued a statement to us about why it was banned (more on that later), and today studio Compulsion Games has advised players how they plan to address the situation.

As part of its most recent PC patch, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds tweaked its sound settings. Developer PUBG Corp has now apologised for not detailing said changes in the update's patch notes.
"First things first," reads this Steam Community update, "we should have explained the change in the patch notes. We messed up here, and we hope you’ll accept our apology."

The problem is the cost. I'm sure they could do make them, but how many will be able to buy one?

Those 27" monitors will, judging by what retailers say, cost around 2,500 €. Making one with an even bigger panel will drive the cost up to the 3,000 mark. That's insane.

Of course, if you can live without one or two of the extras, the HDR 1000, 144Hz, local dimming or G-Sync, then there are (or will be) alternatives.

Oh, I have a fair idea about its size - that's, more or less, 2x 24inch monitors slapped together. I have that setup currently at work, they are at 1m distance from my eyes.

At home I have my 23" monitor next to a 23" TV, and I use both at the same time. Still, I was impressed by the size of it.

What can I say, I'm easy to impress.

Oh, I have no doubt I'd be impressed with it as well, after all that's a lot of seamless screen space in one monitor.

Actually, those type of monitors are quite up my alley, i'd take peripheral vision over resolution, refresh and all other bells and whistles any time (not that I'd mind any of those as well), but I'm still mostly using 1080p projector on really big screen, so I'm kinda stuck with it for a while.

I'd take an ultra wide monitor (but 1440p, not 1080p) over one of those Samsungs (and LG, because it looks like them want to give it a go too). I don't need my monitor to be so wide.

But that doesn't mean that ultra wides aren't getting some love from manufacturers. Later this year, AUO will launch a 35" model with 512-zone FALD backlight, 200Hz refresh rate, 90% DCI-P3 coverage and 600 cd/m2 brightness (1000 cd/m2 peak brightness for HDR). The only "downside" is that it's VA (sorry Pemalite). And LG should be already producing a 34" IPS model with a 144Hz refresh rate and HDR 400. So things are advancing too in that front.

Hey guys, have you noticed the new Steam thingy, The Spring Cleaning Event? Isn't it a bit late for something Spring related?

In any case, it's not like this involves new sales or anything like that.

Though I do like the idea of having an ultra wide monitor, and I have seen my friend's one in action, I don't think I'll ever go for one. Simply because there are a lot of games out there both old and new that do not support the extended width res.

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

So pay up motherfuckers you belong to "V"

I stick with 16:9 because almost all games are optimized for that. IMHO the field of view of 16:9 - 16:10 is also the best.

For Excel & Co. I just enhance the desktop to monitor 2 to have more working space.

The resolution problem doesn't bother me much, to be honest.

Right now I'm playing (or trying to ) play Return to Castle Wolfenstein and that game can't even take advantage of panoramic screens. What's more, those ultrawide screens would allow me to use 1600x1200 resolutions, something that my 1080p can't, so while I would still get black bars on the side (which I don't mind), I could actually play the game at a higher res than I'm doing now.
