Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii U 2014 release calender

I think a full blown Pokemon game with NFC toys will be ready to go next fall. That may be their center piece title as Zelda most likely isn't showing up until 2015.

Mario Kart 8 - April?
Yoshi's Epic Yarn - May?
Bayonetta 2 - June?
Super Smash Bros. U - August?
X - September?
Fire Emblem x Shin Megami Tensei - October?
Pokemon NFC - November
Wii Sports U - November

Could be some other things coming too in 2014, like a Bayonetta 1 re-release on Wii U.

I think NST has a Wii U project that will be ready for 2014. Perhaps Star Fox or Metroid. We're probably about due for a Mario Party U. Maybe Nintendo Land 2 happens too.

Zelda will come out in 2015 at the earliest, although knowing Nintendo and their delays the game will probably come out in 2016.

Well what big games do u think will come out that havent been announced yet? Surely theres a few that we dont know about yet

I think 2014 will stay the same as we know thus far (with obviously some less popular tittles here and there). There are already some really big guns for 2014, that's why I think they will push their other big tittles to 2015 and beyond.

We just found out about DK/3D World 6 months before launch so i think its safe to say theres some high profile games planned for next year that we dont know about yet

Pretty good list, I never thought about Pokemon NFC, if done right that game could very well overshadow Skylanders/Disney big time.

if a game sells 3mil it is not a "smaller exclusive", but anyway if Nintendo will cut the price, they have to do this for this holiday imo.

X/Yoshi/SMTxFE have no change in hell to sell more than 1,2mil.

again, they're not going to cut this year.  I'm tellin ya :)  I'd wager that yoshi will be just past 2million if co-op is confirmed.  I'd think it would match kirby's epic yarn.

So we know that we'll have 2 years of remakes--same exact games released the past 10 years. I really would like to see the new xenoblade out before December, but it doesn't look like it will happen, and I really hope a new IP will come rather than these platform and kart games.

Price cut is definitely coming this holiday season. No way in hell Zelda comes out next year, Smash is the big holiday title for Wii U & 3DS in 2014.

Instead of nitpicking my guesses, why dont u come up with some of ur own

Games/marketing/bundles are what I think Nintendo is going with this holiday. Also they said Zelda U was able to be shown at E3 but they decided not to, if its in showable form now then its possible it could release 18 months from now. As for Smash, they said it may have a staggered release, so I think Aug for Wii U and Nov for 3DS

Because aside from the nitpicking I did, you already pretty much nailed the Wii U's entire 2014 lineup lol!

DKC Tropical Freeze is coming out this year, correct?  If that's the case, Retro better have something HUGE to follow up with in '14/'15, otherwise aside from Mario Kart, Smash and whenever Zelda comes out, the Wii U has no other major AAA titles on the horizon.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

To the original post, Mario and Sonic Olympics is currently tentatively set for November 2013 from Nintendo's own investor meeting graphs during E3. Anyway, here are my predictions:

February-Bayonetta 2
March-Mario Kart 8
May-Yarn Yoshi
July-Wii Play U or Wii Sports Resort U?
August-3rd Sonic Game?
September-Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem
October-X
November-Super Smash Bros.

It's so difficult to say, because obviously they have projects that are fairly far along that we know nothing about yet. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see announcements for Kirby, Star Fox, and Metroid at some point next year, whether on Wii U, 3DS or both. I would think 2014 would also see at least one "Wii" series game whether that's Wii Play or more likely Wii Sports of some sort.

Zelda is tough to predict...historically it's a franchise notorious for delays because they polish it to death. On the one hand, they said they almost showed it at E3 this year, implying that it may be farther along than we think. So it's possible Zelda could be the headline release for November 2014 (3 years since Skyward Sword), in which case, Smash Bros. would probably come out sooner like August or September. On the other hand, Zelda often gets delayed and if they're truly trying to make it an open world game where you can freely explore and do things in ANY order (I picture the original Zelda mixed with Skyrim), that's obviously going to take some more time and I think it's far more likely that Zelda will be the marquee title for Holiday 2015. The good news is that if they were close to showing it, that means they must've already decided on an art-style, AND whether they choose motion controls or traditional controls or a mix of both, at least they don't have to waste a year or two in development trying to work out a completely new control scheme. Skyward Sword was delayed by more than a year because they couldn't get the motion controls they wanted until AFTER they'd seen MotionPlus and how it worked in Wii Sports Resort. The thing we CAN count on though, is that we'll see the new Wii U Zelda by E3 next year, if not even sooner in a Nintendo Direct!

Upcoming Games To Get

Definite: Kirby Star Allies (Switch), Mario Tennis Aces (Switch), Fire Emblem (Switch), Yoshi (Switch), Pokemon (Switch), Kingdom Hearts 3 (PS4), Monster Hunter World (PS4)

Considering: Fe (Switch), Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (Switch), The World Ends With You (Switch), Ys VIII (Switch), Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition (PS4), Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Remix (PS4), The Last Guardian (PS4), Shadow of the Colossus HD (PS4), Anthem (PS4), Shenmue 3 (PS4), WiLD (PS4)

I know Nintendo won't, but would be a good choise.

I think the smaller exclusives that have potential to sell 1-3 million units like Bayonetta 2(Feb), X (June)

You serious? Bayonetta shipped 1m on PS360 and Xenoblade around 500K on Wii...
