Forums - Sony Discussion - Uncharted 4 - Francis Drake

Do we really want another Uncharted? Move on and create a new IP.

Uncharted isnt a trilogy based game. It essentially never archs towards and ending in the storyline, but rather to specific locations and missions. Essentially they could do Nathan Drake  as long as Nolan North is up for it or they find a replacement. The already created a new IP as well so quit your complaining. Sony did the smart thing and split up Naughty Dog into two teams and now we have Uncharted and the Last of Us. To think what would've happened if Microsoft did the same for Bungie and allowed them to create newer projects. They probably would never have left.

Ohh yes we do!

If they do make a U4, I really don't see it being that much different than the previous titles. So... Milk away! But if they somehow make it feel different, I will consider it.

We highly differ here then. I love Uncharted the way it is. Improve on the current solutions, but don't make it different. What will always be different is story, setting, puzzles, characters. That's enough for me. I don't think that 3 mainline games for the console is that much and far from milking, if we're getting them with at least 2 year breaks, with the hypothetical Uncharted 4 at least 3 years as I don't see it launching before holiday 2014.

I'm also sure that if they would have only one team, only making Uncharted games, it would be different, but they just launched a new IP.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

i'd like to see uncharted jump to a totally different time. in U3, i loved the parts where you play as young drake (i even thought a spinoff where you always play as young drake would be cool).
they'd need to change the gameplay.

- no excessive shootings, more melee combat or sneaking
- (not all) mayan/atztetic temples aren't destroyed yet

all in all i think the series needs new gameplay mechanics.

- improve the climbing, in the previous games you could not do wrong. press in the right direction and jump. no wrong ways to climb, no situations where you have to react really quick. (vita version did improve that)
- improve combat, let me, for example use the environment more. i always thougt of drake as a smart guy who makes his thoughts and builds traps or uses the stuff he finds.
- improve the riddles. give me a reason for me to discover the environments (like in the vita version)
- stick with tunnel-levels but add some branching ways.

when games getting this kind of reboots the danger is that you change the false things. i want it to feel and play like very uncharted before and not a different game.

but yes, i like the idea.

must-have-list for platforms i don't own yet:

WiiU: Donkey Kong

XBone: Dead Rising 3, Ryse

I'm talking about a new IP for the PS4, not the PS3. Crash=PS1, Jak=PS2, Uncharted=PS3, Uncharted=PS4? That doesn't seem right. And who says I'm complaining, I just don't want to see sequel after sequel that brings nothing new to the table.

I haven't finished yet but it seems like The Last of Us is Naughty Dog's magnum opus. How are they ever going to top that? I almost feel like they should totally switch genres and make RPGs or something because they'll never make a better action game that TLOU.

Expected and i can't wait till when they finally unveil it.

NGGGGGHHHH.

I hope its more open than what it currently is. I would like to see much less cutscenes and more gameplay story. UC3, Im forcing myself to finish the 3rd one this week now. Its more a chore. But I dont want to trade my PS3 until Ive completed UC3 and then bought LOU to playtrough.

Just tighter controls for cover system, less cutscenes and get rid of the filler climbing bits. THeres no challnge to them.

Id rather see ND do a new game. An openworld game set on the seas nd islands based on Drake. That would be awesome.

You don't need to give up hope on variety with Sony, they kind of know what thats all about, they just do it in their own way. Knack looks interesting and it also looks like InFamous might be the breakout title of the new gen seeing as they are going to take full control over the power of the new console. That and Sony has twenty exclusives planned for the first year alone out of thirty games in development so far. All of those games are first party, so whatever second or third party exclusives they get on the PS4 are a bonus. You don't have to like Uncharted but in the new gen I believe it will hold a chest of great secrets (no pun intended).

after playing the last of us yesterday for like 10 hours i don't need a new uncharted anymore. i would be happy to get new the last of us games and a completely new ip next gen...

but if we get a new uncharted i hope it is something about another character like francis drake and not a fourth “standard“ uncharted.
