It's quite funny that Bioshock Infinite, one of the supposed AMD Gaming Evolved titles, runs better on a GeForce than on a Radeon... Seriously, I'm never buying AMD again.

And that ad saddens me a bit. Seeing such a beautiful video card getting destroyed... Almost made me shed a manly tear.

*shrugs* AMD might not be around much longer anyway, as they are selling less and less cards although they have better performance for money than Nvidia in most price segments. After AMD they are gone expect another price bump from both Nvidia (GPU) and Intel (CPU).

But AMD now has the videogame console business too. It's on all three consoles after all (but I guess they get more bucks from MS an Sony than from Nintendo). That should keep them alive for some time.

Also, one advantage nVidia has that it's not mentioned above, is that GeForce's CUDA works like a charm for 3D modeling and design. Unlike AMD ugh!

True...if we expand beyond your average gamer needs, Nvidia has the CUDA for remdering but AMD has the bitcoin mining side covered better.

Now just fix your Catalyst drivers and this might make a debt, AMD.

Right now, better performance = NVIDIA. Sorry, Reds.

^ Quoted for the truth.
Want the best performance? You can't look past nVidia, AMD doesn't even have a *real* answer for Titan unless you look into Dual-GPU, be warned though, the best performance doesn't come cheap.

Personally haven't had any problems with AMD's drivers though... Well, No less than what I have gotten from nVidia in the last 15 odd years and as long as they are cheap, I'll keep buying them up.

I highly doubt the console business is more than just scraps after the bulk of the R&D is done. As none of the chips are manufactured by AMD they can only get money from licenses and from additional R&D for shrinking the chips and so on.

How much money can those licenses get them? Maybe $5 per console? Which would make that $150m per year if 30m consoles are sold per year? That's a tiny amount compared to what they lose in their other businesses.

Whats wrong with the Catalyst? I am finding it much more flexible than Nvidia's. Nvidia drivers still doesn't handle surround properly in Windows 8, 7 months after the OS came out. You can't maximize to single display or center task bar in the middle...

Eh, NVIDIA is always speedier in regards to updates.

This thread, that I've personally posted in over 3 months ago...says otherwise.

As a former AMD user, I know what I experienced. So that will do little to move me on the issue. NVIDIA have gotten slack lately, yes, but still ahead of my AMD days (and this is on top of better performance with the latest graphics cards).

You cant really say that you used to have AMD cards in the past with more driver issues, while you're saying that the new Nvidia GPUs that are less than 2 months old are best. AMD drivers 12.XX and 13 made huge improvements in stability while maintaining their flexibility over Nvidia.

I always say that it depends on what you are doing when it comes to drivers...

Nvidia drivers have much less freedom than AMD drivers. For example, you can't put 3 monitors in Nvidia surround unless they have the exact same horizontal and vertical frequency range. With AMD, you can...

Nvidia locks everything down like 3D vision and Physix where AMD doesn't (like tressfx).

And don't talk to Linux users about Nvidia cause they will say "F...U"

I do like AMD's freedom with their cards, and I could look passed driver support, but the performance is the biggest seller of NVIDIA cards, for me.

As for Linux folks, well, some tend to have a slight "grouping" mentality. So I can't discuss many things, PC, with them

Yeah, I'll be switching to Nvidia soon as it fits my needs. While the single 7950 is great and it overclocks like crazy (can match the 680 overclocked on most games), crossfire and AMD are not ideal... I never understood microsuttering since i was a Nvidia user...I do understand it now.

I see myself with a couple of 770s in SLI in a few weeks. Got o power this setup somehow :)

That's true if you're buying a $400+ card. Otherwise, not so much.

See, even you're making the switch!

Btw, O_O @ that set-up!!

Haha, yeah I go back and forth...

Ive had:

Nvidia: GTX 260 SLI, 470 SLI, 560, 560Ti, 570 SLI, 580 SLI, 670 SLI

AMD: 4870, 6850, 7750 and 7950 crossfire

I should really do 3way SLI to break new ground here...lol.

In terms of setup, its the best you can do when your girlfriend moves in and occupies 80% of the space. You have to consolidate your screens and belongings. :)
