Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii U to have at least 18 exclusives within its first year

Please note that this thread is not intended to make out as though this is important. It's to emphasise the absurdity of the other threads.

Here's the exclusives the Wii U will have had in its first year:

New Super Mario Bros U
Nintendo Land
Rabbids Land
ZombiU
Tank! Tank! Tank!
Game Party Champions
Sing Party
Sports Connection
Your Shape Fitness Evolved 2013
Family Party: 30 Great Games Obstacle Arcade
Rapala Pro Bass Fishing
LEGO City Undercover
Game & Wario
Pikmin 3
The Wonderful 101
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD
Wii Party U

That's 18 titles (not counting New Super Luigi U, which I'm treating as DLC with a retail release, rather than as its own game). It's also not including the following, which may make it within the first year:

Sonic Lost World
Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games

And it isn't including the following that may be argued as exclusives, but have a 3DS or Wii version (or both):

Transformers: Prime - The Game
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
Disney's Planes
The Croods: Prehistoric Party!
Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure
Dragon Quest X (recent PC version announcement notwithstanding)

Note that I didn't include any game set for release in December 2013.

My point? That when they say "15 exclusives" or "20 exclusives" for the first year, it's not that big a number. The Wii U managed around the same number, despite poor third-party support.

it actually is a big number, but i think the issue here is quality and not quantity. Lets take this list and make some fictitious adjustments.

New Super Mario Bros U

"zelda"
ZombiU
"super galaxy fighter"
"silent hill or castlevania exclusive"
"final fantasy spin off"
"pac-man adventure"
"story driven soul caliber spin off"
"new metal gear solid spin off"
"Turrican reboot"
LEGO City Undercover
Pikmin 3
The Wonderful 101
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD

Simply took away all the lackluster titles that really didn't need to be made and threw in some 3rd party titles that have either came out on the wii (and ended up sucking), or throwing out an idea. All of a sudden you have a pretty sweet list that gamers might take notice to.

Do you really think that, when MS says "15 exclusives on Xbox One for first year" and Sony says "20 exclusives on PS4 for first year", they're refusing to count the lower-quality titles on their lists? Do you really think that there won't be some pretty piss-poor titles amongst their launch lineup?

I'm pretty happy with that so far!

WiiU needs more damn support!

The problem is that the other consoles get all the multiplats, while WiiU relies almost solely on those exclusives.

You can get PS4 or Xbone exclusive + all multiplats. If you want WiiU exclusives + all multiplats you need two consoles.

No troll is too much for me to handle. I rehabilitate trolls, I train people. I am the Troll Whisperer.

I have many choice words about EA pulling Madden off the Wii U. I don't like Madden at all, but even I can see that the touchpad and Madden's fecal-based menus are meant to go together.

i don't doubt that they will, but i think those lackluster games will be more like 10% of their llist as opposed to 50%i of the wii-us.  On another note, even some of the competitions lackluster games look incredible.  I'm talking about "spark" in particular.  I would compare that to game & wario in that there not in conventional genre's.  If you do compare them side by side, i think spark blows g&wario (or wii party or whatever else) out of the water.  However, i don't know that spark will be in ms's year one.  Doesn't really matter for me anyway.  I can 't afford a 500$ machine.

yep, the wiiu is an amazing console...

Its a big list, and there is some good games on the list, but most of them are just for there for numbers. That said MS isn't much better, there is a lot of generic games and I'm looking at you titian fall lol. Sony has a good group of exclusives for my money anyway :D.
