Forums - Gaming Discussion - Will the PS4 represent 50% better performance than the X1

I actually think it will be mid/late next year before you get to see any real differences, just because of the amount of effort required to make games on so many platforms. I mean Assassins Creed is coming out on about 6 different platforms, when you do that, you wont be spending much time on enhancing the performance of particular platforms, as they wont have time.

Games coming out this year will have some advantages over their current gen machines, but it's probably a mad rush to get them to work correctly and out on time, so there will most likely be problems with games on both PS4/XboxOne.

So i wont be expecting any major differences this year to be honest... it will be 1st party games that will hold the initial key to performance over the next 6-8 months.

Also Driveclub was very much a concern, i mean they even stated the game was only 35% complete, with only 4 or 5 months to go, thats hardly any time at all.

Digital Foundry concluded that all the first party games were running on Xbox One hardware and Ryse looks as good as any game shown at E3 period.

Edit: I know Ryse isn't first party but it was running on Xbox One hardware as well.

I don't think there will be that big of difference on multiplatform games. Although I think the similarity between the PS4/XB1 architectures will cut down on the shoddy ports between the two platforms.

Just like this gen, claims of Sony's console being more powerful are simply BS.

No single game proves it, and multiplatform games often look better on Xbox 360.

Last gen was a different story. Xbox was more powerful than PS2 and it certainly showed it, to the point where many games simply wouldn't have been possible on the PS2, or if they were, they were significantly reduced.

That article is comparing mostly exclusives. It tells us NOTHING about how PS4 multiplats will perform versus the XB1. Based on the similar architecture and better bandwidth and ease of development is safe to assume PS4 multiplats will be the best.

Of course some games were dropping frames. They're not complete. They're still in development. Damn some people can so ignorant.

Nope. Nothing at all like this gen. If you were even a little bit literate in how technology works you would know that.

PS3 had such a weird architecture and it was much much harder to develop for it. With the next-gen everything is stacked in Sony's favor. Not only is PS4 the most powerful again, but it is also the easiest to develop for and it even has nearly identical architecture. The biggest difference between PS4 and Xbox 1 is the RAM. The RAM advantage goes to the PS4. Then PS4 also has the GPU advantage which has about 50% more performance than the XB1.

As you can see, this is nothing at all like this gen. Not even close.

I would have to say it is up to the devs as well. Forza 5 looks MUCH better than DriveClub despite the 'disadvantages' the XBO has. I don't expect to see huge differences in the multiplats - or at least not like the disparity between PS3 and 360 - but as some have suggested it has to do with the choice of which console is the lead platform for these games.

The foundry also said that rise was running at a choppy frame rate. Graphics and performance go to toe to toe. I sure the ps3 could render a life like city at a frame per hour. the games will look close to the same, the differentiator this gen will come in the form of frame rates.

There will be some exclusive games on PS4 that will look (significantly) better than games on the Xbox One. But only forum-geeks like us will care and it will be less than 10 games in total over the next 5 years.

That does not mean that Xbox One games will look bad. Just like this gen with games like Gears of War or Halo 4. I can tell you that Halo 5 (if it is named like that) will look googeous. Heck, Ryse, Battlefield, Forza look awesome already.

Acutally I think Wii U games look great as well. Look at the Zelda tech demo, or X. Those are good looking games, period.

The difference between PS4 and Xbox One will be as big as PS3 and Xbox 360 or even less.

I agree, for the most part (though I don't think the PS3 had 50% theoretical performance over the 360). More like 10.

the theretical difference between PS3 and Xbox 360 was bigger than the theoretical difference between PS4 and Xbox One.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...
