I think this is Nintendo's way of budget control -- the bump to 720p is the "upgrade", then the teams get to bump the poly count and background effects a bit, but not a full on engine/asset reworking.

Smash and DKC look like Wii engines bumped to 720p with some added polys. Mario 3D World doesn't look much better than Mario Galaxy 1/2 running in HD on the Dolphin either.

it's not a nintendo topic without your hater negativity around. what took you so long?

He is a pessimist, but not a hater. People tend to confuse these two groups.

lol, wth? The textures in most of those comparisons are in the Wii's favor. Why? The Wii U is clearer and less jaggies, pretty much smoother all around but the textures are...last gen..!...!!!! Just look at the Mario comparisons. His overalls have more detail on Wii than Wii U as if the Wii U version was just coloured in with no layering textures. Definition of lazy or maybe Nintendo had too much on their hands with both the 3DS/Wii U combo or maybe they didn't want to far outdo the 3DS version too much. But anyways, will be a great game regardless. Definitely this and MK8 are the main reasons why I will be purchasing the Wii U.

You better blame Namco. They are the one doing the actual coding. Sakurai is directing.

Yeah but I don't really care regardless, it'll still look better presented and be a great game. That's what counts.

The 3DS version I think is going to hold the Wii U version back, both because of resources (they have to make 2 games) and because 3DS limitations will hold back content in the Wii U version.... that being said, the game looks better then Brawl in motion and I'm sure it will look even better come release time.

The new Smash looks alright graphics-wise.

I will play this game for years and years and centuries and millenniums and... you get the point. I am just so excited for this game. This and Mario Kart 8: the ultimate system selling team.

Does anyone know if Link's hair, or anyone else for that matter, is dynamic or static?

Your prrobably right. Crazy thing is hes probably one of the youngest characters. Don't let them stress you foxx.

Ehh. It doesn't look much better. Then again, I don't care. I'll play it because it's probably my favorite local multiplayer game series of all time.

My thoughts exactly. I think that the 3DS version should've been scrapped from the beginning. It is just like like you said holding the Wii U version back. And Sakurai said that they will both have the same characters. This troubles me because the 3DS can't hold as much data as the Wii U can. Unless, they are using a bigger card for the game. Most 3DS games are 2GB right now maybe it will be one of the first games to utilize 8GB. Who knows?

Also, you'll eventually stop playing it. There will be another new Smash Bros. game afterall.
