Forums - Sony Discussion - PS4 PlayStation Plus Details: Cross Game Chat doesn’t require the service

Tagged games:

We have some new details on PS Plus for the PS4. It will be required to play online but not for free-to-play games or MMOs. One subscription will grant access to all accounts on that system.

Cross game chat and other media functions won’t require the subscription. This includes services like Netflix.

Games will be added and removed just like the current subscription on PS3 and you will be getting one new PS4 game every month. It’s not clear whether it would be a PS Plus edition like DriveClub which has altered content.

The subscription isn’t required for automatic updates. It will cost $50 or $5 per month. It’s something you pay for PS Plus already on PS3 so it really isn’t a surprise.

The PS4 will be released sometime later this year and according to some retailer listings in Europe, it could be out on November 13.

Check out the video below by PS Access which goes in-depth into the subscription for PS4.

My summary...

+ No required for MMO
+ No required for F2P
+ No required for Netflix and video apps
+ No required to all media related functions
+ No required for Cross Game Video Chat
+ No required for Automatic Updates
+ One account in PS4 with Plus unlock online MP for all
+ Free games every month for PS4, PS3 and Vita
+ Exclusive access to Beta, Demos and Trials
+ Exclusive deals and discounts
+ Online feature into SP modes (Leaderboads, Comunity content, etc).

- Required only for Online MP games (that didn't have other type of subsctiption or it's not free).

Plus what? Plus everything.

hmm, I'll still get the plus since I play mp.

I have a question. If there are two users in my house and two PS4s, does one subscription to PS+ work on both machines?

Too complex this question lol... I have no ideia... they said you have a Plus account in PS4 then all the others accounts can play online.

yes, you have to have the account that has activated PS+ on both PS3s, but you don't need to use that account to access the games (only to download them)

every item you get from PSN can be activated on 2 different PS3s at a time, but to get it onto another different PS3 one of those 2 PS3 need to deactivate the PSN account it was acquired from

Sorry I meant If we have two PS4s.   and two users.   like on ein the family room and another in the living room, could two different users have access to multiplayer?

Thanks,

That is what I figured ...  I assume it will apply similarly to the PS4.

Only one user needs to have Plus I think... and that user have to be in both consoles.

That's my guess.

hm.. no idea, they might reduce that to just 1 active PS4 for PSN content, but yea it is more likely Sony will handle that the same way as they did with PS3

Loving PS+ now. Can't wait to get off this XBL crap.
