No 3DS (except DQ and maybe BD2)  or Vita support (except FFHD)  :(

Huh?  Do you have any idea how successful Square Enix has been with their 3DS games?

Look at the sales from Terry's Wonderland and DQ VII.   Those 3DS titles in particular are extremely profitable.  Shifted millions of units.

yeah, I noticed those DQ games :P

Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here?

Well I don't think they will do any better at making mobile games than making AAA titles. This decision could make them become bankrupt just like THQ.

If they can bring truly quality gaming experiences to mobile, I say more power to them. The day tablet gaming becomes viable is the day I'll be willing to invest in a good one. If their goal is simply to release more garbage like All the Bravest, though.....

They really killed themselves, looking at versus 13 and FF14.
Versus 13 was shown in 2006 and it still doesn't have a release date. 7 years development cycle?
FF14 one of the worst mmorpg of the decade.

They have a huge fanbase but they killed it.
Keep in mind they are still losing money after milking us with all the remakes. Which cost probably nothing to remake as the everything is just a resolution bump.
They are failing at their AAA titles, which release one every 2.5 years will do to you.

Keep in mind we have only like 2 final fantasy this console gen for 7 years. 3 in 8ish years. 1 FF mmorpgs and thats it.
There are a lot of psp and ds games but most is remakes which I don't believe take a lot of time to do, as the story and script is all there. And that's is what they've been doing for the whole gen.

No KH for the whole generation, No Chronos, No Xeno.

The fall of SE is so saddening each and every year.

The fall in the reading comprehension in this community is worse, SE Japan discussed all over, when they have nothing to do with the subject matter.

I don't think any key Square employee went back to Nintendo after FFVII. As a matter of fact they hardly had any relation with them for two entire generations.

You're forgetting the folks at AlphaDream. Before forming that company, most of them were Squaresoft employees, drawn primarily from the Mario RPG team. I believe Brownie Brown folks were also drawn primarily from Squaresoft (Secret of Mana), although I'm less sure about that.

Square doesn't listen to its fans, it's a horrible company.

maybe because their fans like just one single game and hate everything else?

there is the FFT crowd, the FFVII crown , the FFVI crowd, ....etc , and they're all whiny and are never satisfied, Dissidia was a game made for fans, all the remakes and re-releases are made for fans.

No, they were because SE is out of ideas.  Those are all hallmarks of a company that is creatively dying.

The AAA market is dying.
We crave these $60 high budget titles but not enough people are buying them.
Development costs are only going to get higher now we have new consoles.
