all these people saying the gameplay isnt good i would like just one of them explaining why. the only problems i had where with the AI and one of them was a design choices after all (AI not reacting to ellie) and for those saying this feels like uncharted LOOOL yeah, right!

That's a good point, I only hear that the gameplay is lacking, or is bad, but I have never seen a legit reason put to it, except as you said AI (mostly companions'), enemies sometimes don't react quick enough, maybe their radius will be bigger on survival difficulty, if you count that as gameplay.

the gameplay was out of this world, it had so many options and every one was extremely polished, shooting enemies WAS not easy, and enemies react to you quite brilliantly. some of these details really helped as well. if i was in a gun shoting and me and an enemy were under cover, if one of my pistols were empty while the other had bullets i would wait until he is under cover, aim and shoot with the empty one, he would hear the sound of it shooting blanks and get out of cover, once he gets away a bit from cover i would either aim with my shotgun or another gun and blast the shit out of him. these details are awesome, also during fights AI really DO help, ellie saved me a lot actually. the melee was just fantastic, the way they reacted to every hit and how the animations are extremely well done, every hit had a perfect reaction, this level of detail in melee combat is unbelievable and unseen before. the way that the envirmont is used during melee is also amazing, basically you could slam anyone to a wall or anything you are next to while combat. for people who say mario or halo has great gameplay and this doesnt, please explain why. this game is just on another league IMO

I feel like the problems with the enemy AI is only on easy difficulty. Companion AI on the other hand is lacking sometimes, but only in the sense that, in rare instances, it ruins immersion; as in, I'll be trying to sneak around a group of clickers and a AI companion just runs in front of them, loud as hell, telling me to keep quiet. For whatever reason, the clickers don't respond to them- which isn't horrible because it makes it so the AI never breaks the game or make it any more difficult on you.

@Bold. Unfortunately that is sometimes the case. A guy here gave a good description of it. They act like headless chicken.

As for the enemies AI, it's in most cases nothing short of amazing, how varied are responses of human enemies, depending of what you do is absolutely stuning, my only problem is (and I play on hard) that sometimes I sneak behind a Runner for example, start strangling it, and another Runner is like 5 meters away from us, its back facing us, and it doesn't react at all. They are almost deaf when it comes  to the sounds of fighting, they rather need to see you. Also Clickers which use echo-location should notice your movements from greater distances than it is presented on hard dificulty if you ask me.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

Best companion AI in any game I have played.  If you want true survival where you aren't a super soldier and ammo is scarce... Look no further...

I said this in another thread, but the details in the gameplay are what impressed me the most about The Last of Us. For example, sometimes when Joel gets shot, his body reels back, often pushing him back from cover, which isn't really used in a lot of other shooters (at most the HUD just flashes red), giving the combat a bit more realism. When you use a med kit, you'll see the bandage on your arm as well (which I thought was a nice touch). When you shoot at enemies, the enemies will often slump according to where you hit them. Or when you pop out of cover during combat, in many other games you can easily take a shot and hide again, but in TLOU, enemies will actually try to shoot you immediately once you pop out of cover.

Ellie often helps you out as well, whether it's throwing an object at an enemy or stabbing an enemy from behind (similar to what she did in the reveal trailer). There are just so many details that I've probably forgotten that went into the gameplay that made it go beyond what was already a good combination of stealth, gunplay, and survival elements (i.e., limited ammo and supplies).  Maybe it has to do with difficulty, because I first played the game on hard (and later on survivor), so I did have far fewer supplies to work with, as well as more difficulty in sneaking (resulting in more improvisation during encounters).

Finally picked up the game, Everywhere was sold out until yesterday. Amazing & I love the Multiplayer its great!

Yep. The more I play the more I'm impressed. I thought for sure that Bioshock Infinite would be my GOTY, but it might just be The last of Us depending on how it ends. I still have a few hours left to the story.

Indeed! :D So fucking happy everyone's praising it madly

The only thing that holds it back is the multiplayer which pretty much sucks but is just an extra thing.

I just want to say that "The Last Of Us" deserves every 10/10 it is getting.

One reviewer said This is the Citizen Kane moment of Gaming," and I couldn't sum it up better than that.  "Citizen Kane was the first movie to do story telling and character development so well that it was no longer a gimic to back up "The wonder of Movies!"

The same goes for TLOU.  It simply is story telling at a level NEVER seen before in gaming, with such unique survival gameplay that anyone who doesn't play this is seriously missing out on not only one of the best games ever made, but the best Survival-Horror story I have ever experienced (Yes it's story and characters beat all movies about similar subjects).

Bioshock Infinite deserves a 9/10, TLOU deserves a 10/10.  I will beat it tonight, and I can't wait!

NOTE: That is not to say I didn't find the gameplay equally as amazing, but seriously the directing stands out above all other games.

We get it, this is like the 15th thread today that is basically just a last of us circlejerk. It's a good game, but the hyperbole surrounding it is just stunning.

Also "unique survival gameplay" lol.

When almost half of the proffessional reviewers gave this game a 10/10 can you really call the love for this game hyperbole? It's not like just random casual gamers that like this game- it's that good.

I've played it. I just don't think it's THAT amazing. It's a great game, and the story is fantastic, but it's not a 10 by any means. Reviewers fall prey to hyperbole just as much as anyone.
