Forums - Sony Discussion - The Last Of Us really does deserve the praise...

I just want to say that "The Last Of Us" deserves every 10/10 it is getting.

One reviewer said This is the Citizen Kane moment of Gaming," and I couldn't sum it up better than that.  "Citizen Kane was the first movie to do story telling and character development so well that it was no longer a gimic to back up "The wonder of Movies!"

The same goes for TLOU.  It simply is story telling at a level NEVER seen before in gaming, with such unique survival gameplay that anyone who doesn't play this is seriously missing out on not only one of the best games ever made, but the best Survival-Horror story I have ever experienced (Yes it's story and characters beat all movies about similar subjects).

Bioshock Infinite deserves a 9/10, TLOU deserves a 10/10.  I will beat it tonight, and I can't wait!

NOTE: That is not to say I didn't find the gameplay equally as amazing, but seriously the directing stands out above all other games.

Best looking game on any released console so far.  However PC BF3 on its lowest settings in 1080p looks better and can be run by a $400-$500 PC effectively.  It is time for a new generation.  Though the in-engine cutscenes look amazing and I could easily see Naughty Dogs first game on PS4 looking that good (Though better since they would be in 1080p)...

You do know Wii U was released last year right?

We get it, this is like the 15th thread today that is basically just a last of us circlejerk. It's a good game, but the hyperbole surrounding it is just stunning.

Also "unique survival gameplay" lol.

Honestly, I love the story, cut scenes, and presentation. But the gameplay... was not as impressive.

I would give it an 8. But a 10 is too generous.

In spite of my feelings on the gameplay, I still think it deserves Game of the Year.

What? I'm a huge Nintendo fan and love my Wii U, but no Wii U game so far was graphically impressive. The Last of Us shows the PS3's age, but it certainly looks very good.

As for the game, yes, it's definitely amazing. It has its flaws, especially on the gameplay side, but the story, characters and presentation were fantastic. I'd give it a 9 because although I have some issues with the gameplay, it improved so much over Uncharted's boring cinematic adventure that it deserves extra points (and loses a few because it occasionally feels like Uncharted and the combat still needs to improve a little bit more). Not my favorite game on the PS3 but probably the best one I've played (I'm about 60% through).

50 threads praising it aren't doing this game justice. We need to build a temple for it.

Yes.

So you think a game on a hardware designed in 2004 looks better than anything on the console released in 2012?
