Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Is the Wii U this Generations Dreamcast?

Let me just say that I loved the DreamcastTh. The system was awesome with its great controller, the amazing VMU, and the excellent games. The Dreamcast was a very innovative system, with its controls, memory card, and internet connection. The Wii U seems to be trying similar things although the level of innovation is not quite what we had hoped for.

Unfortunately, it also looks like a system caught between generations. It is more powerful than the Wii, 360 and PS3 but not even close to the Xbox One or PS4. However, just like the Wii it has great games. Unfortunately, most of these games have to come from Nintendo since 3rd party support on the system has been very lackluster. This is fairly similar to what happened to the Dreamcast.

Shenume

Jet Set Radio

Soul Calibur

Skies of Arcadia

Those are some of the amazing games that adopters of the Dreamcast got at it was wonderful.

Super Mario Galaxy

Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword

Xenoblade Chronicles

Madworld

and more can be found on Wii U

If you are looking for a second system buy the Wii U and do not let it go the way of the Dreamcast.

Wii U won't go the same way cause Nintendo has a lot more financial ressources then SEGA, will it sell as much as the Wii? No, nobody ever thought that, but it will be more then the N64.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

I don't get that part. Sure you can play them on WiiU, but these are Wii games.

Nintendo is in a much better position than SEGA, so I would think they have the wherewithal to 'bail' the system out. I have a feeling they'll get aggressive with partnerships in the event things get really bad. Let's see how things go after the new HD twins release ... like a year.

Nintendo's position now can't be compared with SEGA's then.

Why did you list Wii games? Sure they can be played on Wii U but perhaps you should list Wii U games that are out now or coming out in the near future.

1) You listed Wii games. While there are a few games on the Wii U that stand out, it still needs something to help make it start to sell like the 3DS did when it was in its drought.

2) Nintendo is in a much better position than Sega was back then.

Still waiting for the  truely must own Wii U games, you know they are coming but outside Super Mario Bros Wii U and Zombie U the Wii U just has mostly 3rd party ports right now.

Games like X give me hope for the Wii U but until they come out we still got some of the Wii's amazing games to hold us over.
