Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox 1 family plan was just a demo mode

I'd bet it would change by the time they announced these final details. To be not 10 shares but say 3 shares with specific devices with peeps you've been friends with for like 6 mos or something.

There's no way they could of came out post E3 and say "oh that sharing plan, yeah its limited to one hour per game."

That's a damn demo that PS4 is including automatically even if no one you know owns the game.

I believe our own ben sorta confirmed this too...

Did he? I assumed he was still being coy.

So... I'm guessing that when Gamestop found out that the discs they're selling were going to be used to advertise to your friends to buy digital copies from Live, they lowered the boom on Microsoft's ass?

In his coy way I think this was the big thing that was going to cause uproars later.

LMFAO!! so the future of gaming is sharing demos?

Oh. Well, crazy buttocks confirmed that this demo mode garbage was the real plan. I just want to know what exactly Gamestop did. But Ben isn't talking, damn his eyes!

@Turkish
Please stop your trolling. You know perfectly well that "Xbox 1" is a console that was released back in 2001. The publicly accepted name of Microsoft's upcoming system is "Xbone".

"Well certainly with the Xbox 360, we had some challenges at the launch. Once we identified that we took control of it. We wanted to do it right by our customers. Our customers are very important to us." -Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb (10/2013). Note: RRoD was fixed with the Jasper-revision 3 years after the launch of 360

"People don't pay attention to a lot of the details."-Yusuf Mehdi explaining why Xbone DRM scheme would succeed

"Fortunately we have a product for people who aren't able to get some form of connectivity; it's called Xbox 360,”-Don Mattrick

"The region locking of the 3DS wasn't done for profits on games"-MDMAlliance

My god. The more I think about this the more hilarious it becomes. I am literally in tears.

I take back what I said before about considering an Xbone to play D4 somewhere down the line. I will never, eeeeeeeever buy another Microsoft console. These people are insane beyond belief, and I want nothing to do with them.

Damn internet ruined demo's for true XBox fans. :(

I really think Gamestop's only role was to show MS that their preorders were massively less than PS4. Giving proof that they could not continue as planned and be a viable platform.

Gamestop actually had more to gain by the restrictions on disc resells/trades as it forced users to them instead of Craigslist and eBay.

It's crazy people believed Ms was going to allow you to buy one game and share it to 10 people free of charge.

I thought so, too, but...

Then there was the part about them not taking any more preorders. So I think demand might have been anemic enough that Gamestop felt emboldened to tell Microsoft to go fuck itself with this anti-used games shit. It would have been a short term boon for them, but perhaps they were not stupid enough to not realize that ultimately MS wants to get rid of them as well.
