Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox One will now sell as many units as PS4, says Pachter

Lol isn't this guy like a fruit loop or something?

Pachter is a grade-A moron.

Back on topic: I just don't see this happening. $100 is a lot of money, plus the Xbox brand took a severe beating.

Well PS4 was going to sell more anyway once those prices were revealed. Also Playstation had a horrendous start at the beginning of this gen by being $200 and a year late. Both of those advantages are gone for Xbox and the price has actually become a disadvantage which I didn't see coming. PS4 is also more powerful and PS+ is obviously a better value than Live. Also many were not fond of MS's late gen support so they had some bad relations going already. I think MS will now sell more in the US for this gen maybe but other than that I don't see how you do better without having an advantage in the 2 most important areas (games and price). Also 20 exclusives in the first year to 15 is another PS advantage.

Some great points in here, especially the weak end-of-cycle support for the 360 compared to the PS3. I'm not sure why manufacturers aren't aware of some of these basics at times.

If sales are bad then they will drop the price but if sales are average-good then they won't drop the price even if they are losing to the PS4, because they don't want to take a loss on the console. However, I believe they will drop to price to $399 in November 2014. Also, they will certainly drop the UK price because they will lose badly to the PS4 there.

PS4 will most likely sell a little better worldwide but Xbox One will sell much better in the USA which is the only thing that matters to me. I'm not playing games against people who live across the ocean.

I don't know about it being so lopsided. I'm feeling that it will be a more even fight for the US this time around, I still think the Xbox has a chance to take the lead but its gonna be a 45-55 split at best... The PS4 simply doesn't have any of the negativety behind it like the PS3 did (price wise),  the third party support appears pretty strong and there is no 1 year lead this time.

i think being limited to 21 countries on release and not being able to import the system cause it doesnt work outside of the launch countries will hurt more than the 100$ difference in price. It's a big factor, 21 countries is a very short list and anyone looking to import it has been denied that.

It`s no longer region locked nor does it reuire the 24 hour online check in anymore. Therefore you can buy an Xbox One and take it with you anywhere you wish.

PS: The 21 countries at launch had to do with the system being so online centric originally and needing enough servers in place for the cloud and Live to work properly. I wouldn`t be surprised if they ship to more of Europe at launch now and that Asia will likely see it released early next Spring.

Xbox 360 wants to KinectPS3 wants to Move!  Why are both systems having such relationship problems?  The reason is they both become so infactuated with desire while watching the Wii as it waggles on by. They simply want what they can't have.

Really?? Seems to me there are plenty of great titles coming to both X360 & PS3. As for lack of exclusive midway through this generation... simple... Sony already had tons of in house developers while Microsoft around that same time was in the process of building up their in house studios.

Since 2008 Microsoft has added Press Play, Twisted Pixel, Black Tusk Studios, Soho Productions, Lift London, BigPark, Microsoft Studios Victoria & Microsoft Studios Osaka. That`s at least 8 studios built from the ground up or purchased outright since 2007.

Sony on the other hand during this same timeframe has been shutting down a good chunk of studios but also had tons more considering their one generation head start on Microsoft.

If this happens, at least they're willing to go the distance and back pedal on every condescending deluded words they said.

Makes them more badass than Sony. :)

1) i disagree with patcher

2) patcher doesn't seem to say anything that anyone vaguely interested in the gaming industry couldn't think of.
