Just kidding about topic title, I actually like the guy, and always enjoy watching his show.

Yup, just read about this. Goes to show that the amount of stick the guy gets is undeserved.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

it may be undeserved, but its still funny. so i personally will continue doing it!

Good call Pach, but it wasn't hard to predict. I'm sure a lot of PS4 fans were hoping like hell that MS wouldn't back down because then PS4 would have run away with this generation in PS2-like fashion, unless Wii U happened to somehow come out of left field. But that was shortsighted thinking. MS needed to be forced to take this policy down for the good of gaming in general.

He got one prediction right out of how many failed predictions.

Pachter got a prediction right? It is the end of days :3

If Pachter hadn't seen this coming, I'd have described him as deluded. He's not deluded - he just doesn't say anything publicly that is of any value. And neither was this prediction, because everyone knew that MS would have to do it to survive.

There are two kinds of things that Pachter says publicly. Those that are good for his clients (half his job is clearly PR), and those that attract a lot of attention. Accuracy is irrelevant in both of those categories.

Note that most of this also applies to any other "analyst" who comments publicly in their role as an analyst - it's their job to perform analyses and sell those analyses to clients - if they give the analysis away for free, it's lost sales for them.
