Forums - Gaming Discussion - So can we finally admit that the "cloud" was PR play now that Xbox doesn't require online?

Yes, this was the final evidence.

It's like a house of cards, it's all falling apart. Now everyone knows Microsoft was lying and cheating and this will haunt them for the rest of the generation.

I told you this was the beginning of the end. The Xbos brand will never recover from this.

What have they lied about? Stop being so hyperbolic. The cloud computing is for online, key is in the word. Cloud was never going to work for people that were just going to log in once every 24 hours for a minute to check their X1.

Most people agreed that it was nothing more than a pr stunt. It's only the die hards that beilved them.

what exactly is different for singleplayer or multiplayer games as it was 5 hours ago for xbox one when we talk about the cloud? i really wonder what you think changed.

Whenever a journalist asked "why DRM? Why always online?", MS would reply "we want to do exciting things with the cloud".

So it was a PR show. They used the cloud as an argument for DRM.

But now this illusion fell apart.

That was a running joke for a while. That you had to log in every 24 hours to download more power from the cloud to run the games.

You better get used to the hyperbole. This gen is gonna be much harder for an Xbox fan than the past gen.

Man ANOTHER cloud thread this is getting ridiculous....how about EVERYONE stop arguing about SPECULATION and just WAIT to see HOW the Cloud will work in games and HOW developers will implement it into games...geez both sides the pro cloud and anti cloud folk are getting more and more silly. Neither side REALLY know if it works, if it will or even if it won't so give it a rest...smh

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

PSN: StlUzumaki23

This doesn't disprove capabilities of cloud. Cloud is for people who ARE online so it will still cater to them. It's yet to be seen..what it can actually do.

it may have been a show for justifying the DRM, but that doesn't have anything to do with the possible uses for cloud processing.

All it really means is Microsoft didn't have a good reason for including the DRM policies...

No, the online authentification had nothing to do with the cloud. It was to do with blocking used games.

Having to check in one a day, is not the same as having to be connected whilst playing which is what te cloud requires. That was always up to the user even with MS's old policies.
