It hasn't automatically lost before it was even released.

But that is a long way from having won.

It's still vastly outmatched in the exclusives department compared to the Wii U, comparing what will be out for both consoles at X1 release, and in terms of 2014 releases.

It still will require a significant advertising effort to get it to the point of being neutral. People aren't great at forgiving and forgetting, MS will need to put in even more advertising than they originally planned/

It's still $100 more than the PS4, $150-$200 + paying to play online more than the Wii U.

It still has issues with requiring Kinect to be on at all times - I doubt this will be all that significant in terms of sales, but it's worth keeping in mind.

The X1 took a gigantic step today, but it is FAR from having caught up to the other consoles, much less overtaken.

With PS3 finally reaching the 360 in sales, I don't think the Xbox One is going to win, but it's not going to be a one sided race anymore like it would have with the DRM on Xbox One. I think what's mainly going to happen is most Xbox fans will go to Xbox regardless of the $100 price increase. People who want a powerful next gen console for cheaper and PS4 fans will go to the PS4. Exclusives might get people to get the other as well, although most people might just get one and use the Wii U as a secondary console.

For those people who get all three or both new HD consoles, I doubt they'll play online on both now that PS4 has a paywall as well.  Sony needs to really push the benefits of PS+.  Do like Microsoft does with a free month of gold in each game.  Include in Sony exclusives a free month of PS+ which will add to your current months.  Every first party game you buy gives you another month, plus people can see the benefits to it when they get free games each month.

Even with 95% of the problems fixed, I don't think MS will win for 2 simple reasons.

1) It gave MS a bad image as a console manufacturer, I have a lot of hardcore 360 supporters who just "gave up" on Microsoft.

2) It's still an inferior system to WiiU and PS4. $500 is too much, and with all units coming with Kinect, I can't see it being priced less then WiiU/PS4. Plus WiiU/PS4 have better exclusives, and overall, better games.

You are joking, right?

Not graphically, as a system. First of all, not only is Nintendo known for bomb-proof reliability and amazing customer support, a WiiU is also a $300 system, has the most exclusives announced for it, is backward compatible with Wii games, controllers and peripherals, and I would argue that it's share of exclusives will get the highest average score, just like they did on Wii.

The online inftrastructure is a mess and games don´t come frequent enough. I mean the Wii U costs 350€ I know the Xbone will launch at 500€ but it is multiple times more powerfull in regards of processing power, has reliable and very good online infrastructure, offers services like Netflix and HBO go, it can be used as a blu Ray player. And the Xbone will have a ton of third party support which the Wii U already lacks.

I would agree on that the Nintendo developed titles will have the most quality of the exclusives. But Nintendo titles have become so redundant in the past few years. Of course this is a subjective matter but if you are sick of the same old recycled Nintendo properties then you wont be happy with the Wii U.

Plus the Xbone comes with a great gamepad that can be used for fighting games racing games and all sorts of games. The Wii U gamepad is not a good tablet and doesn´t work particularly well as a controller for most games that don´t udolize the second screen functionality well or at all, whoch are the most games. I know Nintendo offers a pro controller which is great but those are additional 45€ to spend on.

So calling the Wii U a superior system is very generous, I would even argue about that in comparison to the 360 and PS3. But until the XBone doesn´t come we wont be able to make a fair comparison. We don´t know yet how fast the OS of the Xbone will be, how the support will be handled etc.

No, not at all. But at least they can sell well, unlike before.

$350 is only for the Deluxe, you can still buy a full console for $300, I don't think many games will have DLC, and for all we know the WiiU will get a price cut, potentially making it half the price of a One. Also I don't play online much

LOL, it's funny that you mention WiiU's library becoming redundant, it's been what 9 years since we saw a Pikmin game? I own a 360, and I'm sick of how there's a new Forza and Halo every 2 years. I'm nowhere nearly done Forza Motorsport 4, and I'd rather continue playing the game for a year or two, and download a handful of new cars which I like, then get a whole new game.

I agree with you about the gamepad, but like I said Wii U can use Wii-mote controllers, and after playing Skyward Sword and Metroid Prime, I think a well integrated Wii-mote control interface is the best. Either way, I won't be complaining about Wii U's controls with wii-motes, but the One gamepad is nice.

Wii is suppose to be about 2x as powerful as the PS3/360, and about 1/4th as powerful as a PS4 (closer to 1/3rd as powerful as a One). Technically it's closer to PS360 then PS4-One, but IMO just playing games in native 1080p, 60 FPS makes a huge difference.

So, you can see why I (and many others) feel the Wii U is a superrior system to the One. Microsoft can redeem itself, there are a lot of PS4/One MP titles announced already, I would imagine that as a primary system, a One will eventually be a great choice. I just feel MS has burnt themselves pretty badly recently, and I would go as far as recommending a WiiU over a One. I think WiiU will get substantially more 3rd party support then the Wii before it, and it will also be a great system to own as a primary system.

Unfortunatly, most of the online only features for the Xbox One are US only, like Netflix and HBO GO, the rest of the planet essentially misses out.

I think they've secured the U.S. market once again, but they were never going to win any other region. If the 360 couldn't do it, the Xbox One certainly won't.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

By all means let's all declare a "winner" five months before either console goes on sale....

Nope. I remembered when PS3 haters were complaining about the PS3's price because of the "unnecessary" Blu-Ray drive. Now we have the mandatory Kinect in the Xbox One which is less useful than Blu-Ray which is one of the reasons why the Xbox One is $100 more expensive than the PS4. Go Figure.

Except this is a $100 difference this time around, and not $200. It's not that big of a difference at all. Also I gurantee this thing is going to be sold out for a few months/hard to find.

It's just that simple.
