Forums - Gaming Discussion - Ellie is not important in Gamereactor Sweden's The Last of Us magazine cover.

"Yes I removed Ellie.

Neil Druckman, creative director at Naughty Dog behind TLOU didnt really like our latest cover despite it being of the studios recent masterpiece. The reason is because I removed Ellie. After a Twitter message from ND, a debate regarding sexism has been sparked, something I'd like to shut down right now. The reason I removed Ellie was purely due to aesthetic reasons. Anything else is just phony.

We removed Ellie because she looked like a .."after"creation from the illustrators side. She was the only thing in the picture that was on a seperate layer and she looked pasted in and a bit like she was cut out and pasted with a less highly detailed face than Joels. We felt that the cover was better this way. Better looking and we found a perfect spot for our headline as well. If ND really didnt want to see their cover without Ellie then the one who sent it shouldnt have sent an image where the possibility to remove her was there as a seperate layer.

In the end its rather funny but also pretty stupid. We once printed an Uncharted cover without Sully and nothing happend there. Same with Jak & Daxter without Daxter. One with Ratchet & Clank without Ratchet and one for Half Life 2 without Alyx. We have also done the same for a Super Mario Bros cover with only one of the brothers and another from Army of Two with only Rios. Its about design, and thats all there is to it."

He's got a point in my opinion. He simply preferred it that way.

I agree with the guy, the cover looks better than the original picture.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

My favorite:

There should so be a game called that.

But...eh...neither of them look great, but still, Ellie is a main character!

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

That is a reasonable explanation. It's kind of like if they had drawn dicks all over the picture Naughty Dog sent them, and then said, "Well, if you didn't want us to draw dicks on it then you shouldn't have sent an image with the possibility of us drawing dicks on it." It's your fault, Naughty!

Well, it's a little girl holding a gun over a dead body............

You obviously are cluess as hell and haven't played the game. Don't come here talking smack when you know nothing. Ellie is 50% of the game. That she was cut from the cover is pathetic.

How can she be 50% of the game when she has killed exactly 0% of the enemies in my game? That little slacker. The most she has managed to do is throw a brick at someone. But at least she doesn't randomly start shooting and alerting all the clickers like stupid fucking Bill.

By saying that, it's apparent that you haven't played the game at all.

Maybe the guy is resting a bit while the other two characters are acting as watchmen.

They just made bestiality illegal, posting a jailbait on their cover for all those animal sex deprived nerds would be a very bad move that could destroy the country

Clearly. Anyone could make up that shit. I mean, a generic name like "Bill"? Really? Who am I fooling? I don't even own a PS3. Just an Atari 2600 that isn't even plugged into a TV. I'm going to go sit in the corner for a while and think about what I've done.
