I updated my ps3 slim, played Remember me for 2 hours and now it's downloading and installing SR3 from ps+.
It's a normal slim with stock 320gb hdd.

What was the update for anyway. The only thing it said was you can now disable trophy messages, must be more then that behind the scenes.

Does the PS3 share the HDD space with games or does it have a separate storage device for OS and updates? Could you just take the HDD out, update then put it back in?

Must of been something in the fine print 'For some of you this update will fuck up your PS3, just be happy we are not doing human tests Apple'. I hope someone gets that... But I did my update and didn't restart my PS3 at the time and now I don't want to restart it...

I have no issues after the update.

Only thing i couldn't use my controller, and then i released i forgot to re-charge it.

This is most likely corrupted data in the download that has bricked a few. Best bet is to download on a PC then update off a USB stick to avoid these issues. Still not guaranteed problem free like any firmware update but it minimizes these issues and will probably be quicker.
