Sony still supports PS3, and it will end in 2015-2016.

what about my beautiful collection on my shelf?? HOW WILL I COLLECT?
Games can and should tell stories and share ideas through their mechanics. This is the intrinsic element of the medium and this is how experiences should be crafted in video games. No company does this as well as Nintendo and their echoes from the past.

the first one t go digitally only will lose the gen, the potential userbase will be a lot lower then if they stay with disc and dlc, also if the Internet services doesn't get faster and cheaper with no download cap in NA I don't think anyone will even try going digital only.
I have a Steam account with about 150 games, but the only reason I have 99% of those, is because they were literally less than a dollar. That's what it takes for me to accept that I don't actually own the games I buy ... dirt cheap prices, I mean really dirt cheap. When they try to sell me the rights to play a game for even 30$, I'm long gone.
So if they want to try and sell me rights to play, instead of actual games, and they think they can charge me 60$, I will simply not be buying their games or consoles, just like I would have never bought an XBO, had their not changed their policies.
Next gen really won't happen for Microsoft the way people expect. They will release new consoles and hardware but the Xbox One ecosystem is going to be cemented and following you digitally moving forward.(digital purchases)
Same app you bought on iPhone 1 works on iPhone 5 99% of the time...Xbox One is the digital ground 0 for Microsoft consoles despite the DRM reversal.
That is unless you buy retail games. Those games have a shelf life on 1 gen. Maybe Microsoft in 10 years will have a program in place along the lines of..."mail us an xbox One disk, we email you the game code for download". Wouldn't that be nice of them.

No fucking shit. My point was that the supporting of one console has no impact on the launch of another.
