It's not a stupid argument its a very valid one, because in fact, alot of people have to pick their console based on the price, if everyone had $400 to spend I'm pretty sure a few would choose a 360 over a Wii. And you also have to look through a parents eyes, when they look at the consoles the price is a MAJOR factor, face it, what parent wants to spend $400 on something for their kid when they can spend $250?

Ask yourself, if the Wii was $399, and the PS3 $249, which do you think people would choose?

Again, price is a MAJOR factor, especially now in America. So you can try to deny it and look dumb, or you can accept it, because it is true. Ask any analyst, they will list the price at, or near the top of the list for reasons people choose Wii. Just accept it.

If the PS3 was the one at $249, do you think it will have Blu-Ray, da power of da Cell, HDD, wi-fi, ethernet port, and the other stuff???

 And if the Wii was the one at $399, do you think it will be like the $249 Wi???

That "if" only exist in your imagination, Sony choose that price and was wrong, there wasn't a PS3 at $249 (with all that stuff) in 2006... maybe in 2009-2010, but again, that was Sony's choice...

 My guess is its the PS3 and 360 fans that are pissed that nintendo is outselling them both quite well.  They invested a lot of money into the system, and therefore feel that it should be superior.

Just ignore these people, and remember, you are making yourself mad, not the other people. 

Well, tbh there was a case of both the Wii having a low start price and the PS3 having a very high start price, and it does matter to a certain extent.
That having been said, when you survey all the gadgetry and the specs of the PS3; its certainly no less value for money than the Wii is/was.
But this matters little to people, like when they're buying cars, they'll almost always go for the cheapest possible alternative regardless of the cars condition because it looks and sounds like a sweet deal in comparison.
One guy bid for my car and offered me 75.000NOK and I had to say no, so he ended up buying a non-turbo version of mine without leather for 65.000NOK, and the other car had over 100.000 KM's more on the speedo than mine.
WHy? He thought it was the better deal, doing as most casuals and going heavily for a low price.

I'm not making any excuses for the Wii's success, and I've stated before that I feel that the main reason that the Wii has become a hit is because its different.
Not a revolution in my eyes, but still different.
But remember; saying that the price is no factor at all is every bit as fanboyish and childish as saying its the determining factor, or maybe even worse.
Think about that, there's an awful lot of users turning unneccesarily derogatory about this at times.

price is a huge factor for the wii especially since its largest audiences are kids 13 and under and casuals who cant put out 600 for a system and 60 a game. while most systems sell the most copies at 199 i think price drops wont have a huge affect on the wii. especially considering that 360 and ps3 had 400 and 600 dollar price points for there original best models. It isn't the main reason the system is selling but it was smart of nintendo to price it at 250

The Gamecube was at 199 when the PS2 was at 299. That is only a 100 dollar differance and the PS2 had already gained a lot of momentum and had FFX, MGS2, GTA3, and GT3 all launch near the launch on the Xbox and Gamecube. Had Sony not had pinpoint timing with everything, last gen would have been very differant.

Fastforward to now and we had the 360 out for a year, the PS3 and Wii launch to a weak line-up of GeoW on the 360. The PS3 is 600 the 360 is 400 and the Wii is 250. That is a 150 and a 350 dollar price differance between its competitors. With that kind of gap it is nearly inpposable to over come for the PS3 or the 360 no matter what they could do. So the first point of the Wii price complaint is that they have undercut the competitors to a price whichj is acceptable to the casual, which is a bigger adavantage than anything the PS3 or 360 can offer.

The second complaint about the Wii's price is how badly Nintendo is reaming the consumers. Yeah we all know that these companies are in this buisness to make money, but this is rediculous. Nintendo think that they are a gas company and price goudging is cool. I find it disgusting that a "casual freindly" company like Nintendo can go after a casual base and perposly kick them in the balls on the price just because they are not tech savy consumers.

I don't know what it is about the Wii that makes it so in demand. It could be an assortment of things. I have no room to speculate, since I don't own one. Even though I don't buy Nintendo, I certainly respect that they were obviously only a sleeping monster.

$99, Companies are only good Companies if they loose money with every product they sell...

I keep asking myself, we buy games, consoles, cars, tvs, mp3s, etc... every company out there is being unfair with us for selling us a product and making money from it???
