Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo 3DS was the best-selling console in May

http://www.destructoid.com/nintendo-3ds-was-the-best-selling-console-in-may-256500.phtml

The Nintendo 3DS was the best-selling piece of gaming hardware in the United States during May, according to the NPD's monthly report. Nintendo attributes the achievement to the platform's strong software sales, which have increased more than sixty percent since this time last year.

Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D was a part of that winning equation, charting at number three across all platforms despite launching late in the month. And Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon wasn't too far behind, coming in at number five overall. Nintendo will look to keep the good times rolling with the strong summer lineup of Animal Crossing: New LeafPikmin 3, and Mario & Luigi: Dream Team.

Good to hear, looks like 3DS is starting to gain some steam here in the States and that should def pick up more with Animal Crossing, Pokemon and Zelda all coming later this year.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Not a surprise.

Also, I hope they know that Pikmin 3 isn't a 3DS game. Since it seems this article is talking exclusively about the 3DS, I don't see how a Wii U game got mixed up in there...

So is this the 1st time the 3DS has been the best selling hardware for the US?

Edit: In a month, of course.

Good for the best handheld in the market

3DS is king of consoles not only portable consoles but king of everything, awesome news :)

34 years playing games.

bla bla portable market is dead bla bla all hail the mighty phones and tablets bla bla nintendoomed bla bla!

I wonder where all those great analysts are hiding now.

Good to see the 3ds gaining some momentum in the us (not that it was doing badly of course) but I guess that's what happens when you actually release a few decent games close together ;)

It's virtually flat year on year, which is why Nintendo was afraid to release numbers, there isn't much "momenteum" to speak of.

The numbers aren't that great, its just the rest of the industry is cratering too.

Honestly 114k for May isn't great it's just better than the others.

nintendo needs good news
