Forums - Gaming Discussion - What to do about Xbox One

If you are tired of "negative" threads against Microsoft, stop reading this right now, ignore this right now. Go somewhere else. Please.

You are an XBone defender and take personal everything said about Microsoft, do yourself a favor and DO NOT read this.

This is my opinion, and I am only human so I could be wrong. So if you are a little rebel and you are still reading, be ready because you may dislike what I am about to say. You have been warned.

I think the right thing to do is to Boycott Microsoft and its Xbox One and promote its direct competitors: Sony and Nintendo. The business model they are setting up is harmful to gamers.

Also, I have been, as objectively as posible, trying to find something good in the XboxOne but no, I got nothing.

The bad things...

-End of used games

-End of Internet conexion as an option

-End optional motion controls and privacy (Somebody explain why Xbox 360 hardcore fanboys would now defend Kinect and having it connected always listening and perhaps always watching)

I have tried to get over this unsuccesfully (I own a 360 and love it), but the only thing I can do is buy me a Ps4 and a WiiU as soon as I can.

But maybe that is not enough.

I have read and heard people going cynical about this saying that there´s nothing we can do about it, Zombiegamers are going to buy the system massively anyway so we might as well get used to the end of an era and the beginning of the digital age, where you no loger buy anything. They say that you are buying, but in reality is just an overpriced rental they call a purchase.

So if you still chose to read this... Would you please not take it personal? I am not trying to begin a fanboy war (I own all of the systems). I am not trying to attack gamers, only the business  people of Microsoft who consider gamers slaves of their hobbie. I would like to think differently...

I want Microsoft to fail and I want us to stay in the model where you keep physical copies of the content you buy.

What can be done?

By this line of logic, people should have stopped supporting the Ps3 after the horrible start it had back in 2006. I mean, overpriced, no games, difficult tech to develop games on, no plans for online interactivity. It was a step backward for gamers. But hey, no.

You could just wait until the Xbox One is out in the market. Reserve your judgment and your "boycott" plans for then.

I am ok with high price, I did not complained about lack of games, never said anything about being difficult to develop to (DID YOU READ?)

I am talking about this Kinect-always-on-going-on-line-every-24-hours-big-brother-Bull-Shit (Excuse my french)

Iam talking about paying full price for something you really don't own.

I am talking mandatory things as kinect, as internet. You have no choice.

I am talkind about the end of property and maybe privacy (who knows) as we know it

Did Sony do any of this with the PS3 back in 2006? NO! It was too expensive, that was all.

Being overpriced is the only thing I don't consider a problem. The PS3 eventually lower the price so people could afford it and Sony didn't go bankrupt.

^ I reaffirm what I'm saying. Wait until the console is released to the public. Whereas webpages and companies can investigate Xbox One specs, and the overall public would decide if they want to support it or not. Where Microsoft would be forced to change things if it doesn't sell or keep up if it sell millions.

You didn't complain about lack of games or difficult tech, but back in 2006 this was HUGE PROBLEMS.

yeah I dunno, I mean they haven't offered anything new to me worth a purchase of the console, and I think a majority of informed consumers just plain don't like what they are doing with the DRM and other issues. So I don't know why I could boycott a product I wasn't going to buy anyways...

Have you heard about family sharing? Kinect can be turned off in the options? And what about the change of policies from here until launch?
I like the One´s vision but if people dont like it they should not buy it or even pay attention, and for the love of god stop complaining.

I think we should just let people buy what they want to buy. If there are people who are fine with the XO's restrictions, and there will be a lot of people who are, then that's fine with me. Those restrictions aren't the worst things in the world by any stretch. There are plenty of people who have stable internet connections, who live in supported countries, who are going to trade their games in at GameStop when they're done with them anyway, and they won't have a problem at all with the way the XO handles things.

I'm definitely leaning toward the PS4, make no mistake, but I don't really have a problem with the idea that others might like the Xbox One more. It's got a lot of positives going for it, even if there are some negatives.

If the XO fails then I hope it fails because people genuinely don't want to buy it, rather than as part of a concerted effort to coerce people away from it. That, to me, is how the market should work. Of course, I also think "anti-consumer" is kind of a meaningless term in a capitalist world and that there are people who are acting far too entitled over the products of a for-profit industry.

(Still learning how to quote)I do not work for MS,but i do share a common vision with them where games and entertainment take center stage everywhere anywhere...well not in nuclear subs ...

Microsoft will not change there stance on 24 hrs or drm and 499. There in it for the long hall and like me when I bought a ps3 for me and my bro for full price, I did not care. I'm sure the xbox die hards feel the same way. I'm just not sure how they can deal with the expense of that system for its lifetime. Not to mention that its the only system ever made that once Microsoft decides to end the servers for xbox one it is essentially a paper weight. I mean 15 years down the road when we are on to the next systems. Ps4 will still be working for singleplayer games 20 years from now. Xbox one who knows ? It's a mighty big gamble I mean ps1 and ps2 I still play the games along with a lot of people. Ps3 and ps4 will also be the same as far as playing the games you collect. A real gamer would not see value in xbox one, because essentially your only renting a game and when its gone, its gone forever. You cannot load a disc and play a game( a basic fundamental to any console). Its this freedom that is being taken away! Sad Sad day for xbox fans. I'm a diehard sony guy but I feel for you guys, really.
