There not bitching about psn+ because they are hypocrites and fanboys, always have been and always will be. They used live as a way to shit on Xbox fans and rile them up, now that Sony has it they look stupid and are in full damage control. Pretty Simple

If the past week is anything to go by it looks like that trail MS is blazing leads right out of the console business.

I was on vacation with no internet access for a week and am watching these e3 conferences and their fallout for the first time today, so forgive me with chiming in a bit late.

In terms of the e3 presentations and what was shown:

What has Sony added to the new console aside beefing up the specs? Sony's console strategy is seriously starting to lag at this point and time. For 3 generations now they keep doing the same things console after console.. just beef up the specs and provide a current staus quo and boom, they’re done. Whilst Microsoft has been the trailblazer, taking risks and bringing new things to the console market. This forces Sony to have to patch things on the go in order to compete and always remain a step behind(or several steps).

When Microsoft introduced standardized multiplayer gaming on consoles and started charging for Xbox Live Gold, people criticized it, claiming it will fail. But now Sony is going by the same route and charging money for PSN+ in order for multiplayer. How are gamers and media not bitching about this btw?

Then again when Microsoft Introduced Xbox live arcade and XNA for indie developers, people said it will fail... but now Sony is grabbing Indie developers any way they can. Consistently Sony incompetence and lack of foresight means they have to always play catch up and are behind.

We are again seeing something new on home consoles from Microsoft...cloud computing, digital gaming library, digital game sharing, HDMI passthrough and possibly many more features to come...which everyone on the internetz is claiming will fail. All while the greatest strengths for the competition are all based on the current gaming standards. Hmm...

They say that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over while expecting a different outcome.

Yeah because the PS4 doesn't have tons of new cloud features too (Many the X1 doesn't have).  LOL nice try...

I don't think you guys know the difference between Sony saying "Yeah we can do that too" and actually doing it. Funny how the entire post was lost on you other than cloud computing...

I'd say most aren't because of the fact Microsoft has done this for years. People have gotten used to it by now. When Microsoft did it, it was unheard of, but now it's obviously nothing new to the console industry.

You do realize that cloud computing is not heavy on hardware right? The only thing introduced by Microsoft that sony can t do is tv integration because they dont have an HDMI in. Everything else they can add to the box when consumers ask for it. This is where Microsoft and Sony split. Sony is giving us what we are asking for now, Microsoft is telling us that they have what we want two years from now. Maybe Microsoft is right, they could also be wrong. Sony has to play it safe because they are short on cash.
At the beginning of current gen, sony was the all in one box, with bluray, linux and other social media but the future took a turn for the digital. Blurays are really not the future they envisioned. Microsoft won this gen, even though sony had better leg.

AND FOR THE LAST TIME SONY CAN DO CLOUD COMPUTING EVENTUALLY. But people seem to forget they can also do cloud streaming already which in my opinion is better. Cloud computing allows for a 5mb/s average worth of computation. In perspective modern day cpu s perform calculations closer to 20000MB/s. unless internet speed skyrockets while staying cheap, cloud computing is a fallacy, like blast processing. (dont forget about fucking latency)

Hence cloud streaming is better, because you can have a supercomputer in the cloud that processes the entirety of the game while streaming to you the gameplay. You would only need a connection speed of 5mb/s to have 2k, and 10mb/s to have 4k. Latency would also be a lot slower. Cloud computing is not the future, cloud streaming is.

So yeah you're right about sony being behind. But that is like being behind someone who stops due to technological restrictions while you re speeding up. I hope I cleared that up for you. GOOD thread

But what if they are doing the same thing to get the same outcome?

Yeah, that's the same thing that confuses me about the OP.  Sony is probably hoping to sell more consoles than Microsoft for the third time in a row.

Seriously, though, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't mind another PS2.

Well said, you'll need this where you're going.
