First off physical media is NOT going away. No other media has have that happen so i dont know what alternate reality some are living in where they see that is the case.

OT What i will do? NOthing, just like 360 was beating PS3 i still bought PS3 and enjoyed it along with WIi. If we go all digital, i will either just stick to PC which is far superior in that field anyway or just stop gaming.

While its not going to completely go away...It is also true that more an more gaming is becoming a digital event and sooner or later gaming from a disc will be considered retro. They will still exist of course but in a very limited fashion.

When you say limited, what do you mean? Because people have been saying the same thing for books, newspapers, music, movies for years and none of those are limited. I can go to the store and get those just fine. Well except maybe books, but theres Amazon for that. video game files are much bigger than anything i listed and bandwidth needed...a lot of people are just not there yet. SO if the video game industry wants to really go ahead with that, they are going to see the install base shrink like never before.

FYI MS isnt ahead of anyone, SOny already had an all digital game machine.

2-3 years from now when Apple and Android devices are invading the livingroom with gaming from all sides, and they all have digital distribution and DRM much more strict than Xbox One, old school gamers may cut Xbox some slack... But till then, Microsoft is the devil.

Doing it half assed with a bastardized handheld console product and putting all your eggs in to the all-digital console basket are not the same thing...

I would be extremely disappointed with gamers and the gaming industry in general.

The OP seems to think we are going to head all digital anyway. ANd if that happens then MS deserves no credit cause someone had already done it before. How was it halfassed? If anything what MS is doing right now is halfassed, either make an all digital machine or just stick to how consoles have been functioning for years.

Would still not buy an xbox one.....its that simple

Sorry but the One is left on store shelves... I full well intend on getting 2 consoles this generation.. and One is not One... It's time for some Humble pie.. it's that simple..

Nintendo Wii by generations...

1. Wii

2. Wii U

3. Wii O U

Predictions made by gamers concerning the current Nintendo line up of games.

Pikmen 3= Little Bump to nothing. (Got Little Bump)

Wind Waker HD= Won't sell anything (The explosion happened here and at one time 4 Wii U games was in the Amazon top 100)

Super Mario 3D World= Won't help at all looks cheap. (Currently the most sought after Wii U game and continuing the Wii U increase.)

What exactly prevents Sony from letting you share your digital purchases, if it proves so popular and publishers are fine with it?

Nothing because I am mature enough to not go "DOOOM XBONE" and I always said "time will tell"

I might end up being a little bit suprised tho.

I will still most likely not buy it because I don't want XBONE to lay the foundation for every future console (with its restrictions) Especially because a friend told me that there is a rumor about super strict region locking like "Cheap games in the UK? Well not for you dear friends in France/Germany." EU/US/JP region lock is bad enough.

Well when you especially look at the younger generation they are a generation that is much more into digital entertainment. Its the older generation that is much more used to physical media. If you have noticed Even many newspapers are operating in the red, because of very low subscription count. Many of them are going more towards online offerings. Physical media of movies is still fairly strong in some aspects and blu ray has helped with that, but look at your average rental shop like blockbuster, family video, hollywood video, ect. Many of them are going out of business. In my area 10 years ago we had dozens of them. Now maybe just a few if that. It may be somewhat slower for Movies, but more and more people are turning to streaming and digital options. Going digital is not only more convenient for consumers but it can be more profitable for the distributor in many cases, because it cuts out a layer. Instead of Developer, Publisher, Platform, Retail it becomes Developer, Publisher, Platform. Cuts out cost of retail. As gamers get more used to digital gaming they will realize how much more convenient it is. Therefore the same thing that is happening to movie rental stores will happen to game retail. Its sad for those retail industries, but conveinience always seems to win out. Especially with the younger generation.
